Chapter 50: Harvest moon festival (4)

Aurora’s nerves grew the more she ran into the darkness where the townspeople had not finished putting up the lights. She had no idea what kind of creature Seth was and she did not want to find out by him capturing her. One thing for certain, he most likely knew one of her lives from before. No wonder her body felt a sense of danger every time he was around.

"For a person like me, a chase makes this all the better. Where are you going, Miss Hamilton?" Seth questioned appearing in front of her. "You’re not back to normal as yet. This makes the perfect opportunity to have you and then send your corpse back to that brute of a beast."

Aurora halted her steps before she could crash into Seth who had appeared out of thin air. "No."

"Or maybe I should take you back as a prize to my king. He might make me his right-hand man instead of trying to use his son Xavier. Come quietly with me and I will ensure you have a quick death. I always admired your beautiful hair," Seth smiled, reaching out his hand to grab a strand of her hair but then frowned and looked into the darkness beside them where gold eyes were watching. "The mutts are already here."

"Take your hands off of her before I gladly break it off," the beast growled, slowly emerging from the darkness. Before he got closer to Aurora and Seth, he returned to his human form. "Do it now while I am asking nicely."

Aurora took in the appearance of the man who had been speaking with her in her head. It was most definitely the beast as the voice was the same and she would never forget those golden eyes almost piercing her soul.

"I don’t think I’ll be doing that anytime soon Vincent," Seth showed his large nails insinuating he was going to fight over her. "Be a good dog and run away before I make the wolves one member short. How could you leave something so sweet all alone and without protection? Her blood has always been tempting us. Why should you get to have her?"

Vincent’s eyes flickered to Aurora who appeared afraid and confused. His visit to come to get her wasn’t supposed to be like this. He ordered a team to get rid of Seth but the man had been tricky enough to avoid their attacks. Luckily, he had come in time before the leech could do anything to her. "Because she picked me a long time ago. You’re really testing my patience Seth and you won’t like me when I’m angry."

"I don’t like you right now Vincent. I’ll be leaving with her and maybe your corpse too. Vampires would love to know the beast is dead. I want to see the look in your eyes when I drink away all of her blood."

"Aurora," Vincent called to her, ignoring the words of Seth. He’ll deal with the man afterward for touching and talking about her so inappropriately. ’Runaway from there,’ he told her telepathically.

Without second-guessing it, Aurora turned on her heel to run away from beside Seth. Out of the two men, she was trusting the werewolf wouldn’t hurt her as he said.

"No," Seth tried to grab her after she started to run. He had been waiting to hear what the beast wanted to tell the woman when she unexpectedly started to run. fɾeewebnoveℓ.co๓

Vincent used this distraction to attack Seth whilst he let his guard down. Large claws went straight for the vampire’s neck to grab the man. Their feud didn’t start because of Aurora. Vampires and werewolves always had the urge to kill each other on sight. It was a downside that what Vincent called leeches had taken an interest in her blood.

"You fucking mutt," Seth snared feeling the claws bruising his neck. They were much longer than his sharp nails. He should’ve known it was a distraction for him to be attacked. He let his guard down this once but never again. Whilst Vincent had gotten ahold of his neck and started to lift him up to deliver the final blow, Seth slashed the wolf in the face but frowned when Vincent remained unphased by the new wound.

"A little pain never hurt anyone," Vincent replied, ignoring the blood dripping from the wound near his left eye.

"That’s the point of pain you idiot," Seth said trying to grab Vincent’s face to rip his eye out this time. "You just sent her to a death trap. Did you honestly think I would come after her alone?"

"No, you’re too useless to do this alone. Let’s end this feud here." Vincent tightened the hold he had on Seth’s neck, still ignoring the vampire’s nails digging into his face. He tightened it until a loud snap was heard and Seth went limp. But it wasn’t enough to ensure the vampire was dead so he tore the man’s head off of his body and tossed it to one side. The townspeople could deal with this mess in the morning.

Vincent stepped over Seth’s body to follow after the direction Aurora had run to. He was upset that the clothes he wore for this reunion had been ruined but the more important thing was taking her home.

The harvest moon festival celebrated a full moon being present in the sky and for Vincent, it meant he was in his prime to shift into what humans called a beast but wolves called the alpha. His skin started to burn as the moonlight reached him in the darkness. He growled going down to the ground as his human appearance changed into a different creature.

He got a whiff of her scent and followed after it immediately before she could end up in the hands of another vampire. Vincent also wanted to run into Minnie tonight so that he could repay her for trapping someone who did not belong to her.
