Chapter 32: Weird
Cillian observed the classroom’s students slowly lessen as Willow began ordering people to prep.
Once Ulrich was done explaining about the celebration, Willow immediately began assigning students, each had tasks to do, and some were especially looking for the supplies and equipment.
Though she is not considering it, Willow knew there were bound to be complications, already thinking that everything she asked would definitely not come her way.
She was already falling behind, and she had no way to accomplish it when the first battle would take place early next week. Five confrontations will happen on the same day, and the pickings of opponents vary.
Only they are falling behind, of course.
As for Cillian, he knew how this would unfold. The same as the people he had given information to and the people who were kind enough to share the information with others.
And everything was unknown for Willow.
For the upcoming class battle, she wouldn’t risk going unprepared. Only a lunatic would not prepare and gamble that they weren’t going to be picked on next week on the first day.
On the contrary, it will be a different kind of nonsense if the person has prior knowledge beforehand, and knows roughly how this event would unfold, but has not prepared at all.
And Cillian is inclined not to become the latter.
"..."
Seeing that the only ones left in the room were him and Aster’s group, Cillian took one last look before standing up from his place.
With an intention to see his progression in casting the Fireball spells that gained results like the rest of his spells for the past few days, Cillian was about to leave the room when a chilling yet indifferent voice called out to him from the room.
"You knew about the tournament, didn’t you?"
Stopping on his spot, Cillian diverted his attention to the middle of the seats, clearly looking at Aster, who was staring back at him.
By the looks of it, Aster has been examining him the entire time.
Though Cillian is aware of it, but remain to be ignorant.
’So it was this?’
They look at each other without any hint of emotion, though their demeanor is somewhat unsettling that even the people at Aster’s back noticed it.
Without trying to hide anything, Cillian confessed and chuckled as if mocking the eight people.
"Yes? Why ask?"
Mixed and shocked expressions appeared on most of the group’s faces. Willow was even having a weird, angry face as if she was ready to tear Cillian apart.
Only Melissa and Aster were the ones who remained calm.
Aster, whose suspicions have been proven and who already has speculations running through his head, retorted with a shake of his head.
"I just don’t see any reason for you to hide it."
"I guess you could say that."
Cillian flatly replied before he added, mixing a tone of insult.
"But I hid it from you guys because I don’t want to share it with you guys, I guess that’s that? I know some of you are eager to take this opportunity and be a winner since it gains exposure and fame, but I don’t really want any of that."
’Haha, actually screw the last part. I want some kind of exposure and fame, but... I’m doing it on my own way.’
Cillian added inwardly, not wanting to expose it outside when Aster replied.
"So you just want to lose?"
"Huh?"
Cillian’s brows creased as if he didn’t like that reply, and he honestly answered. freёweɓnovel.com
"Who said I wanted to lose? To tell you honestly, I loathe losing the most. But let’s not get off the trail here. I didn’t tell you about it because I like it. Or maybe I don’t like you guys? Well, it doesn’t change the fact that I also don’t want to lose because losing sucked."
Cillian gave them a smile.
"A bit of a contradiction, right?"
"It is really contradictory."
Aster nodded once before turning around.
"Sorry I asked. You can leave now."
Now, seeing that Aster was too oddly calm made Cillian frown.
He almost thought that he would be forced by them to spit out the information. It was also a good time since Freya and Aster’s monitor was still not there.
Though Cillian wouldn’t mind the fight since he’s about to crash out and fight back. Even planning on blaming them if they decide to attack.
But it seemed to be put on hold for now.
’What’s this overpowered bastard trying to do now?’
Cillian observed him for a moment, not minding the piercing stares he received from others. He thought Aster had something to add, but his expectations weren’t met.
He left the room afterward.
...
Having been absent for the past few days, Cillian decided to head straight to his club. Fortunately, his group reported time to time, and no students asked them to investigate anything, hence he had a lot of free time to work on by himself.
Of course, not having any clients will deteriorate the club’s position, but they didn’t have to worry about such a thing for a moment since they made a boon of their last task, where they were asked to investigate what the academy tournament or celebration is all about.
Hence, having no client for the rest of the week is not a kind of loss.
In fact, the club is practically growing due to their perfect effort to make their club the best there is.
And more fame means more work.
’I should hire more people in the future. Three of us aren’t going to be enough. I was thinking of Ethan, but he already has a club joined...’
Cillian shook his head before twisting the door on his front. Dawned upon him was the same old club with the same people... well, almost.
Another person was inside.
He was wearing ragged clothing, his shirt torn, and his head was full of bruises. He was missing an eye and an ear, his body shivered, and he appeared all unclean.
One glaring difference between the people he met in previous situations and now is that this person’s flag above his head is...
[Death Flag]
’Death Flag?’
The flag is far too different from the usual white, red, and black flags that Cillian encountered.
The Death Flag appeared in a silent, distorted black tear suspended in the air, over the mysterious person’s head.
"Hahaha. Ah, Cillian. This is—"
The man turned his head to Cillian and gave an amiable smile.
That smile, which is full of innocence, gave Cillian the chills.
"You must be the club president. I’ll introduce myself. My name’s Aiden, and I was just trying to hide for some time since somebody’s chasing me. If you don’t mind, can you lend me a spare room at this club? There seemed to be three in here."
