Chapter 58: Chapter 58 Is the apocalypse ever going to end?

Ding!

{You have unlocked the ability: Faster Healing, host.}

Ivy’s eyes widened slightly.

{No matter how badly injured you are, your body will recover almost immediately unlike normal humans, who may take days or even weeks to heal.}

{And take note, host... your three children have also awakened this ability. It has been granted to them as well.}

"Oh..." Ivy let out softly, her expression shifting.

A deep, genuine smile formed on her face.

"That’s... great."

Her voice dropped, quieter now.

"Fine... my children might never go out into the apocalypse," she murmured, almost to herself, "but accidents can still happen at home..."

Her gaze softened as thoughts of them crossed her mind.

"And as a mother..." she continued, her voice tightening just a little, "...seeing your child get hurt hurts more than anything else."

She exhaled slowly.

This ability wasn’t just useful but reassuring.

Ding!

{Advanced Combat Techniques unlocked.}

Before Ivy could even react,a surge of deep blue light engulfed her once again.

Her body stiffened slightly as information flooded her mind.

Movements, techniques, angles of attack,defensive stances and weapon transitions.

Combat instincts she had never learned before suddenly embedded themselves into her consciousness as if they had always been there.

Her fingers twitched slightly.

Her stance shifted unconsciously.

Her body... remembered what her mind had just received.

A wide smile slowly spread across her face.

Ding!

{Extended Lifespan unlocked.}

"Huh?" Ivy blinked, clearly caught off guard this time.

Her brows furrowed slightly as curiosity flickered in her eyes.

"Does that mean... I can’t die in this world?" she asked, her tone laced with both excitement and disbelief.

Ding!

{It means you will not die easily, host.}

{In the first apocalypse, you survived for ten years before dying.}

Ivy’s expression stiffened slightly at the reminder.

{But in this world... your lifespan has been extended significantly. You are now capable of surviving far beyond that.}

A brief pause.

{Let us say... twenty years or more.}

Ivy went silent for a moment.

Twenty years...

That was double her previous limit.

Double the time to fight, survive and to protect her children.

A thought then surfaced.

The same question that had haunted her before.

Her gaze darkened slightly as she looked ahead, her voice lowering.

"Wait... exactly when does this apocalypse end?" Ivy asked slowly, her tone now serious.

"Or..." she paused briefly, her eyes narrowing just a little,

"...is it never going to end?"

A faint tension crept into her expression.

"This is the same question I kept asking myself during those ten years in the first apocalypse..." she continued, her voice quieter now.

Her fists clenched slightly.

"But I died..."

A brief pause.

"...without ever getting an answer."

Ding!

{I do not know the answer to that, host.}

A brief pause followed before the system continued.

{Perhaps it will be revealed as you explore the apocalypse continent. For now... you should focus on your current progress.}

Ivy let out a long, heavy sigh.

The answer wasn’t satisfying but it wasn’t unexpected either.

A trace of disappointment flickered across her face, though she quickly suppressed it. There was no point pushing the system further if it genuinely didn’t have the answer... or wasn’t willing to give it yet.

"Fine..." she muttered under her breath. frёeωebɳovel.com

She rolled her shoulders slightly, calming herself before speaking again.

"Uhm... you mentioned earlier that my children unlocked some skills, right?" Ivy asked, raising a brow, curiosity glinting in her eyes. "You haven’t told me anything about that yet."

Ding!

{Their bodies are still undergoing preparation for the changes, host.}

{Once the process is complete, you will be notified. You will also be able to see their abilities directly.}

"Oh... I see," Ivy replied, exhaling softly.

A small sigh escaped her lips, but this time it wasn’t out of frustration more like patience being forced into place.

"Alright then..." she murmured, straightening slightly. "I guess I should test my abilities, shouldn’t I?"

With that, she pushed herself up from the bench she had been sitting on. Her muscles felt lighter than before, yet packed with a strange, coiled power

With a single thought, she summoned her armoured vehicle.

In an instant, it materialized right in front of her with a low, silent hum.

Ivy’s eyes gleamed.

Without wasting any time, she walked toward it.

"If my strength has really increased..." she muttered under her breath, placing her hands against the cold metal surface, "...then I should at least be able to lift it. Maybe not completely but I can try."

She adjusted her stance.

Feet planted firmly, grip tightened then she lifted it and the vehicle moved.

Her eyes widened instantly.

The side of the armoured vehicle actually rose off the ground.

A shockwave of disbelief shot through her entire body, sending tingles down her spine.

"What the?!"
