Chapter 17: Chapter 17. Hate for Drama

"I’m Aiden Vhorn," Aiden said politely. "Instructor Cosmo directed me here."

"Oh." A glint of realization flashed through her eyes. "You are the new student, the one everyone seems to be talking about, huh?"

"Seems like I’m quite famous," Aiden thought.

"This is not good. Fame is bound to attract annoying people. This is a university full of young adults and teenagers, so arrogant fellows are bound to show up. It seems things can’t be as quiet as I thought they would be," Aiden thought.

The woman added, "Some would want to use you as a stepping stone. Classic thing with hot-blooded young warriors. You sure you’re up for that?"

Aiden simply smiled politely, indicating that he was not here to have a chat about his personal business.

The woman seemed to get the gist of it.

"Alright, let me see your warrior’s card."

Aiden handed it over to her.

The woman entered a particular room. A few seconds later, she returned to the counter.

"You are now officially a student of Derulo City University," the woman said. "Your student ID has been linked to your warriors’ ID. Take this watch. As long as you remain a university student, kindly keep it on. It will only be deactivated after graduation. Tap it."

Aiden nodded. He tapped it. A hologram appeared before him.

"Smooth, right?" the woman replied. "The Artifact Engineers Association branch on campus made this."

Aiden went through the hologram with his hand. University Map, rules (which he was already familiar with), his ranking on the Heavenly Ascension Ranking List at the moment, his contribution points, University Shops... they were all there.

"Class 1A. That’s my class, huh. The first course tomorrow is also wilderness survival. Could be quite useful. Not bad to attend," Aiden thought as he tapped the screen of the watch. The hologram disappeared.

Since he had finally sorted out what he came here to do, it was time to find an apartment. He was about to thank the instructor and leave. However, she was already snoring. Aiden quietly left.

After he stepped out, he found a sidewalk bench and sat down for a moment.

"I should stay on campus. Will make things easier for me," Aiden thought.

He followed the campus map, eventually arriving at the student residential district. After contacting the real estate agent, the procedure was completed and he hired the apartment. He did not know how long it would take before he graduate. So, he only rented it for a year.

Aiden entered his apartment. It was more of a villa than a studio apartment. A living room. Two bedrooms. Kitchen. A garden. Nothing fancy.

Aiden sat on the couch in the living room. For the first time in his life, he had his own place. He really valued this feeling of independence. Aiden’s primary desire in life was eternal autonomy or freedom to live his life how he wanted without anyone’s control ever again. And to do that, he needed power.

His mind went into planning mode.

"I don’t need the cultivation manuals of the university. I also don’t need the cultivation pills for anything, since I don’t rely on worldly energy for cultivation."

He only needed blood essence to grow stronger.

"When I take on missions and get contribution points in the end, I should prioritize using them to have access to the gravity chambers. That will help hone my speed and reflexes in combat. As for combat, I should stick to the basics I know and refine them through combat. I should be fine. The goal is not to be fancy in combat. The goal is survival. And that’s what the basics do. I could have tried some movement techniques of the university, but all cultivation manuals require the use of worldly energy. So, it’s not possible to make use of them. Yeah... the basics I already know will do. I’ll get better through combat experience."

"Another thing I can also make use of is a class of drugs called poisons. I could buy them from the stores and use them to aid me. They could be very important in survival-based scenarios. I could also make use of artifacts such as invisibility bracelets and storage bags. As for weapons and battlesuits, they require the use of worldly energy for one to use them. So, it won’t be possible for me to use them. I can only rely on myself. As a matter of fact, I can manipulate my blood to make up for that."

"I need to prepare for tomorrow’s lecture. But before that, let’s head to the Warriors Association branch in the city to sell the things I obtained from the pocket world."

Aiden left the villa. He headed out of campus through another route and arrived outside the university. After that, he ordered a cab and headed towards the Warriors Association branch in the northern district.

Aiden eventually arrived and sold the things he had obtained. He emptied the storage bag. He made 50,000 dollars just from this. Aiden thought he should head to the artifact engineers and alchemist association branch outside campus to purchase poisons and invisibility bracelets and a better storage bag. However, he decided against it. The branches of these organizations on campus were rumored to have more quality products. Plus, he could buy them with contribution points after completing some missions. Why waste his money?

Aiden returned to campus after that. On the way, he grabbed something to eat, then returned to his villa.

When he arrived, three fellows were outside his villa... Their expressions were not polite... These guys wanted trouble.

"Are you Aiden Vhorn?" a dark-haired fellow with a proud and handsome look swaggered forward.

"Yeah. Any problem?" Aiden replied, voice calm.

"You know Dahlia?" the guy asked.

"Name doesn’t ring a bell," Aiden replied.

Of course he knew her. He just knew where this was headed and he didn’t want to waste time on such nonsense. To think such people actually existed. He thought they only existed in novels. This guy was most likely here to warn him to stay away from the lady. Aiden did not even have any relationship with Dahlia. Neither did he care about her. There was no way he would get into a petty quarrel with some self-entitled fucker over a woman he was not romantically involved with. It was not worth his time.

Aiden’s response, however, made the guy more angry.

"So why does she keep bringing you up?" the guy said.

"Look, it’s Steven Vorisa."

"And his lackeys."

"What are a bunch of second years doing here?"

"Well, I think that guy is quite unlucky. He probably offended them."

"Who is he, though?"

"Wait... I think I saw him on the news!"

"He’s Aiden Vhorn, the guy who played a big role in closing that special rank 1 gate some second years were sent to close."

People in the vicinity were drawn to the altercation. Some even took out their phones to record the altercation. It was not everyday that things got this lively.

Aiden did not reply. He decided to ignore the guy and enter his villa.

"Can you move out of the way?"

Steven was infuriated. "Do you know who I am?"

"Let me guess, you are the lady’s fiancé, probably from a rich family? You have an elder brother or sister on campus in a senior year who will throw their weight around for you when you target weaklings like me, so you think you rule the world, right?" Aiden replied.

"You... how did you know?" Steven said. "It does not even matter. But stay away from Dahlia!"

Aiden shrugged calmly. Each word came out calmly from his mouth. "I don’t give a fuck about you or her. Now stop wasting my time and move out of my way."

Aiden meant every word. Usually, in novels, the person in Aiden’s position will grow attached to someone like Dahlia after this incident. But this was the real world. Aiden did not want anything to do with her. They had met, closed a gate together, and gone their separate ways. That was all. Being well connected would not have been a bad thing. But with this Steven guy’s nonsense, he didn’t want to have anything to do with Dahlia even if there were to be a possibility in the future. If there was one thing Aiden hated, it was drama, and the people who came with it, whether they contributed directly or indirectly.

"Is this dude crazy!"

"He actually told Steven to fuck off?"

"Steven is a powerful beginner rank 1 warrior. Even if Aiden Vhorn is strong, the fellows with Steven are also beginner rank 1 warriors, they are not weak ones. They are second years after all"

"So that’s how it is!"

"Steven is like this! He’s so obsessed with Dahlia. However, he can’t even confront her. Any guy she shows the least bit interest in becomes his prey if he’s weak or not from a strong background."

"Well, as the youngest son of the Vorisa family and Vorisa guild, he can throw his weight around a bit."

Discussions brewed.

Steven fumed. The Vorisa guild was facing financial difficulties. His engagement with Dahlia Covern of the Covern Guild was their ticket out. He did not want anyone to stand in the way of that.

Since this Aiden Vhorn was proving stubborn, he had to teach him a lesson.

He stepped forth, lightning flickered in his eyes as he dashed towards Aiden.
