Chapter 262: Unexpected twist (2)
"Do not come near me," Minnie took a step back to get away from Nathaniel as he held the wood in his hands like he was going to do something to her.
Nathaniel always did as she told him which was why it came as a surprise to see him refusing her command. Minnie always knew he wanted to be a good father but her dreams came before everything else. Nathaniel wasn’t in the dark that she would one day want to use his children if they showed signs of being a witch.
Perhaps, Nathaniel had been secretly praying his children would be normal.
"What are you doing?" Rachel questioned as she believed her husband was joking and taking things too far. For many years she told Nathaniel they should get rid of Minnie and after all of her failed attempts, Rachel did not see this to be the moment he finally woke up.
Nathaniel Hamilton always listened to his mother in the end. He was hardly a man. If only were to harm Minnie with the piece of wood he picked up it would have to Rachel.
"I have been by your side all these years, carrying out whatever order you gave me to help achieve your dreams but you continue to treat me as a servant rather than your child. I have loved you but at the very same time, I have been terrified of you mother. I have been a coward in my children’s eyes and I will not allow you to drive fear into their lives as you did with mine."
"Get to the point. Now that Duncan is dead, you want to rise up against me because you think there would be no one to protect me? I would haunt you after my death and drag you to the underworld with me, Nathaniel. I will burn this house down to the ground before I allow this thing you call a wife to share what is mine with you," Minnie spat. "If anything happen to me, Gilbert will get a witch to put a spell on you."
Minnie was the one to reach the closest to the goal her family wanted to achieve. Nathaniel and his family were merely riding on her success. If any of them wanted to get rid of her and steal away what she created, she would make it crumble even in death.
"You wicked old woman," Rachel hissed as she was angered by the news. She did not stay with Nathaniel and tolerated Minnie this long just to end up with nothing. "How could you do this to your son and grandchildren? Don’t you have a heart?"
"A heart?" Minnie chuckled. Why was it taking so long for Rachel to realize this was a family that did not care about each other? Regaining their witch side and allowing witches to reclaim this kingdom was more important than anything else in the world. "Nathaniel should be grateful I allowed him to still be alive. I could have sacrificed him for the greater good of my plans."
"Grateful? This family keeps at least one child alive so they could mate with others and extend the bloodline. That is the only reason why I am alive and why you are alive, mother. Am I supposed to be grateful for the trauma I have endured under your watch? Mother, I am giving you one chance to forget these foolish dreams and let us try to be normal," Nathaniel said. freёwebnovel.com
"No!" Rachel disagreed with her husband. She wanted him to take the wood he had in his hand and hit Minnie over the head with it like he wanted to do. "For Regina and Samuel, we should end everything with your mother here. Get rid of her."
Nathaniel should be smart enough to know if they left Minnie alive, she would come after them. He already had the wood in his hand to help home do it. Rachel was annoyed he was waiting so long to finish things after the speech he gave.
"Give it to me," Rachel tried to take the wood from his hands to get rid of Minnie herself. Nothing would be more satisfying than to crack open the head of the woman who tortured her for years.
Minnie was alone with no one to aid her. Why should they miss this golden opportunity to get rid of her?
"Look at the two of you, fighting over who gets to kill me," Minnie chuckled as the sight amused her. She was not scared for her life as the person to die in this room in the next couple of minutes would not be her. "I am going to let the two of you decide which one of you gets to live and which should die. Go on."
"What are you-" Rachel’s words were interrupted by yelling coming from somewhere in the house. "Those are the guards. Hurry up, Nathaniel. Kill her or let me do it. We can find a way to bring the servants to our side when she is dead. Do it now!"
Nathaniel sighed, letting go of the love he had for his mother, and then gripped the wood tighter to use against Minnie. "I’m sorry mother," he apologized once again before he swung it against her head.
Nathaniel loved Regina more than he feared his mother. It was a shame he wasted so many years sitting quietly while his mother ruled the house and his family. He allowed his children to be toyed with by Minnie and now Regina was nowhere to be found. It was now or never to get rid of the woman causing them so much misery.
Minnie’s body stumbled as the piece of wood connected with her head. She did not think Nathaniel had it in him to attack her but at some point, he had to reach his breaking point. Minnie found her son to be a coward to wait this long. "Y-You’ll pay for this..." her words slurred as her vision became blurry.
"We’ll both pay for it in the underworld," Nathaniel said before he swung again, connecting the piece of wood to her head.
