Chapter 53: Trust (3)

Rachel stared at her daughter not convinced Regina would be in on a plan to keep Aurora and take her back home. She was sure Regina didn’t know why Aurora was so important to the family. It was too suspicious but right now, she chose to stay quiet and watch the outcome.

Minnie hopped up out of her seat as fast as her body allowed her to and hurried off to where Regina was leading them. Duncan had one job to do and he failed it. The last drops of love she felt for him were running out as he was becoming useless. The family might need a new fresh butler who could keep up with her commands. "Hurry Regina, before Samuel loses her."

Minnie knew she should’ve stayed behind and made sure the job was done right. If she lost Aurora tonight, there was no telling she would be able to find the girl again with a beast also looking for her. She set up her guards all around their property so how was Aurora able to escape? "Samuel?" Minnie questioned in worry seeing Samuel was lying on the ground unconscious while Aurora was nowhere in sight. How could he let her go?

On the other hand, Rachel was worried about her son. She got down on her knees, for once not caring about her appearance, and tried to make him wake up. "Samuel! Are you alright son? His head is bleeding," she cried looking up at Minnie who wasn’t even concerned about her grandson.

"What happened? You said he was holding her here," Minnie snapped, turning to Regina. She didn’t trust Regina didn’t have anything to do with this. The girl was always on Aurora’s side.

"I saw her wandering around in the festival and brought her to Samuel. He was going to watch her while I went and tell you two. He wasn’t like this when I left and she was right here. I promise," Regina pleaded to Minnie. "He was holding her right here."

"And why would you come to get us? I have not suddenly forgotten your behavior when it comes to Aurora. Why would you betray her?" Minnie questioned carefully watching Regina for any signs of a lie. If Regina helped Aurora escape, she was dead to this family. You don’t go against your own family. Forget all the parties they had lined up for Regina to find a good husband, Minnie would send her off to the first offer in the morning.

"It has a lot to do with me not wanting her to leave our home because we grew up so close but also a lot with my mother said to me," Regina looked to her mother, sort of throwing her under the carriage. "We were talking about my future the night after Seth had dinner with us and I’ll admit, even though I was stubborn, I was jealous deep down that he had taken interest in her. All the attention goes to Aurora all the time. I still love her but I don’t like competing with her."

"Your attitude told us something else," Rachel replied, not fully believing her daughter. This all had to be a plot to help Aurora getaway.

"Because it felt stupid thinking I was competing with my sister. I didn’t want to appear jealous in front of everyone so I would go back to my room and try to get these thoughts out of my head. It’s not a good feeling. My relationship with Aurora hasn’t been too good these days and I have been trying to hold unto it. She was acting weird lately. I felt frustrated with her and got too defensive with everyone else around me-"

"Acting weird how?" Minnie interjected to know what Aurora might’ve done or found out. ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm

"She said something about dreams of a monster speaking to her and even made the joke that we were not related. She needed our help, that’s why I wanted to help her. I felt guilty for feeling jealous at a time like this when she needs us. And it’s coming to my attention that she is somehow important to us. I promise she was right here when I left," Regina stated hoping they would believe her. ’I wouldn’t be a good actress with this performance,’ she thought to herself.

Minnie seemed to partially believe her and Rachel looked convinced because she always wanted Regina to realize she was in competition with Aurora. It was about time Regina had opened her eyes and noticed what her mother had been saying.

"Mother?" Samuel groaned, waking up with pain at the front and back of his head. He felt dizzy when he tried to open his eyes.

"Are you alright-" ƒгeewёbnovel.com

"Where is Aurora?" Minnie interrupted Rachel asking the more important question. "Where is she?" She asked again when he didn’t answer.

"Aurora? I had her holding and..." he trailed off on the verge of passing out again. "Someone hit me. Regina," he paused again.

Regina stood nervous he might[’ve known it was her who had hit him. He wasn’t looking when she did it but what he said next would affect her future with this family. She didn’t miss the look Minnie had given her, suspicious of her story now.

"Regina went to get the two of you. Is she alright?" He finished his sentence.

"Yes, I’m fine Samuel. He needs to see a doctor, mother," Regina advised her concerned mother. Minnie was focused on Aurora but Samuel needed serious help. She felt a little guilty for hitting him so hard and it didn’t help that the man had kicked her brother.

"Go get one!" Rachel yelled dismissing Regina. Her number one concern was Samuel. It hurt her heart to see him like this. What if this became a serious injury and slowed down him becoming the heir to the businesses? This would destroy her plans of getting rid of Minnie. "Get one now Regina!"

"Okay," Regina replied, leaving to find a suitable doctor. She always believed her mother had put all her eggs in the wrong basket.
