Chapter 32: Chapter 32. Rejecting their offers.

Aiden stepped out of the Warriors’ Association Building.

He headed back to campus.

On his way, he tapped on his watch twice.

His university profile has been updated.

Where his ID was, his rank had been updated to intermediate rank 1 warrior. Since the id now has a connection to his warrior account connected to the Global Warrior’s Association database, whenever he updated his rank in the Warrior’s Association, it would reflect on his uniciety profile.

As for the amount of money he had obtained, coupled with the amount he got from selling the beast corpses and their energy cores from the special pocket world, it was quite astronomical.

Aiden nodded. It was always a good thing to have money, whether one had use for it or not.

The cab pulled to a stop before Aiden’s villa.

Aiden paid the cab driver, and the cab left.

Aiden saw a lot of people from the other villas across his own, staring intriguingly at a group of people waiting outside Aiden’s villa.

"What are these powerful second year students doing here?"

"Don’t you know them? They are all intermediate rank 1 warriors. They are all here to invite Aiden Vhorn into their societies!"

"Aiden Vhorn, who is he?"

"Do you not read anything on campus online forums?"

"A video was uploaded a few minutes ago. Several second years were at the Warrior’s Association to update their rank. According to them..."

"Why do you have that expression on your face?"

"Yeah, say what you want to say?"

"Aiden Vhorn, a first year student, who became a warrior in not more than two weeks, is now an intermediate rank 1 warrior!"

"What?"

"Bullshit! How the hell is that possible? Even geniuses take months to make breakthroughs from one sublevel to another. What the hell? If you wanted to lie, you could have picked a better one!"

"It’s true! I watched the video too!"

"Yeah. Have look."

Some were watching the video of what happened at the Warriors Association. The person who took the video really did well. Although the room Aiden’s assessment happened in had transparent walls, getting such a clear image was not easy.

Plus, from the angle it was taken, the person was outside the room, in the queue. But they had been able to edit the video to have a very clear quality.

So the viewers could see everything clearly.

The proof was before them.

Aiden Vhorn was an intermediate rank 1 warrior.

"That’s not all," the person who showed them the video added, shocking them further. "Check the Heavenly Ascension ranking list."

Everyone checked the Heavenly Ascension ranking list.

Aiden Vhorn was ranked 24100.

"And check the missions log."

They checked the mission log.

His first mission had medium difficulty...

It was also a mission that would have normally required more than one person to complete, even for average second-year students.

But this fellow... he actually overcompleted it.

As for his second mission, it had a high difficulty level...

A high difficulty level. A first-year student completing a high difficulty level mission in his first semester...?

If several talented first-years in their first semester, without much experience, had gathered together for this mission, and they had completed it, it would have been considered an achievement in its own right.

But Aiden Vhorn had completed it alone??

What sort of lunatic was this Aiden Vhorn?

Also, with just two missions, he was now ranked 24100 on the Heavenly Ascension Ranking list.

The person rumored previously to be the strongest first year, Asmodeus Vincent, had to complete a lot of Medium Difficulty missions by teaming with some second-year students of influential backgrounds he had some connections with from before his enrollment. Even that had to be considered a genius effort because, according to the second-years who were with Asmodeus during their missions, he was not a burden. He could carry his own weight.

But this... was on another level.

This Aiden Vhorn was too extraordinary.

If he completed two more high difficulty missions, won’t he overtake Asmodeus Vincent on the Heavenly Ascension ranking list?

It was clear from this that Aiden Vhorn was the strongest first year.

"Wait... why does he look so familiar? Is he the guy who helped some second years close a gate?"

"Yeah, it’s him. He also beat up one young master from the Han Chamber of Commerce."

"Apparently, he actually beat up a second year till the fellow shit on himself."

"Why the hell does someone who has not been on campus for even a month has so many crazy feats??"

"I now understand why those high ranking members of their societies are all here to recruit him into their societies."

"Yeah."

Aiden understood the situation from the conversations happening across the place.

"It seems keeping a low profile is harder than I thought," Aiden thought. "I don’t have any plans of joining any society, though. I will only be dragged into meaningless society conflicts. Making connections is not necessarily a bad thing. But not at the expense of my safety."

He mused further.

"What’s worse is you can’t just leave these societies after joining. You’ll be labeled an enemy of the society and hunted down by every society member on campus. Outside campus grounds, you may even be killed for leaving the society. An unspoken rule the societies have adopted to make sure their members hardly betray them. Why should I allow someone to control me?"

It was big fat no. He wouldn’t join their societies.

His primary goal of cultivation was eternal autonomy through power.

Why would he align himself with parties the took the very goal of his cultivation away from him?

Aiden eventually arrived before the recruiters from the second year societies.

He greeted the society leaders politely.

"Evening seniors. How may I help you all?"

A tall lady in jeans and t-shirts approached him first.

"I am Leah from the Hourglass Society. I’m here to invite you into our society. You’ll become a high ranking member on joining."

A dude with a buzz cut added, "I am Butler from the Treehill Society. I am here to..."

About four more people introduced themselves and stated their reason.

They were all here to recruit him into high membership into their societies.

And they all wanted to make him a high ranking member of their societies.

The spectators were quite shocked. Being a high ranking member of a society meant that you were one of the society’s leading figures. A first-year student as a society leading figure? That was unheard of.

But Aiden Vhorn had the qualifications. His feats spoke for themselves.

What decision will he make? Many thought.

If some of them were in his shoes, they’d happily join the societies. The connections would be worth it. Also, one could not be bullied on campus by others easily. If you targeted someone who belonged to a society, the society members would come after you. Also, the societies of course, benefited from having talented individuals among them. In case of conflicts between societies, having strong people would prove helpful. Plus, having someone talented in your society gives an opportunity to form a lasting connection with them, which could be helpful even after school. Many powerful people affiliated with each other knew each other from their university campus societies.

"If he refuses the offer, then it means he’s telling these societies these second year students represents to fuck off. Some of them may respect his decision. But others won’t. The Hourglass Society and the Tree hill society in particular are known for using forceful methods if you refuse to join them. Partnerships, assassinations and ambushes on missions outside campus. Bullying of all sorts on campus grounds. To them, that’s their way of maintaining face. They think their pride is their currency. Also, this method forces people into fear. So people hardly refuse their offer," someone in the crowd whispered to another.

Aiden finally replied calmly, "I really appreciate the offers seniors. However, I would have to refuse."
