Chapter 427: Deadly Dilemma
"Alright... scram, everyone!" Lyrian shouted at that moment.
No one hesitated to grab their clothes and run except for Kyel who stayed for a short while longer.
After everyone had left, Kyel walked closer to Lyrian.
"Hey... would you mind..."
Lyrian already began to get a bit irritated on hearing this, ’Huh? He wants me to do a favor for him after he just tried to fight and insult me?’
"Making me your disciple?" Kyel said, looking slightly down and having nervous body language.
At that moment, Lyrian slapped the young man so hard that he flew into the river.
The river quickly carried the young man along, and he was gone from Lyrian’s sight before he knew it.
"Not that shit again..." Lyrian said before jumping into the pond.
He was going to take a thorough bath before doing anything else.
The smell of his impurities still lingered on the tip of his nose, after all.
After cleaning himself, Lyrian put his clothes back on and sat down by the edge of the river.
He resumed his thoughts from a few minutes ago, right before Kyel interrupted him.
"I’m stronger than a lot of teachers at Anaviotis. When I think about it, my only path starting from the next year is to enter the inner academy and hope I can get more powerful there."
He continued to ponder to himself.
"However, if I can absorb Cerberus’ energy through this Heart Stone, then I will gain much more power than just doing missions in my final year. If it’s for power, then I don’t mind abandoning the normal route of progression."
[Warning! The cultivation of Demonic Mana is only possible due to Divine Mana which activated itself]
"What? Is that what happened when I was going through that pain?"
[Precisely]
Lyrian had no clue, as he was in a world of pain where nothing was coherent to him.
[However, even with the Divine Mana, only partial success occurred in the cultivation of Demonic Mana]
[To fully cultivate it, you need to purify your mana core further]
"What would be the best way to do that? Do you know?"
[Pills, elixirs, or various types of natural ingredients can help with this]
[Unfortunately, I’m afraid that only 0.000000000001% of these items have a chance at working to purify your core enough to fully cultivate Demonic Mana]
[The highest of the highest grades of natural, uncultivated material is most likely be the ticket to your success]
[Success rate: 0.00000183%]
[2/1,000,000]
"I see... but couldn’t I just keep absorbing the Demonic Mana with partial cultivation?" freewebnσvel.cøm
[No. The Demonic Mana is already beginning to fight your Mana Core. It may soon take over and end your life--contorting you into a demon]
"I see... do you have any idea how long I have left before that happens?"
[Negative]
Seconds after this, Lyrian stood up from his position. As he did, he noticed a sudden sharp pain travel from his core outwards through his veins.
His body seemingly was fighting against the Demonic Mana continuously.
This pain mimicked what he had felt when he was first cultivating the Demonic Mana.
Thankfully, it was a poor imitation and not very close to the real thing, or else Lyrian would had much more of a reaction.
"Tsk! So this is what I will have to go through for an indefinite amount of time huh? How annoying..."
A few seconds later, the pain instantly subsided, leaving Lyrian breathing a slight bit heavier.
Picking himself up, he shook his head and headed for the Power Graveyard where Kyel had instructed him to go.
The young man was in such a fearful state that his lying seemed unfeasible.
Still, Lyrian wanted to make a quick stop to ask at least two more disciples before leaving, just in case it was a trap.
When he arrived back at the courtyard, he noticed a large crowd had summoned outside of it.
The crowd consisted of both disciples and mentors. They all face down the center of the courtyard toward the larger rooms at the back.
Lyrian snuck his way into this crowd, sneaking all the way to the front as he pushed and slipped past multiple people.
Finally, he broke out in the very front to see a daunting man standing before everyone.
’25 OP... not bad.’ Lyrian instantly Scanned and mused to himself.
The man was standing with an upright posture and a frown on his face.
His hands were tied behind his back, and an air of disappointment and irritation shadowed the crowd--it came with his presence.
Beside him was a man whose face looked bruised and battered. His arms were also bruised with purple spots all around.
His clothes were torn--especially the clothes on his back.
There was a bad burn on his back, with a large hole burned onto his robe.
"So, I shall ask again! Which one of you has done this!? Speaking up will lessen your punishments, but if you choose to not admit your guilt, we will give you a much worse punishment when you are caught!"
The daunting man shouted into the crowd. From what Lyrian inferred out of the crowd’s reaction, he must have been a very high-standing figure.
Possibly even the Servant Sect Head Elder.
"What are the punishments?" Lyrian suddenly shouted out from the middle of the crowd.
Slightly confused, everyone faced the young boy. The daunting man did the same, squinting his eyes with slight hesitation.
"Death for admitting your guilt, and weeks of torture if you are caught guilty." He said with a low tone.
’Huh... some brave men would argue the second option is better.’ Lyrian mused for a split second. freeweɓnøvel.com
He then thought, ’There’s no traceable evidence of me doing that to him. In reality, I didn’t, if anything it was Cerberus.’
*RING*
At that moment, bells rang loudly throughout the entire courtyard and sect.
Everyone’s eardrums rattled in slight surprise, but they quickly seemed to know what was going on.
Lyrian on the other hand was completely bewildered.
At that moment, the daunting man placed his hand on his ear, and then a delighted smile donned his face,
"Supreme Sect Elder... he is going to return from his isolation cultivation soon!" He rejoiced, as the crowd suddenly burst into cheer.
’Hmm...’ Lyrian thought for a split second.
"The attack of the upper world shall now commence!"
