Chapter 82: [Bonus Chapter]Wolf in sheep clothing (1)
"Thank you for looking out for me." Aurora knew one look at herself and no one would think she had a sense of danger or maybe she was too carefree but with what she learned in the past days, she had been on alert since then. That was how she knew something was wrong when Duncan tried to approach her after the others left for the festival.
"If you have spoken with them before I can see why you might trust them. I said what I said because here we have a lot of wolves in sheep clothing. They are a lot trickier than anyone you have ever encountered and will try to be nice to you to get to Vincent. I need you to be careful for the sake of Vincent."
Aurora understood that but she didn’t plan to speak to anyone here that Vincent didn’t introduce her to. He knew the wolves much better than her. Even with Mari, she already planned for the girl to give her a rundown about everyone here. "I understand. Do you mind if I just take a rest for a few hours? The heels on my shoes are becoming unbearable."
Jane looked down at the shoes and grimaced at how uncomfortable they were. Beauty was a pain her mother always said. Not the kind of beauty Jane ever wanted. "Okay, I will wait downstairs till you have finished resting."
"Oh no, you don’t need to wait. I don’t want to keep you here waiting so long while I sleep. It seems a bit selfish of me." She wasn’t going to sneak out and leave Vincent’s home since that would be asking for trouble and she didn’t plan on leaving her room. She truly wanted to take a break after the eventful morning.
"Vincent might leave at any moment and it would be a hassle if he had to call for me. It’s more convenient for me to stay here. I also do not have anything else to do so please do not feel bad." Derek will soon be leaving to go to the human town and her dinner with her mother wasn’t till later.
"If that is what you prefer then so be it. I will only rest for an hour or so."
"Goodbye for now," Jane left to inform Vincent of this.
With Jane gone, Aurora released a deep breath she was holding in. She sat down on the bed and stared at the wall before taking off her shoe moments later. She loved this pair she brought with her but if she stood in them too long her feet would ache. Having her shoes off she went to the bathroom to wash her hands of the dirt from the garden then came back out, taking off her dress so she was now only in her garments.
Aurora didn’t want to call a worker up to give her warm water to bathe with after being out of the house so she opted to lay in the bed with only her garments till it was time for someone to bring her more water. The water going into her room was currently cold which meant someone had to warm it up somewhere else in the home.
Aurora hadn’t found it in her heart to order any of Vincent’s workers to do anything for her since she was an outsider they might not like. In their eyes, who was she to tell them anything even though Vincent advised them to treat her well? She wasn’t going to play like she was the lady of the house. Peter was an exemption because they spoke after Derek left and the gardener said since they had become friends, she could ask for anything.
"I need to build a relationship with everyone here," she muttered, crawling to the middle of the bed. She didn’t have a good relationship with many of the workers at the Hamilton home except for the gardener and she didn’t want that to be repeated here. She and Abel started off on the wrong foot but that could change.
Aurora tried to force herself to fall asleep but it wasn’t working even when she closed her eyes. Negative thoughts were starting to fill her head since the room was so silent. She pinched herself on the arm to think about the pain rather than anything else. "Why am I thinking about Minnie right now? She can’t come to get me here," she muttered watching the door to her room in case someone suddenly opened it.
"I need to find a hobby to be able to think about other things. I hope Peter gets the blueberries soon for me to occupy my free time to make the pie. I wonder if Regina is safe," Aurora softly spoke out loud. freewebnoveℓ.com
It was less than twenty-four hours since she last saw Regina and it was too soon for Vincent to find out anything happening with the Hamiltons. She wondered if Minnie had taken her frustration out on Regina? Aurora wasn’t gullible in thinking no one would believe Regina didn’t help her escape. Regina needed to act this out perfectly or one slip up will get her in big trouble.
"I should’ve convinced her to come with me. Here it is much better than there." But even with saying this, she thought it would’ve been wrong of her to ask Regina to leave with her. They weren’t blood-related so how could she have asked Regina to leave with her.? This was why she wasn’t feeling upset with Samuel anymore. They had good memories but at the end of the day, she wasn’t their family. As long as the two of them were safe, she was happy.
"I need to start practicing what I can do with plants tomorrow and figure out how I can remember my past." She was tempted to ask the witches if there was a spell to restore memory but then Aurora decided it might not be the best idea to let a witch place a spell on her especially with one of them almost turning Vincent into a goat. She giggled imagining this and pulled the blanket on her bed, over her head to try and fall asleep.
