Chapter 402: Chapter 402: You Two Have Already?
Qin Xiaolan was silent for a moment before saying, exasperated, "Then Dad was the one who messed this up. On my sister’s wedding day, I overheard Second Uncle and Second Aunt say that no matter what, we weren’t to tell Grandma, Grandpa, and Third Uncle what their family does in North City or where we live. And Dad went and told them everything!"
Sun Li, also feeling drained, pinched the bridge of her nose. "Tell me about it."
"As far as Dad’s concerned, Grandma, Grandpa, and Third Uncle come first. The rest of us are all secondary."
In truth, Qin Xiaolan had already lost faith in her father after that ridiculous marriage-swap incident. She only held back because she saw her mother still couldn’t quite let go of him; they had been married for over a decade, after all. But a marriage wasn’t something you could just get through by gritting your teeth and bearing it.
Qin Xiaolan said to her mother with great seriousness, "Mom, if you want to leave Dad, I’ll support you. But I have one condition: if you go, you have to take me with you. I don’t want anything more to do with the family from our hometown!"
Sun Li sighed and hugged her daughter.

Back in North City, as night fell, the courtyard home was still bustling and lively, but Qin Zhonghui and Su Yun were in low spirits.
Qin Jiao came in from outside and saw her parents’ worried expressions. "It’s alright," she said. "The myna bird flew back on its own, Grandpa Du and his family aren’t mad, and the computer isn’t broken."
Su Yun said, "The nerve of Qin Jiqun! He tried to use our Xiao Jiao in that marriage swap, and now he has the gall to show up here and sponge off us? Xiao Jiao’s right. Tomorrow, I’m going to the factory to ask where we can buy large guard dogs. We’ll get two and chain them up by the gate!"
Qin Zhonghui looked guilty. Most of the relatives from the Old Su Family weren’t well-off either, but they all kept to themselves and never stirred up any trouble.
But when it came to his side of the family, it was just one thing after another.
They were more than willing to help poor relatives who were honest and ambitious, like his sister Qin Na and her husband, Sun Jianhua.
But his third brother was a lost cause.
Qin Zhonghui was at the point where he wanted to disown his brother.
Qin Jiao said, "Mom, Dad, there’s no need for you two to get so upset. The important thing is that our family is on the same page now. As long as we present a united front, everything will be fine. It’s not that big of a deal."
Su Yun said, "Xiao Tao really made a mess of your room, didn’t he? I heard from your dad that Shen Yi’s heated brick bed is covered in water?"
"Yeah. I lit the fire for it for a while, but it’s still not completely dry. It’ll probably need to be heated again tomorrow."
"In that case, how about this? Xiao Jiao, you can come over and squeeze in with Xiao Shi tonight, and we’ll let Xiao Yi stay in your room."
Qin Jiao nodded. "Okay, I’ll go tell him."
Shen Yi was already back and knew his room had been messed up. But since his computer was fine and nothing important had been destroyed, he wasn’t angry.
He was fiddling with his computer when he looked up to see Qin Jiao push the door open. "The heated bed in this room isn’t fit to sleep on tonight," she said. "I’m going to go sleep with Xiao Shi. You can sleep in my room."
Shen Yi’s lips parted for a moment before he spoke. "We could just share a room. You can go into your space later. Xiao Shi’s room is tiny; it’ll be too crowded if you go over there."
Qin Jiao realized he had a point. Xiao Shi’s room was rather small, and the girl had only just gotten her own little space. She shouldn’t impose.
She nodded. "Alright, that works."
A smile tugged at the corner of Shen Yi’s mouth.
Later that evening, while washing dishes after dinner, Qin Jiao told her mother, Su Yun, about the new arrangement. Su Yun gave her daughter a very complex look.
"Xiao Jiao, have you two already..."
