Chapter 49: Harvest moon festival (3)

Aurora appeared in the darkness near the road to the town where carriages and people walking were heading towards the festival. She wasn’t sure if it was her who made that light or if someone else had been helping her but she was thankful for being out. She placed her bag on the ground and looked for her red cape to cover her hair. It won’t be too long before Duncan alerts Minnie she had escaped and they would start searching for her. She tucked away her white hair under the cape, picked up her bag, and continued walking in the darkness instead of going into the crowd.

The sparkling lights of the festival reflected in her eyes when she had finally reached the town. She had been looking forward to this day for a long time and never expected she would be running away on this day. Aurora wanted to look around at the stalls she heard so much about but she had no time for fun.

’Where will I go?’ She thought as she walked through the festival. There were so many nearby villages and towns she could take a carriage to but she wasn’t certain of which one to pick. ’If he shows up tonight, will I go with him?’ Asked herself thinking about the wolf.

Maybe she had been wrong and they weren’t going to meet tonight. She wanted to speak with the wolf before she left this town to know what he knew about her. The problem was her looking for a needle in a hay shack. She had no idea what he looked like.

’Mister wolf?’ She mentally asked herself hoping he would reply. Aurora did not want to have to hurt herself in the midst of the festival crowd but she sighed knowing the only way to speak with him was to hurt herself again. freewebnovёl.ƈom

Aurora started moving away from the crowd unaware someone was watching her. She moved to a quiet area where there were only one or two people passing by. She sat down on a bench placed there for others to rest and dug her nails into her hand as painfully as she could.

’Why are you-’

"Miss Hamilton? What a surprise it is to see you here."

Aurora felt chills over her body at the sound of Seth’s voice speaking to her. She had heard the wolf for a second but then Seth had interrupted it. She looked up at the man and she had no idea why he scared her so much. He hadn’t done anything wrong to her so far but her body was warning her to get away.

"Why are you here away from the festival and more importantly, your family? You have a large bag with you. Did you buy a lot of things already?" He questioned taking a seat beside her.

Aurora clenched her bag tighter, unsure what to do in this situation. She was thinking to play it cool and not let him catch on that she had come alone but she had a feeling he already knew that. "Yes. I’ve been having a lot of fun at the festival and bought a lot before they could be sold out. I wanted to see more stalls so I left my family and I was just taking a quick break before I went back to them. Excuse me," she stood up to leave but he grabbed her hand to stop her.

"I’ll come with you to your family. I wanted to talk with them about something."

"I have a few more stalls to go to before going back to them. It’ll take up too much of your time. Please go ahead without me and I will meet up with all of you," she replied, trying to pull her hand away but his grip was too strong.

"I don’t have anything else to do so I don’t mind walking with you and then going to meet your family. Besides, I know where they are and you don’t. In fact, I already spoke with them and Minnie told me you wouldn’t be coming today. So, did you sneak out or did your grandmother lie to me?"

Aurora started to panic now that he knew she wasn’t supposed to be her. What could she do at this moment when she did not want to bring attention to herself from those passing by? If she used her abilities here, she’ll truly be named a witch and be hunted to be burned. "I snuck out to buy some things and now I’m going to return home before I get in trouble. Can you please keep it a secret?"

Seth smiled at how she thought she could lie to him. "What a lovely sound that is. Can you hear it too?" He asked, closing his eyes to listen carefully.

"What?" Aurora replied, looking around for what he meant. She just wanted the man to let go of her hand so that she could run away. She no longer cared where she was going as long as she was far away from him.

"The sound of your heartbeat. Clearly, you are really nervous right now." Seth opened back his eyes to reveal that they were now red.

Aurora gasped seeing the change and confirmed that the man was not normal but she had no idea what he was. "Let go of me right now!"

"Why? I’ve been waiting so long to get a taste of your sweet blood. Imagine my surprise learning that you were always away from the protection of that beast. Tell me, how sweet do you taste-" He groaned when a branch suddenly smacked him in the face causing him to let go of her hand for a moment.

Aurora used this opportunity to run with her bag in her hand into the darkness beside the festival so that she might hide from him there.

Seth touched a small wound made from the branch hitting his face. It started to heal as he followed her into the darkness. He had waited and dreamt about her blood for too long to let her get away this easily.
