Chapter 76: Motivation (2)

"I’m already calm."

"Take a look at your hand and see that you’re not calm. I know you are upset that things aren’t going the way you planned but she doesn’t look turned off. If anything, she looks happy to be down there playing in the dirt with flowers, bugs, and whatever else is down there. See this as a blessing whenever you want to distract her. Mess up the garden here and there if you catch my drift pal. Okay not pal," Derek backed up even more when Vincent growled at being called pal. "Talk about anger issues."

"Any movement from my uncle yet? He probably knows about her being here already. His men aren’t too good at hiding," Vincent looked at the path beside his home others were passing by on. Some were trying their best to take a peek inside. Because of this, he’ll have the stone wall built even higher.

"I caught two of them keeping an eye on your home when I arrived but I didn’t approach them. You know he’s going to use her as a weakness against you. He’s been waiting for an opportunity like this and he’s going to rally others behind him for the alpha not being with another werewolf. She’s going to have a target on her back from your uncle, other people who don’t like you, and women who want that spot."

"I know," Vincent replied, watching the gardener walk up to Aurora. "But she’s strong enough to protect herself. She just needs time to practice. Till then I will try to keep her out of reach from those people. Get him out of my house right now before I break his arm."

Derek stepped back up to the window now that Vincent moved away to go to his desk. He saw the gardener perhaps scolding Aurora. ’Do these people not realize they’re playing with fire? This damn man will get me killed,’ he thought to himself.

"Excuse me for a moment, Vincent. I’ll get rid of the gardener right away. Stare at a wall and calm down or something. Remember to calm down," he stated before bolting out the door down to the garden. Now that he was closer, Derek could hear the gardener scolding Aurora for moving the bucket of water he had placed somewhere else.

"I don’t know who you are lady but anyone would look and think I need help with my job." freewёbn૦νeɭ.com

"Sorry, I was just passing by and I saw that they needed a bit of water. I didn’t mean to offend you," Aurora didn’t know how she ended up in this position. Shouldn’t he be glad someone gave him some help while he was away? Truthfully, the more she was in the garden the more she realized he must not have been doing much. freewebnσvel.cøm

"You don’t even smell like a werewolf. How did you get in here-"

"John!" Derek called the gardener before he could question Aurora more.

"Yes sir! And my name is not John, it’s Peter. Do you know this woman?" Peter asked Derek.

Derek chuckled, patting Peter on his back so the man would gain some common sense. "This is the woman Vincent told all of you to be good to you idiot," he continued to laugh and nod his head when Peter realized his mistake. "Nice to meet you, Aurora. My name is Derek. This wasn’t how I planned to introduce myself. Do you mind if I have a little private talk with Peter here? Feel free to keep checking out the garden."

"Okay. It’s nice to meet you, Derek. I’m sorry Peter for moving the water bucket," Aurora apologized to the gardener but this time he smiled and waved her off.

"Oh no. I was wrong for not keeping the bucket close to the roses. You did well miss Aurora," Peter sang a different tune now that he knew who she was. He felt stupid for forgetting the important announcement Vincent gave them the other day. His hands started to sweat at the possibility Vincent heard what he said.

"Okay," Aurora replied, confused by his change in attitude. One minute he was scolding and the next he was scolding himself. She awkwardly excused herself so the two men could have their private conversation.

"Are you trying to be killed, Peter? She’s the only one here that’s not a werewolf. It should’ve been obvious she was Vincent’s guest and the man hired you to take care of the roses since he planted them for her. Why the hell haven’t you been taking care of them? Don’t you like the pay you receive?" Derek started to pat Peter’s back harder because the man lacked common sense. Someone found him a job for the alpha and he took it upon himself to slack off. "The windows here are pretty clean and Vincent saw what happened. I’m supposed to be firing you."

Peter felt his heart skip a beat from Vincent knowing he was slacking off. He knew how much the alpha hated others slacking off but since he hadn’t been caught in the past, Peter went on with not doing his job. Worst of all, he might’ve just offended the woman Vincent brought here. "Please don’t fire me. I swear I’ll do better from now on. I really need this job."

Derek smacked the back of Peter’s head and said, "So why weren’t you doing it properly in the first place. Lucky for you, I have some advice on how to save your job. Listen closely," he pulled Peter closer. "As a married man, I will tell you, if you want Vincent to give a damn about you needing this job then you need to make the woman he’s with giving a damn about you. Our women are the only ones who can get us to change our minds. If I were you, I’d be making her like me. Catch my drift?"

"Yes, thank you, Derek. Thank you for not firing me. I didn’t know you cared this much," Peter smiled feeling grateful to Derek. They didn’t have any conversations in the past but Derek came down to help him keep his job.

Derek raised his eyebrow and cocked his head to the side confused about why Peter was thanking him. "I don’t care about you, Peter. If you piss Vincent off anymore and he ends up killing you, who do you think gets ordered to get rid of the body? I don’t want to do that shit. In order for me to slack off, I need you to do your job. I hope our little talk motivated you to do better."
