Chapter 84: [Bonus Chapter] Wolf in sheep clothing (3)

"I’m sorry if I stepped out of line with my assumptions," Jane apologized for being wrong this time. She was just making sure Aurora would never put herself in a position to cause harm to Vincent but she had not thought about Victor or his parents. She felt guilty for making him mention his parents because it was a topic he tried to avoid.

"No apology needed. I was the one that told you to speak your mind and I prefer when people are honest about what they feel. Now that you know how it is when it comes to my weaknesses, you know that I am not playing around with those I care for. I am only smoking to relax because of what is about to come. My uncle’s mistress sent an invitation to my home," Vincent dusted off the ashes on top of the white envelope. freeweɓnovel.cøm

"She is his wife, not his mistress Vincent. They’ve been married for over three years now," Jane reminded him. She wasn’t fond of the woman but she had acquired the promotion from mistress to wife. freēwēbηovel.c૦m

"The only wife I will acknowledge is his previous one. How she didn’t retaliate after he brought another woman into her home and openly said she must get along with his mistress is beyond me. The next time Cecilia sends an invitation to me, I’m going to send her back a box filled with dead animals." Cecilia Lawerence was his uncle’s current wife and though she knew Vincent disliked her and preferred the previous wife, she was trying her best to play the role of aunt.

The woman was nothing more than a power seeker and before she had made a move to destroy his uncle’s marriage, she made advances at both Vincent and Victor. That was not the kind of aunt Vincent needed in his life where he had to lock the door to get away from her creepy flirtatious behavior.

Though he disliked most people around his uncle, his previous wife was one he had warmed up to because she was a friend of his late mother and so she treated him like a son. Kelly Lawerence was the only person with common sense around his uncle. Vincent never understood why the woman fell in love with such a man and stuck around for so long. When his uncle decided he preferred being around Cecila more than his wife, Kelly gracefully left the house with her head up high holding onto her daughter’s hand.

"You can’t continue to call the woman a mistress to her face. What was the invitation for?" Questioned Jane. Though they didn’t have a good relationship with the other side of the Lawerence family, it was best not to alert the entire community that there was animosity in the family. Vincent could not avoid going to the parties his uncle Graham invited him to.

Graham knew not to try to kill Vincent in a room filled with people who would retaliate against someone trying to kill their alpha.

Vincent shrugged, pushing the invitation towards Jane since he hadn’t opened it. He had no plans on going to whatever they were planning especially since he was not taking Aurora anywhere near there.

Jane picked up the invitation and read all of the contents. She scoffed and threw it back down on the table because of the audacity of the woman. "It’s not an invitation but a proposal of her being the one to throw Victor’s upcoming birthday party because she is your aunt."

Jane intentionally left off the last past that said, "And because Victor has no mother."

Cecilia was sleeping with Graham long enough to know the man had something to do with his brother and his wife’s death. To send something like this to Vincent, the woman had truly lost her mind. If she thought this proposal was going to make any of them think she was a saint looking out for Vincent and Victor, she was dead wrong. Jane, Vincent, and Victor all saw Cecilia for what she truly was. Jane didn’t trust the woman as far as she could throw her.

Vincent only continued to smile while bringing the cigar to his lips then blew out the smoke. Each year his uncle had this stupid idea of trying to throw a party for Victor and each year Victor had declined it. Victor was more cordial with their uncle even when he disliked Graham. Since Victor was easier to approach, Graham loved to try showering him with gifts to get Victor to trust him. This time, he used his wife to do it.

"Send the proposal to Victor since it is about him. Our addresses are hard to mix up but they went out of their way to make sure I know what they are doing like every other year. This obsession my uncle has must come to an end. It feels like a young girl continuously trying to get her crush to notice her. It’s weird since it’s my uncle doing it," said Vincent. What kind of reaction did his uncle think he was going to get out of him by sending this? Vincent did not care.

"Victor won’t be pleased with this. I never thought it could be possible but he hates Cecilia more than you do. It’s best we just burn the proposal and act like we never even received it. I don’t care what the men he has watching you claim to see. If you don’t mind, I can get rid of those men for you." She was tired of seeing the men hired by Graham keeping an eye on Vincent’s home like you obviously couldn’t smell them.

"No, leave them as they are for now since he’ll just hire a new bunch of them to stalk me. If I want to get rid of the puppets I must kill the puppet master. I’ve allowed my uncle to live here peacefully for too long without answering the questions about my parent’s death only because I did not want to be the monster in his children’s life like he was in mine. That ends now."
