Chapter 163: Chapter 163: Progress

" You’re back? I’m assuming the mission was a success." Annie asked when she saw Alex and the others return.

The ogres looked excited, at least the female did even though she pretended to be calm. " You can come retrieve your reward later.

The guild will take a 30 percent commission fee from the 520 Rei as is by the rules of the guild and the contract you signed.

Since you’ve completed a 3 star mission, 30 points will also be added to your mercenary accounts.

You can either split the points amongst yourselves or register as a party. That way, you can use the points to rank up your entire party.

Points can also be used as discount points when purchasing things from the guild, have a wonderful day."

The ogres left excitedly, even after the guild took a 30 percent commission. The amount of money they would be left with was a lot.

Annie thanked Alex and the other two, she promised to give them their money as well and added 10 points to each of their accounts.

Even though they were part of the pack, they were also individuals and she wouldn’t let them work for free.

Of course, after the commission of the guild, there was also a 10 percent they needed to pay to the pack itself.

It was basically a tax of sort. She didn’t dwell much on it since it was Suzie’s idea. Annie knew that was just Suzie making everybody pay Adrian for existing.

It was time to contact the client, she summoned the sparrow and wrote a letter. Before she could send it, the sparrow started shivering.

Its chipping came to a stop and it dragged itself under a stack on papers on the desk as if to hide.

She smelled a scent that made her breath heavy and knew her mate was right behind her.

She turned with a smile, " What are you doing here?" She asked.

" I could ask you the same thing, you know we have people to do this type of thing. Also, I should mention that Suzie isn’t happy.

Nor is any of her subordinates, they think their queen shouldn’t be doing menial work like this."

" And you agree?"

He shook his head, " I think you should do whatever makes you happy."

" Yeah, that’s right so tell Suzie I said, if she thinks I’m her queen, she shouldn’t be telling me what to do."

He nodded, " Okay then I’ll leave you to it." He went back upstairs. His aura completely disappeared.

This building was enchanted, even werewolves couldn’t smell each other across different floors.

The sparrow crawled out under the stack of papers. ’ Strange.’ Annie thought to herself and sent it off.

The client came and paid, she was happy when she saw the artefact. Annie knew how important this thing was to their race.

" Thank you for your business, in case you need anything else taken care off, you know where to find us."

Secra nodded with a happy smile, she even forgot about the high prices for the two missions.

After all, what they had just retrieved was priceless. " I’ll be sure to spread word of your services."

Annie thanked her and Secra left with her entourage.

----------------------------------

What Annie and the others had not expected was how fast the news would spread. In only two days.

They received a flood of people wanting to sign up. They heard from the ogres about the amount they made on a single mission.

Unfortunately for them, the rules were not so simple. What happened with the ogres was an exception.

If they wanted missions that pay that much, they would need to rank up their mercenary rank first.

This made them dejected for a moment but then realised, even the lower ranked missions paid quite a sum.

Clients were the most distraught when they discovered what the prices for missions were.

However they also understood they were paying for reliability with somebody to be held countable should anything wrong happen.

Before, they had to hire untrustworthy people and since nobody wanted to work without a down payment.

Most would just take the down payment and run, never to be seen again. With nobody to be held countable, those clients would lose their money forever.

Just like that, another full moon came, Annie’s parents were finally going to turn. She stood there watching them.

Annie had poured everything she had on them, after all they were her parents. This meant they were going to be a single rank below an alpha.

They were going to be the first Betas of the pack. This made the other werewolves jealous but none dared voice their complaints.

Well except one, Sam was probably the only one who didn’t care much about Adrian’s status.

" This isn’t fair, we should be betas too now, I mean we’ve been werewolves for much longer, they’re just new born."

His words made a few girls furious but above all of them was Naija. She summoned her wolves.

After becoming a Gemma she gained a second ability which was just a second lunar esper wolf.

" How dare you question the lord and lady? Do you think you know more than my lord huh?

Do you intend to betray the pack sir Sam, do you wish to usurp the authority of lord, us that your ambition?"

Her words were soft but the coldness in her voice chilled the hearts of those around them.

Even Adrian couldn’t understand this woman’s reasoning. Sam just scratched the back of his head.

He only did that when he found the situation annoying and too much work. " You’re quite unreasonable, I don’t know how we even got there."

His nonchalant attitude seemed to piss her off even more but she wasn’t the only one. Everybody on Suzie’s lineage besides Suzie herself surrounded Sam.

They were angry but they weren’t idiot, they knew they couldn’t take down Sam by themselves.

Even Naija who was incredibly powerful amongst those of her rank wasn’t that powerful.

" Enough!" A voice that shook the room barked followed by a low growl that made them shiver.

They saw Adrian glaring at them with silver eyes like the moon itself. Each felt their blood run cold.

Not only did Adrian’s anger carry a physical weight on their very soul, the thought of disappointing him terrified them even more.

They went on their knees and apologised but he was no longer paying any attention to them.

The night went by, they watched as Annie’s parents transformed. Both her smaller and more hunched forms.

This signified them as mid to long range ability werewolves. Morning came and everything was set.

Annie’s parents were going to leave in a few days. They spent their time with their daughter and future son in law.

And the day came for them to leave, Annie, Adrian and Suzie accompanied them. They appeared near the city of Centragon.

It was a mid sized city larger than Lagos but smaller than capital cities. They walked to a well off neighbourhood.

A villa stood on top of a hill surrounded by beautiful trees. The villa was a large estate with horses, a golf court and many other things.

It surpassed Sanchez’s house in size. The Ladros family were taken back. " Did you rent this place?"

Adrian shook his head, " No, I figured if I’m going to uproot your entire lives, I might as well make it an upgrade."

One might wonder where Adrian got so much money. From the elk coins, when exchanged for mundane human money. ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm

They were a lot, a single Rai was about 10 million in human money. He also gave them a card with billions.

" Suzie has arranged a private school for the twins, as long as you don’t draw too much attention to yourselves.

You should have good lives here, take these rings, they’ll be useful in hiding the fact that you’re Fayera in case you meet another Fayera or Espara."

After settling the Ladros in, they went back to the black market. Adrian couldn’t stay too long in the outside world.

It was too risky. With everything set, time progressed and just like that, 8 years went by.
