Chapter 87: Thorns (3)

"Don’t you see that?" Aurora asked after moments had passed but Mari hadn’t brought up the fact there were two Aurora’s in the room.

Mari continued looking around for what spooked Aurora but didn’t find anything out of the ordinary. "What is it? Did you see a spider? I can get rid of it for you right away. They don’t scare me one bit and I can get rid of the spider without killing it."

"I..." Aurora stopped herself knowing it was pointless to try and explain what she was seeing to Mari. How was supposed to explain seeing a double of herself? Mari might believe her to her face but then start to think she was becoming crazy later on. "The spider went inside of the bathroom," she lied to distract Mari. freёweɓnovel.com

"Tried to sneak past me you sneaky little thing," Mari went back into the bathroom looking for the eight-legged creature.

With Mari gone, the other version of herself smiled back at Aurora. "How much freakier can my life get?" she muttered but didn’t move a step ahead. So much for confronting moments like this head-on.

"I should be the one saying that. I’ve been watching everything through your, no, our eyes. Don’t scream," the other Aurora held her hands to her mouth to keep quiet so that Mari wouldn’t come back out. She listened to Mari cursing because she couldn’t find the spider. "It took a lot of energy to appear like this, do not ruin it by screaming."

"Where did you come from?" Aurora whispered, stepping forward to talk to herself. This had to be at the top of the weirdest thing she ever experienced.

"Inside of you. We will return to normal soon and remember everything so there’s no need for you to stress about it-"

"I don’t think you might’ve seen a spider Aurora. There’s nothing in the bathroom," came Mari’s voice from the bathroom.

"I can’t stay out here any longer but look into the history of the Hamiltons while you wait for us to return to normal. We’ll be fine, I promise."

"Wait!" Aurora said, holding out her hand to grab herself but she was left with Mari popping out of the bathroom again.

"Do you want me to stop looking for the spider? And if you were talking to me before the spell in your room is messing with my hearing. Are you okay Aurora?" Mari asked, noticing the confusion written all over Aurora’s face. Whatever happened with the thorns must still be getting to her. "I can ask Vincent to call the doctor."

"I’m fine," Aurora muttered but it didn’t convince Mari nor herself. Of all things, why the history behind the Hamiltons? Was it the history from when she first met them or long before she even came to them? How was she even supposed to get this information when she was away from the human towns? The only person to ask would be Vincent and she knew talking about the Hamiltons annoyed him. "I’m going to take my bath alone in Mari. Can you pick out my clothes for dinner in the meantime?" ƒreewebηoveℓ.com

"Okay."

Aurora went to the bathroom and closed the door to be alone. She sighed as she pushed against the closed door. Her nerves were getting the best of her because of so many unfamiliar things happening. Goddess, werewolves, powers, and more were taking a toll on her and she was almost to the point of breaking down.

"So much for wanting to be normal." Aurora always wanted to be normal back when she was living with the Hamiltons but the universe must have something against her and kept making her life get stranger by the day. Gone were the days when having a head full of white hair was her worry. "Is it possible for me to just block out everything that’s happening around me for one day and just enjoy a moment of peace?"

She let go of the door and instead decided to bang her head against it whilst ignoring Mari on the other side speaking to her. "Hamilton’s history? Anyone you ask passing by would tell you the Hamiltons were always known as a rich family though I am not certain how exactly their wealth began. It didn’t start with me but I helped save them when they went into debt. That’s oddly convenient."

"Where am I going to find information on them? I already have one problem for the night with making Vincent understand what happened a while ago was nothing more than a big misunderstanding. I need to do that first and then let him help me find a way to know more about the Hamiltons." Aurora started to take off the garment she wore to bed earlier, dropping it to the floor. She placed one foot into the warm water Mari prepared for her and then another.

A warm bath was enough to calm her mind and take away the stress filling her days. Aurora leaned back against the rim of the tub and looked up at the ceiling to find a painting of roses. She smiled sliding down the tub until her head was completely underwater.

Vincent emerged out of the water in his large tub after going under to get rid of the blood from his wounds. The wounds had already started to heal so he wasn’t too concerned about them. He swept black his hair out of his face and rested his arms against the marble floor surrounding the tub. The tub was like a hole in the floor, decorated with marble both on the inside and outside. It was a hefty item for anyone here to pay for but he had generational wealth because his family took on the position of being leaders.

Vincent poured himself a glass of alcohol from a bottle he brought from his private collection in his bedroom. Everything he smoked or drank had to be a lot stronger than what others ingested. He was tempted to have another cigar but smoking twice in one day was not something he wanted to find himself doing.

Vincent brought the cold glass to his lips but paused to think of the sight from Aurora’s bedroom and the fact she called his name. He liked to believe she wasn’t scared of him but Aurora wasn’t completely the woman who loved him despite him having flaws and being a beast. "How can you be upset if she really was scared, idiot," he poured all the contents from the glass into his mouth and swallowed.
