Chapter 16: Chapter 16. Registration Building
Southern Continent.
Eldorath Empire.
Hessington State.
Derulo City.
Somewhere a few kilometers from the Northern District.
Several vehicles passed across a bridge, below which the ocean waters raged. In one of these cars, two individuals were seated. These two were naturally Aiden Vhorn and Instructor Cosmo.
"Oh, we’ve arrived at Derulo City. This path of entry leads to the Northern District. The Northern District of the City is where the university is. Every other place in the northern district, outside the university, is largely influenced by university life."
Aiden nodded.
Eventually, distant skyscrapers came into view. Very soon the car passed across some of them. A bustling metropolis with bustling activity came into view. Billboards.Chatter. Car horns blaring.
"More developed than Fulco City, right?" Cosmo said.
Aiden nodded.
From the few skyscrapers, the way people he had observed in the streets were carrying themselves, the vehicles, the roads, among other things he had observed through the windows, Derulo City was more high class compared to Fulco City.
"It’s because Derulo City University is one of the best universities in the empire," Cosmo said. "Naturally, the university’s presence will influence the standard of living and the economic structure of the city. All the other districts of Derulo City are as developed as the University district/ Northern District."
Aiden nodded. It made perfect sense.
Cosmo drove to the left at an intersection. The car eventually arrived before a large gate with the writing, Derulo City University. Adjacent to the entrance, a statue of a heroic man with an arrow in his hand piercing towards the heavens, stood.
Aiden knew who the man was. At least he had seen him on television multiple times. Grand Marshal Armstrong Lee. The general leader of the Eldorath Empire Military. One of the most influential persons in the world. A legendary rank 4 warrior. He was also a key member of the International Union, the highest decision making body of the world. The International Union consisted of all rank 4 warriors, and was presided over by the 100 legendary rank 4 warriors of Endra.
The International Union was even above the royal families of empires. They were above The Global Warriors Association, The Global Academic Federation, The Global Artifact Engineers Association, The Global Alchemist Association, and the Global Guild Union. However, they did not involve themselves in the matters of these powers under them.
However, the reason why empires, and none of these powerful organizations, were not doing anything to threaten the safety of Endra was because they knew if they tried anything stupid, they had the International Union to answer to. Empires still had conflicts among one another, politics still existed in the ranks of organizations, but no one dared to go overboard to a point where the International Union had to put them in their place. The International Union putting you in your place meant total elimination.
50 years ago, two empires took their war too far. One rank 4 warrior acted on the orders of the International Union. The royal families of the two empires were erased completely in a minute. The International Union was a no nonsense juggernaut that didn’t hesitate to put an end to any power that threatened the safety of Endra.
"Grand Marshal Armstrong graduated from Derulo City University," Cosmo said.
His words snapped Aiden, who was reminiscing on what everyone knew about the International Union, out of his thoughts.
"From there, he joined the Eldorath Empire Military after completing his two years military service, and climbed the ranks to where he is now," Instructor Cosmo added with a reverential expression on his face.
Aiden understood him. In this world, power was respected above everything.
The instructor was silent after this. He kept on driving. The car had travelled through the gates.
Aiden looked out through the windows. Several young warriors could be seen moving about. There were even some students who were driving their own motorcycles and cars. Some were even flirting here and there. They passed trees, skyscrapers, building complexes, among others.
Eventually, the car pulled to a stop in a garage before a large skyscraper.
"Kindly follow me." Instructor Cosmo stepped out.
Aiden nodded, stepped out and followed the man.
"This is the registration building. I’ve already made some calls. Just hand over your warrior’s card to them for them to scan it. After that, you’ll be enrolled as a first year student, then assigned a class. I have some business to attend to. I hope you make a name for yourself, Mr Vhorn," Cosmo said.
Aiden nodded warmly. "Thank you, sir." He knew the man would get some benefits from the university for making sure another university didn’t reach out to Aiden first. But Aiden did not lack basic courtesy when necessary.
"Don’t thank me. I did everything for the sake of merit. Enrolling a talent like you will grant me some benefits," Cosmo replied with a smile. "But I’m sure someone with your personality already knows that."
Aiden nodded calmly.
After that, Cosmo entered his car and drove off.
Aiden entered the registration building. The ground floor was completely empty, save for a blond female instructor that was seated somewhere across a counter. She looked like a secretary.
Aiden was not surprised that the only two university staff he had come across were all still legendary rank 2 warriors, even after graduation, and completion of their two years military service.
Cultivation became increasingly harder and took longer to achieve, even with great resources and talent, beyond legendary rank 2. Some people could spend a lifetime stuck at the legendary rank 2 warrior level. Only those deemed geniuses could advance faster than the general populace of warriors, if they could, beyond the legendary rank 2 level. This was why there were only 100 legendary four warriors in Endra. And just 5000 total rank 4 warriors on a planet full of an average of 10 million warriors.
As for those at rank 3, they were hailed geniuses in Endra and stood a cut above all warriors. It went a long way to state how rank 4 warriors were valued. They were literally worshiped.
Aiden walked towards the counter, snapping out of his thoughts. When he arrived, the snoring blonde instructor’s eyes snapped open.
"How may I help you?" she said politely.
