Chapter 430: Snake-man

"Ha... hahaha!" Lyrian suddenly laughed, "You? Are going to kill me?" He put his hand on his face.

"I’ve had enough bull shit these past few days. Just move along, squirt. Whatever master you intend to protect, just know that I am not going to kill him, yet. I’m here for power, not murder."

"Tsk... foolish brats like you who gain some strength think that they rule the world--"

The snake-man was cut off.

"Well, that’s the plan, scale-brain." Lyrian hopped off of Garmr at that moment.

"Fine... if you intend to fight, I’ll fight you."

’Oh? It highly specializes in speed. It’s definitely far faster than I am.’ Lyrian mused, furrowing his brows.

’This will be a bit harder than anticipated...’

At that moment, Illectus spoke, "You see..." His long tongue rattled the house of his mouth for a moment, "You should never underestimate your opponent in battle."

"You will be good training," Lyrian exclaimed, as Illectus suddenly disappeared from where he was standing.

"Shadow," Lyrian said, as Garmr entered his shadow, leaving only him and Illectus in the barren battleground.

His eyes slowly scanned the area as he turned, not noticing anything.

Illectus appeared in front of his eyes out of nowhere. Lyrian attempted to punch, but Illectus was already gone before his fist could land.

Then, the boy felt a force slam against his back, making him stumble forwrad slightly.

When turning to look back at what hit him, he noticed that no one was there.

"As I thought... fast," Lyrian said, feeling another punch on his shoulder.

It pushed from to the left a bit, and then another punch on his leg made him stumble to the right.

A kick came, then a punch and another. Just like this, Lyrian was moved slightly each time by the punches for a solid minute.

Finally, Lyrian stopped looking around and simply faced the ground. His face became shadowed.

’He’s lowering his gaze to the floor? Cheh!’ Illectus inwardly sneered, ’He underestimates me too much... either that, or he’s just a weak fool.’

Illectus lunged forward to land a blow on Lyrian’s face.

The snake man’s gaze stayed unfaltering as he approached Lyrian.

He knew the boy wasn’t very fast.

’Attacking the face is more risky, but as long as I come within a 6-foot range of him, he can’t do anything about it even if he sees me. He’s simply too slow to react so fast to my speed when we are in such a close range.’

Just like that Illectus arrived 8 feet away, ’Still no sign of him knowing where I’m at.’ He smirked inwardly.

7 feet... and finally 6, and then 5 right afterward.

Now, a grin stretched across Illectus’ face. A punch to the noggin was more damaging than a body punch by a mile.

As he reached his elbow back to unleash a punch, Lyrian’s hand suddenly flew up from his side at an immense speed.

This time, Illectus was the one who couldn’t react fast enough.

Not only because of being caught off guard but also because of the sheer speed of the boy’s hand.

Lyrian grabbed the snake-make’s narrow skull, face first.

Illectus was moving so fast that a small noise of impact sounded when Lyrian grabbed his face and made him full stop.

Immediately, Illectus tried to scratch his way out of Lyrian’s grip, feet, hands, and all.

But, no matter how much he squirmed, Lyrian wasn’t even close to letting go.

Lyrian’s head slowly turned up to face the snake-man in his grasp.

"Damn weakling." He said with disdain, beginning to squeeze the snake man’s head.

"W-wait!" Illectus suddenly exclaimed, feeling his skull beginning to get compressed.

"How!? Tell me, how did you do it!? I’ve gone my whole life fighting, and I have admittedly lost many but never has someone surpassed my speed. Never have they caught me like this... how did you do it, I must know!"

"How? Your whole life was in here, this underground shit hole. No wonder you didn’t have any strong enough opponents that could challenge ur speed. But I didn’t beat you because I was faster. I beat you because I was smarter."

"W-what?" Illectus seemed puzzled.

"I bet my chips on the fact that you were a gullible retard. We all know that attacks to the face, especially for weaklings like you, are more valuable. So I put my head down to bait you, and you fell for it like a fish chasing a worm."

Illectus felt his heart sink as he heard those words.

"Damn... damn it!" He stopped struggling for a moment, but then Lyrian suddenly began to squeeze the snake man’s skull with immense pressure.

"Wait!!" Illectus screamed, "Mercy! Mercy! Spare me!" Lyrian didn’t stop, intending to brust the things skull.

"I’ll help you! I can help!"

However, on hearing those words, Lyrian had a sudden epiphany and stopped squeezing.

"That’s right... you know this place better than I." He said out loud, "Illectus." He addressed the snake-man.

Illectus looked at him with widened eyes of shock, "W-how do you know my name!? Only my master..." He was at a loss for words.

"You will guide me to the heartstone, and if you fail, I will kill you instantly."

Illectus gulped on hearing this. Lyrian’s tone was cold and unforgiving.

"Even if you so much as make a single mistake, I will kill you. There will be no retries, no second chances. Understand that I don’t need you, so don’t think I will give you any leeway."

At that moment, Illectus got overwhelmed by the number of death threats he was receiving, "O-okay okay! I won’t mess up, I swear it!"

Lyrian squinted his eyes for a second and looked at Illectus.

Then, he summoned Garmr again. Garmr carried the snake-man by the tail in his mouth, while he gave directions to Lyrian who sat on top.

With that, they began heading into the mountain cavern.
