Chapter 431: Bright Ore

They made their way into the massive cavern opening. It gleaned pink from the inside. Lyrian soon came to see the reason why.

The stone inside was stained a bright pinkish color in small splotches.

Most of it was normal, but the rest of the stone had a sort of illuminating aura inside of it.

As they continued, they began making their way up the massive cavern.

The walls became 30 feet in both height and width, with rounded ceilings and stalactites everywhere.

Soon enough, Lyrian began to see small collected batches of smooth pink crystals illuminate the area.

"Are these Heartstones?" Lyrian asked Illectus, getting off of Garmr. He walked toward one of the crystals.

"No... they technically aren’t." The snake-man replied as simply as possible.

Lyrian walked closer to the crystal and Scanned it.

Name: Bright Ore

Description: A highly concentrated piece of Dark Ore that has evolved over time into Bright Ore. This piece will spread its mana through the ground, creating more Dark or Bright Ore over time.

Lyrian furrowed his brows, "So when Dark Ore has a sufficient amount of mana over time, it becomes a Bright Ore. I imagine this ore has a greater capacity to store Mana."

He knew that he hadn’t seen any Dark Ore as of yet in this cave, "It seems the concentration of mana exuding from this cave is so much that straight-up Bright Ore’s are created from the start, and the Dark Ore process is completely skipped over."

As he said this, he got on top of Garmr again.

"Yes... but, the Heartstone which powers all supplies of Bright and Dark Ore within the Lower Realm is so powerful that it creates not only Bright Ore near here but in smaller concentrations, it creates Dark Ore all across the realm."

Lyrian turned to face Illectus, "Why that Dark Side? Why does it have Dark Ore mines and not the other sides?"

Illectus didn’t hesitate to reply, "Well, you see, the Heartstone works in mysterious ways. We are yet to know, but we assume it to be because there is a spinal line connecting the Heartstone through the ground to that nether region."

Lyrian got atop of Garmr again, "I’ll figure it out later on I suppose." With his intention alone, Garmr began to move forward again.

A few more minutes passed. The path wasn’t straightforward, or else Garmr could have run past the whole mountain by now.

It was curved and swirled at times, going left and right, and all around.

Yet, it continued moving upwards no matter what.

Finally, they arrived at a place where the walls began to become more and more covered with Bright Ore.

This was the case the entire way through, of course, but now, the concentration of the Bright Ore was boosted in moments.

Lyrian knew that they were nearing the Heartstone now.

"Illectus, are you the only guard of your so-called master?" Lyrian questioned at that moment. He knew he was nearing the Heartstone.

Illectus staggered slightly on his words as he heard this.

"W-well... no, not quite. There are the four Mythical Guards of the Elder stationed outside of the gate."

"Oh? So there’s a gate?"

"Yes..."

"And these four Mythical Guards... tell me of thier power."

"Unlike me, they are actual warriors, you see. Humans." Illectus’ tone sounded slightly somber as he said this.

"Ahem! All four of them are some of the strongest within the Black Petal Sect. However, they are a separate party from the 5 Heads of the group. The 5 Heads are leaders of the sect, while the 4 Mythical Guards, who rival the Heads in power, are only meant to defend the First Head and that is all."

Lyrian was slightly thrown off by this, "Cheh," He sneered, "Why would they go their whole lives getting stronger until they were as strong as the leaders of this sect, only to be demoted to being mere guards?"

Illectus raised his brows and replied in shock, "What!? No, not at all! Being a Mythical Guard is one of the greatest honors! You follow the Lord Head Elder wherever he goes, and assist him in all raids."

Lyrian scoffed, "Fool... of course, it would be one of the greatest honors." He said, slightly confusing the snake-man.

"W-what?"

"Nothing. I doubt you would be able to understand. Tell me about what I’m going to have to deal with with these guards."

Illectus paused for a moment, slightly confused about what Lyrian was insinuating.

But, he promptly answered, "Usually, there is only one Mythical Guard placing enforcement in the cavern at once. I know not of his abilities since they far exceed mine."

"You didn’t think to tell me of this before?" Lyrian put on a slightly angry expression.

Illectus gasped accidentally, "Uh, well, you see, I was going to tell you when the time was right!"

"Were you planning to kill me, Snake-man? To let the Mythical Guard catch me off guard?" Lyrian said as Garmr neared what seemed to be a dead end about 2000 feet ahead.

"No! Not at all!"

"I told you, right? If you make a mistake, then I’ll kill--" Lyrian was suddenly cut off.

"ARGH! Damn it! I already told you I wasn’t planning on killing you, you pathetic, arrogant bastard! But if you want to do it then do it already. You are a scoundrel! You only chase after power, you have no--" freēwēbnovel.com

At that moment, on the speechless command through Lyrian’s cold eyes, Garmr threw the snake-man into the air, gulping the beast mere seconds afterward.

Lyrian continued moving forward with Garmr toward the dead end, his expression indifferent.

"Fools begin to think they have power when they have nothing left to lose. Dumbass... don’t forget that I can just kill you and move on with my life. I still hold the power."

As Garmr neared the wall a few hundred feet, a sudden rumble made its way through the cave.

Lyrian looked around, "What is that? A cavequake?" He said to himself in a slightly humorous manner.

Just then, a powerful figure exuding a ruthless killing aura summoned in front of him.

"No... this is far, far worse than that fate."
