Chapter 64: Tour (2)
"This is so childish," Aurora muttered, opening the door to step outside. She had to get better control of her actions instead of running away when standing before Vincent or he would get the wrong idea and tease her again. "I’m acting like the girls back home when they see a palace guard."
"As you should," came Vincent’s words right beside her which startled her once more.
Aurora placed her hand on her chest, calming down her racing heart. Was he planning to give her a heart attack by scaring her all the time? Why couldn’t he announce his arrival or make sounds with his feet while he walked? It would’ve been a better idea to go on this tour with Mari.
Vincent continued to smile going out to the lone horse they would be riding today. She easily forgot he could hear everything she was saying about him. He wasn’t intentionally invading her privacy but it was hard to avoid hearing what someone was saying with his ears. "Why are you just standing there? Didn’t you want to go on tour?"
’This man is not a good person. He’s a demon,’ Aurora thought to herself. She slowly approached the horse Vincent had saddled up. She wasn’t familiar with riding a horse as she always took a carriage.
Vincent mounted the horse first and kept it still then held out his hand to help pull her up. "Come one. I’ll help you up."
"Thank you," she said, placing her hand on the one he was holding out to her. Aurora placed one foot in the stirrup and tried to help herself up but she didn’t have a good balance. She had never done this before. "Why are you laughing-Wait!" She screamed when he pulled her up onto the horse right in front of him.
"That’s the funniest way I have ever seen anyone try to get on a horse," Vincent chuckled, burying the memory in his mind.
"A lesson would’ve been nice but you would rather get a joke out of me trying," Aurora huffed, upset that he had laughed at her. One of these days she was going to embarrass him and from that day on he’ll regret ever teasing her.
"Are you plotting against me?" Vincent whispered dangerously close to her neck as he leaned forward to grab the reins.
"Yes," she honestly replied. He would never know when the moment was coming. "Someone has to stop your-"
She stopped talking when suddenly the horse started to move. This was not going to be a fun experience living with this man. "I fail to believe you and I might’ve been lovers. I don’t know how anyone can put up with your amount of teasing and games."
"You did. You used to love playing tricks on others sometimes. Haven’t you ever heard boys will tease girls they are interested in?"
"So you took that to a whole other level? I’d prefer if you tell me you like me rather than tease me and make me misunderstand. Why are men so complicated?" Aurora replied to his childish logic.
"Very well. I like you, Aurora. I would say the other word but considering you have no memory of us that might make things really weird. Is that better for you?" He asked and waited for her reply. "That is what you asked for. Why are you not replying?"
"One thing I will say is I admire how you can easily speak what you feel. I envy you, Vincent. And thank you for not saying the other word. It would’ve made me feel uncomfortable. I feel sorry I have no memory of you while you must be happy your past lover is here again. It’s not an easy position to be in," said Aurora.
"Don’t be," Vincent replied looking at the houses they were passing by. People were coming out to see him and the rumored woman who would be staying here. "I’m not expecting you to love me in a day or at all. People change and even though I have held unto my feelings for you, what you remember might cause you to not want to be with me in the future. As long as you are safe, I am happy. But I will still try to make you like me until you remember."
"Such a gentleman."
Vincent cocked his head to the side with a smile growing on his face. "Of course! I was raised to be nothing but a gentleman by my mother."
"If that is true, why are some people looking at you with admiration while others look scared? No one would be scared of a gentleman. Did you think I wouldn’t notice those looks at you?" Aurora questioned looking up at Vincent.
"I show that side to people who deserve to see it. People like you."
"And what do you show to the others to make them so scared? Is it what I saw in my dream?" Aurora asked, looking back at the passing houses. She noticed how all the structures were similar to each other and how many people ran outside to see Vincent. Aurora didn’t miss some of the glares she was getting but she knew it was because they were wary of outsiders.
"No, I show them something much worse," Vincent grinned and because Aurora had looked away from him, she could not see it. "Ignore some of the looks you are receiving. They’ll change in a few days. We don’t trust too many people to visit here as many have tried to betray, attack, and kidnap some of the wolves here. Just be you and you’ll find friends here in no time."
Aurora remained silent because she wasn’t good at making friends and some of the looks she received were starting to look deadly. They passed by many women whose mouths fell open when they saw her riding with Vincent. Aurora wasn’t looking forward to experiencing the jealous retaliation from women who had their eyes on Vincent. freēwebnovel.com
She had more to worry about than fighting over a man who constantly teased her.
