Chapter 282: Give it up (3)

Regina could forget everything that occurred between her and her family for all they had done in the past if they would have done the right thing now. They should leave this house where souls lingered for countless years wishing to be freed and have back what once belonged to them.

She would not allow them to continue living off of what did not belong to them while the souls of the original Hamiltons were forced to watch. None of her family in this room seemed remorseful of what happened long ago.

Minnie was terrible but she was not the only bad person in their home. In some way, everyone here had done something wrong but none of them wanted to be accountable for their actions nor did they see why their actions were wrong because they were blinded by money and power.

"Vincent, please leave us and look for Aurora. There is something important I have to do," she said and looked back at Vincent leaning up a wall patiently waiting to see what would happen next.

"We both know Aurora will not like it if she learned I left you all alone with these people. What is it you intend to do?" Vincent would aid her with whatever she wanted to do and then they would flee before the fire could reach where they stood now.

"I’m going to leave them here. Make sure they cannot escape."

With a heavy heart, Regina hurried to where Vincent stood. It wasn’t easy to come to the conclusion of hurting her family. Her own flesh and blood but they were not good people. As much as she loved them, she could admit their faults.

"Regina," Samuel stared at his sister in disbelief that she would allow them to die. Regina should understand that it was not a simple request for them to abandon everything they had for people who were dead. "You’ve clearly lost your mind if you would let us be killed all for the sake of dead people."

"I am giving the three of you one last chance to leave with me and start over. You should not want the souls of the true Hamiltons sticking onto you. I’ve been told before that souls who linger around in this world can be dangerous-"

"We do not have time to be wasting listening to this nonsense," Rachel interrupted Regina as time was being wasted while they could be gathering things. "Those people are long gone. What sense is it to let everything be destroyed when we can use it?"

"They are here. Their souls have always been here just like Esmeralda’s but I never saw them until now. Mother, we have to go and give them back what belongs to them or something bad will happen," said Regina.

"Samuel, do as I told you and get everything we need before it gets burned. Matter of fact, gather the servants to put out any fire," Rachel ignored Regina’s words. She did not care about what she could not see or who was dead. Minnie was dead and now it was her time to shine as the head of this family.

"Vincent, you need to run and get Aurora out. I promise I will be right behind you. I truly can see dead people and they’re here right now. Their appearance seems to be changing the more we stand here and I’m getting an eerie feeling. Those three witches had warned me about souls. I think those souls are going to go something-"

"Stop talking and run with me," Vincent grabbed her hand. She was the only one Aurora cared for therefore he was not going to let her die.

"No," Regina pushed his hand away. "If this eerie feeling is the fact they are going to attack, I have a feeling they will just go after the people who have been pretending to be them. I am a fake Hamilton. I don’t want to lead any evil souls to Aurora. I don’t know much but I have a feeling there’s no way you can fight with souls."

"Not unless you’re a Grimm reaper or anyone with the power to vanish them from this world," said Vincent.

Aurora might have power given to her by the Goddess but even Artemis herself could not get rid of the souls in her forest. She always ignored the souls and let them do as they pleased with the humans they encountered.

"I’m going to stay," Vincent decided not to leave. He promised Aurora he would watch over Regina therefore he could not leave her. "If you don’t want me to get hurt, then leave with me now. I will have no choice but to hoist you over my shoulder if you do not come willingly. Your family is not going to leave this house so save yourself and stop trying to change them."

He continued to say, " I heard you quite well when you said they deserve to burn with this house so let them. There’s no way for you to change their minds. Their greed will kill them but you don’t have to let them drag you down too. End ties with them right now and leave with me. I will take you to the people who care for you." fɾēewebnσveℓ.com

Regina looked back at her family running around to collect what they could and Samuel had left the room to inform the servants to put out the fire. Even with Minnie gone, she couldn’t trust they wouldn’t want to use Aurora or anyone else. That they would not carry out the plans Minnie had started. And more importantly, they were not going to allow the souls trapped here to rest.

"Let’s leave quickly. Whatever happens to my family, they had it coming. They’re changing even more. Please pick me and get us out of here," Regina quickly spoke as the souls changed from looking pitiful and innocent to angry.

As she requested, Vincent swooped Regina up from the floor and carried her in his arms out of the bedroom. As they exited the bedroom, they saw flames had already spread this way and heard the sound of a man laughing. Paying no mind to the laughter, Vincent ran away from the flames to get Regina out safely.

As they were leaving, they came across Samuel ordering servants to put out the fire.

"Sam!" Regina called to her brother with the old name she used when they were younger. When Samuel looked her way, she apologized, "I’m sorry."
