Chapter 159: Chapter159: Mission (1)
Secra provided the details. " I see." Answered the werewolf receptionist. " This artifact was stolen from your people?
And you need the mercenary guild to retrieve it for you before the coronation ceremony which is in 43 days?
Understood, however assessing the difficulty of this mission will be hard. Do you know the level and skills of those who stole it?"
Secra shook her head, " Nobody saw it happen, we were able to track its location until the forest of dancing trees where we lost the trail.
We suspect the thieves to not be stronger than level 3 at most but should they be, we’re willing to pay more compensation."
The receptionist shook her head, " The strength of the thieves is not the only issue. There’s also the task of tracking them down."
That made Secra’s face pale. This guild was her last hope. Finding somebody to do this task was nearly impossible.
Disregarding the difficulty of contacting potential hires, there’s the possibility those they hire might just run away.
The guild was a stationary organisation, while new it had clear written rules, should they fail the mission.
They would return every single coin paid to them without arguing. Suddenly another figure appeared.
Secra couldn’t make out her features clearly but she was certain it was a woman. The woman was carrying a book.
" Is there an issue?" Annie asked, she could see the conflict on the receptionist’s face and decided to see what’s going on.
" My lady, I...I don’t know how to assess the level of this mission,I’m sorry." She apologised.
Annie tapped her shoulder, " It’s okay, I’ll take care of it. Hello there, I’m the vice guild master, so what seems to be the problem?"
The receptionist explained everything before Secra could. " I see." Annie looked at Secra and shook her head.
Secra felt her hope dwindling even more but Annie’s next words brought it back.
" I’m afraid this can’t be a single mission, it has to be split into two meaning you would have to pay for both missions separately."
Secra didn’t mind but her maid seemed offended by that. " My lady has already commissioned a mission. freewebnσvel.cѳm
Why must it be two, you’re looking for a single item, are you trying to scam us? I knew this guild thing was a scam!"
The maid shouted but her anger just drew venomous gazes from the werewolves. They stood up and faced her.
All them couldn’t take somebody insulting their queen. It was a wonder how they accepted her being a queen so easily. fɾēewebnσveℓ.com
Annie responded calmly. " You’re free to not commission us Ma’am. The reason it has to be split is because it would be unfair to the mercenaries.
The difficulty of tracking the thieves alone deserves to be a 3 star mission, then there’s the uncertainty of the enemy’s strength and numbers which increases the danger.
And considering the time limit you placed on the mission, the difficulty increases even further.
Therefore each mission will have to be temporary assigned high 3 stars but this rating can change based on the difficulty.
By the way, each star corresponds to each level and the high determines if it’s high difficulty or low difficulty.
Each of those effect the price of the commission. Do you still wish to commission us?"
Secra’s maid was about to speak up when she raised her hand and stopped her. " Yes we will, could you please tell us what’s the price is for a mission of that level."
" A standard 3 star mission cost anywhere between 400 to 500 Rei and for a high ranking one, the price will be 540 Rei."
Annie had just learnt that currency, Rai was the branches, Rui was the roots and Rei were the fruits of the black elf tree.
She learnt the name of the black elk tree is Ararui, Adrian didn’t even know that, he still called them roots and stuff.
The price made even Secra hesitant, 540 Rei was not a small number, especially since it was for one mission.
The other would certainly be more expensive. " Could you give us time to contact back home?"
Annie nodded, " Take all the time you need, also you can lower the commission price by 2 Rei if you can provide something related to the artefact.
One that had been in contact with it for an extended period of time. " Secra nodded and left.
Annie opened her book and asked a question about the artefact in the photo, fortunately the library had the answer.
That artefact was called a Scaprana, it looked like a bronze scorpion. According to known information.
This thing was a royal artefact that can allow the Scapra wearing it to take their full form which was an ability Scapra had long lost.
Only the royal family due to their more pure blood can use it to transform. Any other Scapra would die upon using it.
Annie was confused, this thing sounded useless to everybody else so why would anybody steal it.
As an antique? She doubted that, unless, the thief came from within. Considering nobody saw such a valuable item being stolen, surely this was an inside job.
She closed the book and continued doing what she was doing. Two days later, Secra returned.
She arrived at the same time as the two ogre mercenaries with long names. It seemed they were here for a mission.
Secra brought with her a wooden box. " This used to be case of the artefact, I’m not sure if it will suffice."
Annie was called down to address Secra herself. She took the box and nodded. " Good, this will do just fine.
Leave a way to contact you and we’ll call you when the mission has been completed, also you need to leave a 30 percent deposit for each mission." Secra left a sparrow and the money.
This sparrow was incredibly fast and could find her anywhere so it was good for delivering messages.
She left and Annie was left to address the two mercenaries. " I’m not exactly sure if this mission is suitable for you.
No offence but your kind isn’t exactly known for being subtle." The ogres nodded with understanding even though they were disappointed, besides, they weren’t good trackers.
" However if the second mission is at 3 stars, you’ll be contacted and it will be given to you."
They sighed with relief, after all, after seeing the reward for those two missions they almost fell over.
It would take then nearly an entire year to make that much money.