Cillian’s danger meter was ringing all around as he couldn’t help but muse inwardly.
’This guy is dangerous... I could understand that Phillip might not have noticed it, but Vin as well? What the hell is going on here...’
Cillian tensed as he felt his day completely turning around, filled with confusion.
This guy is very, very dangerous.
But knowing it would be more dangerous for them if Cillian showed any animosity, he calmed down and greeted back, his voice slightly hoarse.
"Hi Aiden, my name is Cillian. My guys seemed to have introduced me to you. Well, if you wanted a room, I can give it to you."
Cillian smiled as he slowly sat down in the nearest seat, far away from Aiden.
"But if it’s not a bother to ask, where did you come from? And you said someone is chasing you? Who are these people?"
"Oh, sure! Well, sadly, I don’t even know where I come from, honestly. I just woke up with these strange memories a long time ago... But I can tell where I come from recently, but you will immediately endanger your life, or perhaps die. But I’m inclined to be quiet about myself, or we’ll both die?"
Aiden chuckled, saying those dangerous words in a goofy way that made Cillian give the creeps.
Aiden continued in the same jolly tone.
"As to who is chasing me, well, you wouldn’t want to know either, haha!"
While Phillip and Vin were even laughing on the side whenever Aiden spoke, Cillian’s face became slightly distorted.
He imagined that he wouldn’t easily come to understand the motives behind the mysterious person, Aiden, but he didn’t expect that he’d answer in a roundabout manner.
But if listening to Aiden’s warning would be better than peering more into what doesn’t need to be known for now, then Cillian might comply in the meantime.
However, Cillian was still not convinced. freeweɓnøvel.com
Aiden felt that Cillian was unconvinced as well, which made him sigh and motion his fingers lightly.
"!"
This made Cillian shudder that forced him to stand near Phillip and Vin, who weren’t acting straight. He was still confused about all of this, but he had to bring these two with him and report this weird encounter.
They had to get out right now while he buys time.
Aiden didn’t seem to mind his actions at all as he added with a friendly face.
"But I can tell you something. This world will encounter the same hellish experience that every living being in the Worlds has met. You have been plagued by Ruins, after all. Now, that is one glaring factor. I think that’s what I saw? My memories are kinda fucked up, so yeah!"
"Hellis experience! We’re about to die! Hahaha!"
"Die, die, die!"
Aiden then chuckled that soon turned into laughter, despite having no amusing thing at his words at all. This action, however, only even made Vin and Phillip laugh loudly.
Aiden then continued.
"Ah, because you were plagued, I managed to escape from that place! Then I was laying low for a while and roamed around this world. Has it been a few decades or a century since then? Anyways, I mean no harm!"
Cillian became even more confused.
’He tried to appear friendly, but the flag above his head said otherwise! Why the fuck did you move your hands just now, then?! Mean no harm, my ass! Usually, when a person says that, they bring absolute disaster! Webnovel characters or not!’
This encounter was too sudden... too sudden that he couldn’t think of any kind of variable for this to occur. Additionally, setting aside the peculiarity of the situation, an individual like Aiden is filled with mystery.
’Wait. Did he say he’s been lying low for decades or a century? If what he said is true, then he’s at least a hundred years old or maybe even older? And he said, ’this world’. So there are other worlds? Well, definitely! He described the worlds as Worlds.’
Cillian mused and couldn’t help but gulp a mouthful, feeling his hand shivering.
This was too much information being thrown at him all of a sudden.
Worst of all, Phillip and Vin find it amusing and laugh genuinely, finding every word of Aiden a joke.
As if he were the only sane person left in the room.
With many questions to ask, Cillian asked a very important matter first.
"If you were here to lay low, you could’ve chosen another one of these Worlds, but why here?"
Cillian quickly concluded that this world isn’t the only world.
There was Earth and other planets as well. Hence, if Earth isn’t just a figment of his imagination and this world isn’t just part of someone’s novel, then there should be countless planets outside these two.
Well, Cillian knew there were more planets outside of Earth, but lifeforms couldn’t be confirmed, as he was too tired to think about everything scientifically.
He just needed confirmation to quench his curiosity... and it was confirmed almost immediately.
"Good question!"
Aiden crossed his arms as he closed his one good eye, contemplating. Once he came up with an answer, he retorted gleefully.
"It’s because I’m here on a goal to find my lost consciousness. There’s a fragment here in this world, and thankfully, I have been able to seize it. But I’m in the middle of an assimilation, so who would’ve that it only made things worse!"
He sighed, but with a subtle giggle still omitted from his mouth, he added.
"I would’ve disappeared a few decades back, but I was surprised that my pursuers were already locked onto this world. Sigh, they are really tenacious bastards, but who could blame them? I read *** after all. I— oh shit, I couldn’t say *** but I was just being honest! Honest! Fuck! How about its ***? Oh, I’m not able to as well! Well, just fucking great!"
Watching Aiden acting out as if he were talking to the air, Cillian couldn’t help but shudder.
’This person is crazy...! I couldn’t understand most of his words at all! What the fuck?!’
On the other hand, Vin and Phillip fell to their knees, coughing up saliva as they continued laughing, bringing them closer to choking themselves.
