Chapter 52: Trust (2)

"Why are you here?" Aurora questioned in surprise seeing the person who had hit Samuel in the back of his head. Just a second ago she thought they had betrayed her. "What are you doing Regina?"

Regina panted feeling an adrenaline rush after hitting Samuel in the head. She dropped the stick she used to the ground. "He’s going to be okay right? Looks like he’s breathing."

Aurora was still puzzled by what Regina was doing. Wasn’t she going to get Minnie? What was the point of bringing her to Samuel just to knock him out and rescue her? "What’s going on Regina?"

"You didn’t really think I would betray my favorite sibling? My mother was right about needing to start thinking about my future and that’s what I am doing. However, I don’t want you to continue living there. I’m going to take over the Hamilton household and businesses so that you can peacefully return one day so go." Regina planned this out when she first saw Aurora was at the festival. When Aurora leaves, she needed Minnie and the others to think she tried to stop her sister. She wanted them to trust her so that she could get closer to turning the home into turmoil under her command.

Regina continued to say, "I’m going to become the head of the house instead of Samuel."

Regina kept surprising Aurora because the life of being the head of a household had always bored her younger sister. Now she was doing it because of her. "You don’t have to do this because of me-"

"It’s not only because of you but for myself and for this idiot they convinced to turn his back on you. Minnie cannot stay in the position she has and for some reason, I don’t trust my parents. I love them dearly but that house is full of bad people. I might become worse than them to take what I want so I hope when you visit, you won’t judge me," Regina held her head down playing with a patch of grass with her foot. She gasped when Aurora suddenly embraced her.

"I won’t."

Regina held her tears back because this wasn’t goodbye forever. She was sure they would meet again.

Someone cleared their throat and Regina looked up to meet the peculiar eyes of a man she had never seen before. Aurora let go of her sister and turned around to see that Vincent had found her and he had blood on him. Most likely, Seth was no longer a problem.

"Who the hell is that?" Regina questioned pulling Aurora away from the stranger.

"The werewolf," Aurora whispered back.

"You know I can hear both of you," Vincent said, approaching the pair to get a better view of the man they knocked out. "Do you want me to kill him?" freewebnøvel.coɱ

"No!" Aurora and Regina instantly replied. They didn’t want Samuel dead.

"It was simply a suggestion. He’s not going to stay knocked out for too much longer. Are you ready to go? I hope you aren’t taking this one with you?" He lazily pointed a finger at Regina. Vincent wasn’t particularly fond of anyone with the Hamilton last name. They couldn’t be trusted.

"No but who the hell says she’s going with you?" Regina retorted bravely, stepping up to the man. She didn’t care if he was a werewolf, mermaid, or whatever. She wasn’t sending her sister off with a stranger. And she also disliked the way he easily dismissed her.

"Me. I say she’s going with me," Vincent responded, finding it funny how confident this woman was acting. He didn’t care for her but clearly, Aurora did so he was on his best behavior. He was tempted to ask Aurora if she didn’t want this one to be knocked out too.

Aurora placed her hand on Regina’s shoulder to calm her down before the situation could escalate any further. "I’m going with him, Regina. Aside from Minnie, he can tell me about my past. I have no intentions to go back and ask Minnie to tell me anything. And I don’t feel like I am in danger around him."

"Seriously? What happened to stranger danger?" Regina questioned.

Vincent tuned out their conversation and looked down at the unconscious man who was groaning. A sign he was starting to wake up, so he kicked him to make him sleep again. He looked back up and met the astonished eyes of the two women. "He’ll be fine. Probably," he muttered looking elsewhere.

"See what I mean?" Regina pointed to Vincent.

Aurora was starting to second guess her decision but still wanted to go with him. "I’ll be fine. I think." freёweɓnovel.com

Regina pulled in Aurora for one last hug and said, "Poison him if does anything weird. Do you have some on you? Should we go and buy some?"

"I don’t need any," Aurora chuckled because of Regina’s obsession with poison. "Goodbye for now."

"Goodbye."

Aurora left Regina’s side and took the hand Vincent was offering her to take. She didn’t know what to think of this man yet but she was going to trust him for now. If he turned out to be dangerous, she had the plan of learning to grow wolfsbane to protect herself.

Vincent led Aurora away from the festival towards a secret place where werewolves resided out of sight.

It was now only Regina and an unconscious Samuel. She was irritated with how quickly Samuel had turned on Aurora and she hoped his guilt would eat him away inside.

"Let’s start," she muttered, running away to go find Minnie and tell her they had captured Aurora. She felt a little bit sorry towards Samuel for using him like this but he deserved it. Siblings needed to stick together and regardless of if Aurora was not blood-related, she was still their sister.

Regina returned to where she had left her mother and Minnie. "Minnie! Samuel caught Aurora and has her held by the carriages. We have to go now!"
