Chapter 83: Wolf in sheep clothing (2)

"She went to sleep after the witches placed a spell on her room so no one could enter unless she called their name. Are you really not upset about the witches being here or are you just trying to please her?" Jane figured it was the latter but she still asked anyway. Allowing Aurora to do whatever she wanted just to please her will backfire soon enough. ƒгeewёbnovel.com

"Not upset if she trusts them. I know they sold her the book which had information on me. As long as they don’t put a spell on me or her then I am fine. Still keep a closer watch on her to make sure she doesn’t call them too often. They are still witches at the end of the day and they accept jobs from all creatures." Vincent sat behind a desk with his feet on it while he blew smoke into the air. Smoking helped to calm his nerves so he wouldn’t lose himself.

There were times when Vincent was so angry that he couldn’t control transforming into the alpha even when there was no full moon. The beast could sometimes have a mind of its own acting upon the opposite of what Vincent wanted. If others knew this, like his uncle, they would try to claim he’s unfit to lead them.

Jane remained unbothered by the smoke filling up the room. What she didn’t like was him pushing problems aside for Aurora. Clearly, he was upset that the witches were here. It was evident by his smoking. What else had pissed him off to make him smoke? "Are you going to run back and be like this every time she does something you don’t like?" freewēbnoveℓ.com

"I said I’m not upset about it Jane. I have my own issues with the witches and she doesn’t have any. I’m not going to like certain people and vice versa but she might have a better relationship with them. If they are not a current threat to her, I can’t make her not have friends. If I know they are looking to harm her, I can step in to help her." It was obvious Aurora didn’t want to have the feeling that someone looking over her shoulder telling her what she can and can’t do or saying who she can’t be friends with.

He was not going to be controlling to push her away but at the same time, he was going to give her advice about the people she will encounter in the future. Being almost turned into a goat accidentally pissed him off but it had nothing to do with Aurora for her to avoid the witches.

"Then why are you smoking?" Asked Jane.

"Because this is my house," he blew out more smoke. There were other things in his life he was upset about and needed calming down from. Just because Aurora was here now didn’t automatically mean his smoking had something to do with her. However, he didn’t plan to explain that obvious fact to Jane. "Tell me what you are itching to say, Jane."

"It already feels like you’re willing to accept everything she does to not seem like the bad guy. If anyone else were to have invited those witches inside of your home you would’ve been furious. I find it hard to believe this was all a coincidence finding you smoking after you left the room. Everyone calls you the big bad wolf and maybe you don’t want her to see you that same way but it’ll backfire if you don’t tell her when she’s wrong."

"You were in there when she apologized for making the mistake, right? What do you want me to do? Continue to hold it over her head? I am not upset about it Jane but I am getting upset with you pushing the idea that I am. Normally, you are much smarter than this. Is it because you don’t like her or something?" He didn’t see why Jane was making this such a big deal when he already said he was fine with it.

The witches gave her a spell to speak freely without anyone listening to her which he would’ve needed to get her soon. In the end, she would’ve convinced him that she knew witches and the trio would’ve shown up in his home anyway. According to Jane, they gave Aurora a spell on her door so that no one could just enter her room. It would be helpful in the future if there was ever an emergency. And it was the two skilled witches who did the spells, not the one who almost turned him into the goat.

"You never had a weakness before and now your uncle has something to use against you. You need to place some rules of things she can’t do while she’s here. Your uncle is plotting against you as we speak. Vincent, you brought me here to protect her but my main focus is to protect you. Don’t let your feelings for her put you in danger one day." Vincent’s safety came before anyone else in her eyes. She refused to let a man like his uncle take Vincent’s spot.

Jane found over the years that Vincent didn’t care who led the wolves as long as it wasn’t certain family members like his uncle. With his uncle gone, Vincent might try to pass his position onto Victor but though they were brothers, Victor did not show the same strength Vincent had. Vincent was the only one she ever saw kill a royal vampire and walk away from the battle with little wounds. There was no one fit to replace him.

"You’re wrong about some of the things you said. I did have weaknesses before and I will have many of them in the future-"

"I know she has been here before," Jane interrupted him.

"That was not what I meant. My parents were always my weakness along with my little brother. Aurora later became added to that list. Two of those people have already died and to hear you make the assumption that I am perhaps being too carefree with Aurora pisses me off. I am doing everything in my power to protect her and Victor better than I did with my parents but what I will not do is make her a prisoner again."
