Chapter 281: Give it up (2)

"You know what she’s going to do to our grandmother and you willingly came here with her. You’ve truly turned your back on your own flesh and blood. How do you sleep at night?" Samuel looked up at where Regina stood.

"Like a baby," Regina smiled. "Have you forgotten already that you once turned your back on me, dear brother? I’m merely returning the favor. For a while now, you’ve been working with Minnie and father so you must be aware of the horrible things they’ve done. Minnie deserves to die."

"She’s our grandmother! She wasn’t a good person as we thought when we were younger but she’s our grandmother at the end of the day. She’s fine being locked up instead of getting killed. I don’t like what happened with Aurora but-"

"Really?" Regina disagreed with his words. "It’s hard to tell you disliked what happened to her. You were so eager to stop her from leaving. What on earth ever happened to you, Samuel? You used to be so caring and then you wait straight to caring about power."

"You should have asked this question a long time ago. Neither you nor Aurora paid attention to what I had to endure when Minnie and Father wanted to bring me into the secrets of our family. You two were always in your little bubble and thought everything with me was okay," said Samuel.

"I’m not a freaking mind reader, Samuel. If you walk around like everything’s fine, I’ll assume everything is fine. You could have opened your mouth and said something. Let’s take Aurora out of this, you didn’t care to give me a heads-up about what you found out. So don’t make me try to seem like the only one that fucked up."

"Regina!" Rachel gasped after hearing the indecent word come out of her daughter’s mouth.

"Oh please, mother. Now is not the time to be acting so prim and proper. I am frustrated and I am allowed to curse. You’re no better than Samuel. From the beginning, you knew Minnie’s sick twisted pans. Instead of protecting us better, your solution was to marry me off so that I hopefully escape Minnie’s plan. What a foolish idea when we live in the same town," Regina argued.

Her family was so messed up and stupid when it came to a lot of things. It was frustrating how she was the only one seeing why they deserved everything coming to them. Why did Minnie need to die and let everything that happened in this house disappear? Why was she the only one realizing this?

"What? Do you think it was easy to raise two children around Minnie? This family is used to sacrificing their children for power but I kept the two of you alive. Where is my thank you for that? Your father has always been a coward but you’ve hated me without knowing the full story. Even now you hate me while you love your father!" Rachel yelled, deeply frustrated with the way Regina treated her.

"That’s not true. I also hate my father, I just only had him to cling to after Aurora was gone. My father knew more than you and even stood by Minnie’s side in everything she did. My father is a coward," Regina agreed with her mother. "Strange days have come when I hate him more than I hate you, mother."

’What a mess,’ Vincent thought. He stood leaned up against a wall keeping track of Aurora while listening to the family drama. He thought his family had problems but the Hamiltons were out of this world. He had to give Regina credit for going up against her family.

Hearing footsteps approaching, Vincent looked at the door awaiting Nathaniel to state the reason behind him returning alone.

"W-We have to get out of here," Nathaniel panted and hunched over when he reached his bedroom. "She’s going to set it all on fire and take it away from us."

"What?!" Rachel exclaimed. Aurora’s problem should be with Minnie and once the old witch was dead Aurora should leave them alone. Why should she want to take everything from them?

"We’re going to free the souls trapped here," Regina informed her family, bringing all their attention to her. "It’s the right thing to do. Considering that you are all alive, Aurora is letting you go because of me. You can start over without all of this. Get back our true family name and let the real Hamiltons rest in peace-"

Rachel stormed over to Regina’s side and aggressively shook her body. "Have you lost your mind? How are we supposed to survive without this house and everything else? All the documents for our businesses, money and our expensive belongings are in this house. She cannot burn it to the ground! We have never been without the things we have now, even you."

"We’ll survive without those things," said Regina.

"You’re only saying that because you have Timothy to help you keep this lifestyle. Who is to say you won’t abandon us when we give up everything?" Samuel approached Regina and stood by his mother. "It wasn’t hard for you to pick Aurora over us."

"I did the right then by helping a person trapped here become free. I won’t abandon all of you after you do the right thing. While we have enjoyed this house, their souls have been here forced to watch us," Regina stared at something behind her mother.

"They watch us enjoy the luxury that was stolen from them. How we were happy day after day. They were robbed of what belonged to them and punished to watch the thieves enjoy their belongings for more than one hundred years. They’ve always been watching us. Even now they watch us argue with one another," Regina stared at the group of souls standing behind her mother and Samuel. fгee𝑤ebɳoveɭ.cøm

They suddenly appeared before her just like Esmeralda magically popped up one day.

"We should give back what belongs to them so that their souls are no longer trapped here. For once in your lives, do the right thing-"

Regina’s words were interrupted by a slap.

"You," Rachel’s hand trembled. "Are a weak fool. Everything present belongs to us, not those who have already passed. We are not giving it up. Samuel, do take as much as you can from your father’s office before it gets destroyed. Nathaniel, you know what to do."

"Ha. You are all greedy and you should burn with this house," Regina muttered.
