Chapter 160: Chapter 160: Tracking and Bottom line
Annie talked to Adrian about this commission but he just left everything to her to decide.
Annie read through the files of the werewolves and their abilities. Her eyes landed on Alex.
He was one of the Delta werewolves. His first ability was a sword, a standard ability amongst werewolves.
His second ability he gained after becoming a Gemma was what drew her attention. It was a sensing type ability.
It enhanced his nose to extreme levels. It grew even stronger when he became a Delta werewolf.
So powerful in fact he can see what happened through lingering scent as if seeing a record in time.
Of course the ability wasn’t perfect, he couldn’t actually see through time. If the scent of the target is overwhelmed by other scents, it’s hard to see clearly. fгeewebnovёl.com
He was also the leader of his own lineage, in fact the two werewolves with sensing abilities were members of his lineage.
One had incredible eyesight, the other had incredible hearing. Both of them were Gemma now giving them second abilities.
And both of them awakened weapon type abilities like he did. After reading through everything she made her decision.
Using pack call she summoned Alex and his two subordinates. " Yes my lady what can we do for you?"
Alex was very respectful in his speech. He was a rigid guy who obeyed the hierarchy like it was everything.
That could be seen by the way his subordinates interacted with him. They respected and feared him.
But like all other werewolves, he was very loyal. " Alex, you came fast, good. I have a mission for you."
She handed them the folder with the details of the first mission. " My lady if I may ask, if the enemy is not too strong, should we retrieve the item ourselves?"
Annie shook her head, in actuality, Alex was stronger than those two ogres even though there was a level difference between them.
As a Delta, he was equal to a vampire or demon marquis. Alex looked confused, he couldn’t understand her reasoning.
" You look confused. Alex, the point of this isn’t to complete the mission ourselves or make money.
Well that’s part of it but we mostly intend to draw in others to act as mercenaries. Their presence will mask us.
Even if you can personally handle the target, just send word of their location and we’ll send those two to deal with them."
He nodded and didn’t question her. She gave him the box that used to hold the artefact.
He sniffed it once and growled. " We’ll take our leave my lady." He turned around and walked off.

Alex arrived on one of the gates of the black market. " I would like to go to the forest of dancing trees."
Teleporting to where you didn’t initially come from cost extra, much much extra. He paid and they went through the gate.
The three werewolves appeared in a forest surrounded by tall thin trees. The trees were nearly 30 metres tall but only a metre thick.
Because of that they swayed with the wind, even gently gusts, that’s where the forest’s name came from. However for some reason they never broke.
They were very elastic and could bend to touch the ground but the wind cannot break them.
Alex sniffed the air and silver smoke like shadows appeared in front of him. He couldn’t see them with his eyes but his nose.
These were the scents left by those who were here. Those who had been here more recently were clearer.
He saw shadows of what appeared to be an army. ’ Trackers.’ they were obviously from the group that commissioned the mission.
There were also fainter shadows, three of them. He continued sniffing and saw those shadows moving.
On those shadows was a stronger and clearer shadow. A trail came from the box he was carrying to that shadow. fɾēewebnσveℓ.com
’ I’ve found it.’ he latched on to the scent of the artefact and followed it. The three thieves met up with somebody else.
Alex couldn’t make out the individual features or strength of any of them. He continued chasing the scent.
" Let’s go." They started running, they created giant gusts of winds behind them which bent the trees.
The scents grew stronger the more they chased after them. Eventually they left the forest of dancing trees.
Along the way they had avoided many wild gadra using their heightened senses. They came out to an open field.
After running for a few kilometres they saw a small village. The villagers were people with animal body parts.
Ears and tails, ’ Shifters.’ he thought to himself. Most of them appeared to be Molemen and rabbitmen.
The weakest kind of shifter type Fayera, barely stronger than humans. They were also very timid.
They rushed to their houses and locked the doors as soon as they saw the three of them.
Alex wondered why they lived so close to a forest teeming with gadra when they were so timid.
Then it dawned in him, this place had very little resources useful to Fayera, it had thin ambient esper.
It had nothing that would draw attention of stringer races, even the Gadra in the forest of dancing trees were weaker.
However its soil was very fertile for growing normal crops. For herbivorous Fayera like them, this place was perfect.
Alex could see strangers like them were not welcome here but the scent led directly to this place.
Or rather it passed through this place. He went inside and knocked on a door. He could smell the people inside scurrying to hide.
" It’s okay, I’m not going to hurt you, I just want to ask you a question." The eight people didn’t open the door.
The scents he was chasing went through here. He used his ability and saw what had happened.
Through the lingering scent he saw three people breaking into this house and grabbed a member of this family.
He looked like the father, the mother and seven children hid while the father tried to fight but he was too outclassed.
He was overwhelmed instantly, killed and eaten right there while his family watched from their hiding place.
This was a family of rabbitmen and the people Alex was chasing were Scapra who were onmiyera.
It was quite common for Onmiyera and Carniyera type Fayera to consume other Fayera.
In fact those like the Naga had a preference for Molemen. Alex sighed, he had consumed the hearts of other Fayera.
But even he wouldn’t harm innocent people like this. He slid a single coin under the door then left.
Now, he was really angry at those thieves. Their actions had went beyond his bottom line.
