Chapter 75: [Bonus Chapter] Motivation (1)
"Take my hand," Vincent said, helping Aurora off the horse now that they were back to his home. "I will send for someone to tell Mari to return to work."
"Sorry," Aurora apologized for getting off the horse too quickly and having to be caught by Vincent to avoid falling. "I’m not used to horses yet. You don’t have to call Mari since she doesn’t have to return yet. I just want to take a look around your home on my own if that is alright with you. I don’t plan on doing anything suspicious I swear."
"Relax, it’s fine. Just don’t leave the stone wall around the house. It’s not safe for you to be out on your own without me but I sent a letter for someone I trust to be your guard. She’ll be here later for both of you to introduce yourselves and get acquainted. Don’t overexert yourself trying to see everything in one day. You’ll have plenty of time to explore." Vincent was tempted to give her a light kiss on the forehead but stopped himself because he knew it’ll make her feel uncomfortable.
She had no idea how much he wanted her to remember him and their past so that he could kiss her. The way she looked at him listening to his words, how could he not want to kiss and hope it might spark her memory? "I have a visitor to check up on," he sensed Derek was here.
"What’s wrong with him?" Aurora asked herself. Vincent looked conflicted right before he left her. Did she do something wrong? She remembered how this must be torture for Vincent however, she was glad he hadn’t overstepped any boundaries and tried to force himself on her. She had to do her part to not make him uncomfortable. freёweɓnovel.com
Aurora left the horse to start looking around for where the garden might be. Vincent’s home was wonderful on the outside just as it was on the inside. One or two workers passed her by and that was how she got the direction to the garden. Vincent’s home wasn’t big like the Hamiltons but it was big enough to indicate someone important lived here.
"Roses," Aurora smiled, having the red flowers be the first thing to greet her when she reached the garden. Their vibrant red petals stuck out amongst everything else. "Is this where Mari got the petals for my bath this morning?" She stooped down to touch the petals of the roses while careful of the thorns.
If anyone tried to grab the flower too quickly to steal its beauty they would be surprised by the thorns. Blood from a bleeding finger would add more blood to the beautiful flower. "It’s a shame none of the flowers or trees here look old enough to remember me. None of you can tell me about my past like the old oak tree. It’s hard to imagine myself living here before. Why did I leave?"
So far, she liked the people she had met and was happy she had old friends here. What she was most curious about was the relationship she had with Vincent. Her current self had never felt love towards any man. She never loved anyone as much as Vincent must love her to wait so long for her and leave his community to come to get her. When her memories come back, they might rekindle old flames or maybe she’ll remember something bad and wish to go separate ways. The unknown was extremely scary to her.
"I don’t want to think about it anymore. Did they give you some water? The soil looks dry. Where can I get some water?" Aurora muttered looking around for some water. How could they neglect such beautiful flowers? The ground was almost cracking from the lack of water. "Anymore longer and you will all start dying."
She found a bucket of water next to bushes and lifted back to the area with all of the roses. Clearly, the gardener wasn’t doing a proper job taking care of the roses but Aurora was not going to tell Vincent anything. She didn’t anything she said to be the reason someone got fired. She also didn’t mind taking care of the flowers herself since there was nothing left to do here.
Aurora became comfortable mixing up the dirt and water with her hands. She never minded her hands getting dirty like this. She was so focused on the task at hand that she didn’t notice two pairs of eyes watching her.
From the second floor, Vincent quietly watched her taking care of the roses. Beside him stood Derek getting his first peek at the woman Vincent brought home last night.
"It’s not every day you see a lady willing to get her hand dirty like that. She looks so at home in the garden. My mother would kill me if I allowed my wife to play in the dirt which is stupid because we are wolves. We shouldn’t mind getting dirty once in a while. Are you listening to me or staring at her with puppy eyes? I was just about to leave since you weren’t home. If you want to leave to be with her then go," Derek tried to convince Vincent for the benefit of himself. He didn’t want to talk about work right now.
"I’m not allowing you to leave so easily. You’ve been slacking off too much these days. Fire the gardener when you’re leaving," Vincent said, keeping his eyes on Aurora.
"What? Why the hell?"
"I told everyone she’s an important guest but they have been slacking off. Does it make any sense for her to come and have to take care of roses I had planted for her on the first fucking day?" Vincent growled, directing his frustration at Derek. Besides Mari, no one was doing anything right.
"Alright, calm down." Derek took a step back when he saw Vincent’s nails becoming sharper and his hand started to change. Get anymore angry and he’ll shift into the alpha.
