Chapter 93: Complicated dinners (6)

Aurora felt uncomfortable in the current position she was in. The food had long arrived with the cook Abel describing what he prepared but it was not this making her uncomfortable. No! It was the man beside her who would not stop watching her take even the smallest bite. What was so interesting about her eating that the man could not look away? "You should pay attention to your own food or you might mistakenly eat something that dropped inside of it," she said in hopes he would get the hint to look away.

"I am in tune with my surroundings and enjoying the sight in front of me. Enjoying the food?" Vincent asked.

"Yes, and you know that because of how you have been watching me. Is there something you wish to say or is this just a habit you have to stare at guests?" Aurora was extra cautious of how she ate and tried not to make a mess in front of him but her poor hand was shaking out of nervousness.

Vincent no doubt should be a torturer. His burning gaze caused her heartbeat to speed up and her forehead to sweat. If only he could feel an ounce of what she was going through he would stop playing with her.

"If you are bored you should read a book. If not, can we please talk to make the staring less awkward?"

Vincent looked away from her happy that his teasing was getting to her. "Awkward? It doesn’t feel awkward to me."

’Because you’re the one doing all staring,’ she said to herself. It wasn’t fair he was the one always teasing her. One of these days when she is more comfortable around him, she’ll have him running for the hills.

"What are you smiling for, Aurora? Thinking of me?" Vincent asked, watching her turn red which confirmed she was. It was weird to see how she was the complete opposite of her old self when it came to these kinds of things. If the woman he knew was somewhere in there still she had to be getting secondhand embarrassed for herself.

"What are you smiling about, Vincent?" Aurora flipped the question to him now that he was the one smiling. He looked pretty handsome when he smiled like this.

"Thinking of a special woman," he replied, reaching forward to help Aurora cut her meat. "Wondering how she will react to these moments if she ever returns. By the way, we’re still celebrating the full moon so you will hear a lot of noise later on as the night goes on. Would you like to go out and enjoy it?"

Aurora had missed the harvest moon festival when she really wanted to enjoy it and this was another opportunity for her to enjoy a festival but she was the odd one out in this place. No doubt all eyes would be on her tonight, especially with Vincent right next to her. That was the last thing she needed at the moment. "Thank you but I’ll stay in tonight and watch from my window or something."

"When are you going to learn to do the things you want without caring about what others think? The world will always be judgemental and its eyes will always be on you. Will you hide in here forever or go out and enjoy what you want? It sucks being like everyone else Aurora." He knew she preferred to hide her white hair because it was unusual to normal people but she was around werewolves now. There was nothing normal here. He changed into a beast and others could become wolves.

"I don’t plan to hide away forever but I’m not accustomed to the people here and I haven’t missed the way you kept looking around today like you were looking for someone. It’s not easy embracing being the odd one out too. I don’t have your amount of confidence yet. I will attend next year." It was a confirmation that she liked it here already and would stay for a whole year.

Vincent was surprised she had known he was looking out for danger since her eyes never lingered on him too long to see what he was doing. He would have to do the same tonight if they went out with the others. "Instead of just taking you out here and there and having people curious about you, it’ll be best that I do a full introduction so you feel more comfortable. My brother’s birthday is coming up and it’ll be a good time for you to go out and interact with others. Everyone is always invited to the celebration."

"Don’t look so scared Aurora. I will be right next to that day and no one will harm you with me around. Would you want to go?" He asked so it wouldn’t be like he was forcing her to do this. Vincent will help her break away from her shy shell and allow her to experience the things she wants to. Why let others’ opinions stop you from doing what you want?

"Okay," Aurora agreed.

"Good. Now I’ll force my brother to have a party," Vincent made a mental note of this. This year Victor hadn’t planned anything but now he will. Especially when his dear older brother wanted it to happen. freewebnovel.cσ๓

Aurora almost choked on imaginary food in her mouth upon learning that there was no initial party and now Vincent was going to force his brother to have one. "It’s his birthday. Maybe you should let him figure out what he wants."

"Nonsense. I could tell he wanted a party this year but needed a little push to motivate him in planning. He’ll have you to thank for it."

Aurora didn’t like that he was giving her the credit for this happening. "How about we just go enjoy the festival outside and forget about the party idea? Let’s not bother your brother and make him have to invest time and money into this."

"You can’t fool me Aurora. We’ll be attending my brother’s party. Enjoy your dinner, I have a letter to send to my brother," Vincent abruptly stood up pushing back his chair with a loud noise. Once he made up his mind about something, there was no changing it.

"What on earth just happened?" Aurora muttered watching him leave the dining room.
