Chapter 71: Never try to deceive me (1)

"No?" Aurora repeated his words. What was so bad about having his brother and friend over for dinner?

"You seem surprised that I can say no to you. I don’t want the two of them in my house and let’s not pretend dear brother that you enjoy visiting me," Vincent reminded Victor. ƒreeωebnovel.ƈom

"Of course, I don’t." Vincent knew that Victor hated coming to visit because Vincent would try to make him share some of the work of taking care of the community. Victor didn’t want to do that. And also, everyone always wanted a favor when they knew he was going to visit Vincent. However, he could stand it if it meant speaking to Aurora and finding out what she had been doing.

There was more than enough time for Vincent to have alone time with Aurora because the man lived with her so why was he being so stingy?

"Then I will go to Victor’s house for dinner without you," Aurora replied, surprising everyone else. Victor smiled while Vincent frowned.

"No," Vincent said as his brother’s house wasn’t as safe as his own. The real reason he didn’t want his brother coming over for dinner yet was it would alert people who hated Vincent that Aurora was someone important. Though Vincent and Victor were close siblings, they only went to each other’s houses for something important and others noticed that. "Pick another day and time then we’ll invite them for dinner. You want the dinner to be perfect with planning right? It’s the first dinner party you would be holding."

Aurora didn’t realize it would be her first time hosting a dinner since she was the one who wanted to invite them over. She always watched Minnie and Rachel plan parties and wanted to give it a try. Her first one should be perfect as Vincent said. "Maybe two days from now," she changed her mind.

One problem she needed to resolve was the rocky start she had with Abel the cook. She didn’t want Vincent to fire him for how he spoke and since he would be the one cooking the food she wanted for the dinner it was best to move forward and put what happened this morning in the past. Though she had a feeling the man was going to hold unto it.

Victor could not believe Vincent convinced her to change her mind so easily. In the past, she had Vincent wrapped around her finger. Victor sighed in defeat this one time giving in to what Aurora wanted. His friend being back and his brother having the missing void in his heart was all that mattered anyway. He’ll do what he can to help his brother protect her this time around.

"Very well. I will be there right on time two days from now. I can’t wait to see what you will plan for us. I have to run an errand I have been putting off but I will see you soon Aurora. Brother," Victor glared at Vincent. "See you later Cherry," he called out to Cherry before leaving.

"Is that really how you say goodbye to someone?" Cherry huffed running out to see Victor hurry off to wherever he was going. A few seconds to tell her goodbye to her face wouldn’t hurt him. "Now I will have to add in a dress for her to wear to this dinner and I will have to find one for myself."

"You have plenty of dresses already," Vincent said, opening the shop door for Aurora so that they may return home. He rarely visited Cherry’s home but the few times he did there were countless dresses all over the place. The woman didn’t need any more dresses.

"You can never have enough dresses and I just gave some away. See you soon," Cherry kissed Aurora’s cheek leaving a faint print of the red paint from her lips. "Something to remember me by.

"Tell me again, do you like men or women?" Vincent asked after the exchange. He used his free hand to rub away the mark Cherry left. If anyone was going to leave a kiss mark on Aurora it was going to be him.

Cherry only smiled and pushed the two out of her door.

"I’ll take that as both of them," Vincent muttered holding onto Aurora so that she wouldn’t fall but she had a smile on her face most likely enjoying Cherry’s behavior. "Home it is," he said, leading her towards where they left the horse.

Away from the community with the wolves, Regina sat beside Samuel’s bed watching him while their mother went outside to speak with the doctor. She continuously tapped her arm whilst staring at the door waiting for her mother to walk back to him. The doctor already said Samuel was on a good path to recovery but their mother kept pestering the man to fix her son now.

"She’s going to chase that man away and he’s the second-best doctor around here. If she could, mother would probably send for the doctor the king uses. Why do you look so ugly?" Samuel asked his sister. There was an awkward silence between them after what happened with Aurora. He expected Regina would be upset and never want to see him again but she stayed with him for hours. Maybe it was because she also betrayed Aurora’s trust.

"I have a lot on my mind and you have no room to be calling anyone ugly when you have that thing wrapped around your head. Does the wound still hurt?"

"No, not since last night. I’m perfectly capable of getting out of this bed but mother insists I don’t. I missed a business meeting I had with my father because of this. I really wanted to tell the ideas I had to my father’s men in front of him. To show I can lead them just as well as my father one day. So much for that." After a moment of silence, Samuel stared at the ceiling and asked, "Do you think Aurora would ever forgive us?"

Regina turned her attention to Samuel knowing he must be sorry for what he did but obviously, he would do it again if he needed to. "Probably not."
