Chapter 524: Episode 522: Too Excited.

Once the absolute shock of the word triplets wore off, the mansion completely erupted into wild, messy, joyful chaos.

Caspian picked Roxy up and spun her around in a careful circle. Ren kissed both of her cheeks, completely thrilled. Even Syris, who was usually so calm and elegant, let out a loud whoop of pure joy and hugged his brothers. ƒreewebɳovel.com

But out of all the Kings, Zarek was the absolute worst.

For the next few days, the giant, terrifying Dragon King was completely, totally unbearable.

He didn’t just walk around the massive stone mansion; he strutted. He walked with his massive chest puffed out so far he looked like he was going to burst out of his expensive dark shirts. He carried a huge, totally smug smirk on his handsome face from the moment he woke up until the moment he went to sleep.

He acted like he had just won a massive contest that the other guys didn’t even know they were playing. freēwēbnovel.com

"Do you need a pillow for your back, my Queen?" Zarek would ask loudly, walking into the room with a glass of water. He would look over his shoulder at Torian and Kaelen, making sure they were watching. "Carrying three of my children must be so tiring. Good thing my stamina was so strong, right?"

"Zarek, if you say the word ’stamina’ one more time, I am going to throw a book at your head," Roxy laughed, hiding her totally red, blushing face in her hands.

Torian let out a loud, annoying groan and threw a couch cushion at Zarek’s head. "We get it! You won the first round! Stop bragging before I bite you!"

"I cannot help it," Zarek chuckled deeply, catching the pillow easily with one hand. He walked over and pressed a hot, totally proud kiss to Roxy’s forehead. "I am just stating the facts. The dragon’s legacy is very strong."

While Zarek spent his days bragging, Torian and Kaelen needed to burn off their nervous, excited energy. They couldn’t pace around the living room forever, so they immediately went into full, intense protective mode.

They decided the giant, luxurious mansion was basically a total death trap for tiny babies, and it needed to be fixed immediately.

Kaelen called a totally mandatory meeting for the entire household staff in the grand entryway. Dozens of highly paid maids, private chefs, and giant security guards stood in a straight line, looking incredibly nervous as the Wolf King and the White Tiger paced in front of them like strict army generals.

"Listen closely," Kaelen barked, his icy blue eyes narrowing at the terrified staff. "The Matriarch is carrying three babies. That means this house needs to be perfect. If I see a single sharp corner on a table, I am throwing it out the window."

"Everything needs to be soft!" Torian agreed loudly, crossing his massive arms over his broad chest. He pointed a thick finger at Mr. Vance, the huge head of security. "Dune I want extra rugs put down in every single hallway. If the babies trip in a few years, they need to land on a cloud. I want all the heavy doors adjusted so they don’t slam, and I want all the cleaning supplies locked behind heavy steel doors!"

It sounded absurd to everyone.

Mr. Dune blinked his eyes rapidly, looking completely bewildered. "Sir, the babies aren’t even born yet. They won’t be walking for a very long time."

Torian glared at the giant security guard. "Did I ask for your opinion? Go buy the rugs! Go! Right now! Shoo!"

The staff completely scrambled, running in every direction to start baby-proofing a house for children that were currently the size of tiny blueberries. Roxy just sat on the stairs, watching the total madness and giggling behind her hand. Her giant, scary mafia bosses had completely turned into nervous, totally soft dads.

A few days later, the heavy oak front doors swung open.

Lira practically flew into the mansion. The Kings had sent an armored car to bring her up the mountain so Roxy could share the good news.

The absolute second Lira stepped into the living room and saw Roxy sitting on the couch, she let out a loud, ear-piercing scream of pure, absolute joy.

"Ahhhh! Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh!" Lira shrieked, running across the soft rugs and throwing her arms carefully around Roxy’s neck. "Three! Three babies at the exact same time! You are a literal superhero!"

"I know, it’s totally crazy!" Roxy laughed, hugging her best friend tightly.

Lira pulled back, her big brown eyes shining with happy tears. She puffed her chest out, looking incredibly proud of herself. "Well, I hope you know that I am officially declaring myself the Godmother-in-Chief. Those giant guys can teach the kids how to be tough, but I am going to teach them how to have fun."

"I wouldn’t want anyone else for the job," Roxy smiled warmly.

"Good!" Lira grinned. She turned around and dragged two massive, overstuffed shopping bags over to the couch. She grabbed the bottom of the bags and completely dumped them upside down right onto the glass coffee table.

Hundreds of tiny, colorful things spilled all over the table and the floor.

Roxy blinked, completely confused. She picked one of the little items up. It was a tiny, fuzzy yellow sock with a little duck face sewn onto the toe. She looked at the giant pile. There were pink socks, blue socks, striped socks, and socks that looked like tiny bear paws.

"Lira," Roxy giggled, looking at the absolute mountain of tiny clothes. "Why socks of all things? Why didn’t you bring shirts or blankets?"

Lira completely waved her hand, totally ignoring the question. "Cause they are cute! Look how small they are! You can’t look at a tiny duck sock and tell me your heart doesn’t completely melt. Plus, babies have really cold feet. It’s a known scientific fact."

Roxy couldn’t stop laughing. She picked up a tiny pair of tiger-striped socks and held them up, knowing Torian was going to absolutely lose his mind over them. It was such a beautiful, happy, normal human afternoon. She felt totally surrounded by love and warmth.

But the loud, happy laughter in the living room was suddenly cut short.

The heavy wooden doors leading to Syris’s private office clicked open. The elegant Swamp King walked out into the living room.

Usually, Syris walked with a smooth, totally relaxed grace. But right now, his shoulders were completely stiff. He wasn’t smiling. He was staring down at the bright screen of his silver tablet, and a deep, heavy frown was carving harsh lines into his handsome face.

The fun, light energy in the room instantly vanished.

Zarek, who was walking into the room with a fresh cup of coffee, completely stopped in his tracks. His smug, arrogant smirk totally dropped. He recognized that serious look on Syris’s face. It was the exact same look Syris wore when they were planning to tear down a rival gang in the city.

"What is wrong?" Zarek asked, his voice instantly dropping into a low, dangerous rumble.

Torian and Kaelen walked out of the kitchen, their big smiles fading completely as they felt the sudden, heavy tension in the air. Ren and Caspian stepped into the room right behind them. The six Kings totally surrounded the couch, building a thick, protective wall of muscle around Roxy and Lira.

Syris stopped in the middle of the room. He tapped the screen of his tablet and let out a long, very heavy sigh. He looked up, his bright green eyes locking onto Zarek, and then looking down at Roxy.

"I need everyone to listen to me very carefully," Syris said, his voice quiet but totally full of absolute authority. He called a serious family meeting right there on the spot.

Lira nervously grabbed Roxy’s hand, squeezing it tightly.

"We have been so happy about the babies that we completely forgot about the mess we just made down in the city," Syris explained, holding the tablet out. "We just spent weeks brutally tearing down the biggest criminal empires in New York. We destroyed corrupt billionaires. We made a lot of very scary, very dangerous people incredibly angry."

Torian crossed his arms, his bright blue eyes going totally cold. "So what? Let them be angry. They can’t touch us."

"They can’t touch us," Syris agreed, his voice totally serious. "Because they know we are terrifying. But they don’t know about Roxy yet. And they definitely don’t know she is carrying three heirs to our new empire."

Syris looked back down at his tablet, his jaw clenching tightly.

"We have a major problem," Syris warns them, his green eyes totally dark with worry. "If the media or our enemies find out about us and Roxy is pregnant with triplets, they will put a target on her back."
