"Oh yeah, I know." Ivy replied with a light chuckle, her voice soft yet confident.
By now, little Hope had fallen fast asleep. Ivy gently laid her down in her small cot, carefully tucking the blanket around her tiny body. For a brief moment, Ivy stood there, watching her daughter’s peaceful face, a faint warmth blooming in her chest.
Her gaze soon shifted.
Across the room, Aria and Lila sat quietly, completely absorbed in the novels Ivy had given them earlier. Today, she had insisted they invest their time in reading rather than watching cartoons and the children had embraced it eagerly. They had not only read the first books but had already moved on to picking new ones, their eyes shining with excitement as they flipped through the pages.
A faint smile curved Ivy’s lips.
At least they’re adapting well.

Without making any noise, she quietly slipped out of the shelter, careful not to alert Aria and Lila.

The moment she stepped outside, the atmosphere shifted.
Scattered across the open space were rows of training dummies perfectly arranged and newly replaced.
Ivy didn’t waste a second before she walked forward, grabbed a bow, and smoothly nocked an arrow.
Her posture straightened. Her breathing slowed.
Then....
TWACK!
The arrow shot forward with precision.

A satisfied smirk tugged at her lips.
Of course it was.
It hadn’t been her first time hitting the bull’s-eye... not even close. After days of relentless practice, it had already become second nature...almost too easy.

She lowered the bow without hesitation and reached for the next weapon.

The weight settled naturally into her grip, as though it belonged there.
Her legs spread slightly apart for balance. She bent her knees just enough, her body lowering into a stable stance. Her gaze locked onto the nearest dummy.

One after another, the heads rolled to the ground in quick succession, scattering across the floor.
Unknown to her children and the monsters nearby....not a single sound escaped.

No noise to attract danger and no fear to disturb the children.
Time passed and Ivy didn’t stop.
Even in between sessions, she would return inside....checking on baby Hope, making sure she was comfortable, responding to Aria and Lila whenever they called her. She reassured them each time with gentle words before heading back out again.
To Ivy, shooting these dummies was no different from facing real monsters.
Her aim never wavered and her targets never changed.

She didn’t need anyone to tell her anymore....if you wanted to kill those creatures quickly, you aimed for the head.

She wiped the sweat from her forehead with the back of her hand, her chest rising and falling steadily. The cool night breeze brushed against her damp skin, offering some relief.
"I guess that makes sense," she thought inwardly. "Shooting these dummies really does feel like I’m playing a video game..."
There was no boredom and no exhaustion she couldn’t push through.
