Chapter 246: Witch (1)

"Lock her inside of her bedroom. Place guards below her window and at her door. Regina is not allowed to have visitors without my permission. Her food will be taken to her bedroom by you," Minnie gave orders to Duncan.

The trust Regina mentioned between them was nonexistent. Minnie stopped trusting Regina from the moment she allowed Aurora to leave and hit her own brother over the head. Still, she was going to play nice while she had Gilbert get the witches to wipe Regina’s memories and to see if they recognized her as a witch.

Minnie needed Regina to reach her full potential if she was showing signs of being a witch. She would give Regina the one thing she wanted these days, which was to inherit the house.

With Regina’s old memories gone and placed as the new owner of the home, Minnie would be able to leave as she planned. Her end goal was to have eternal youth and to live as a witch. She would move to another town and completely take over it just as her family had started to do here.

’I am almost there, grandfather,’ Minnie thought to herself. She was going to complete what her ancestors started.

She would be the one to place witches in high positions all over the kingdom and become the leader of witches. With eternal youth, she would reign for a long time. Being the ringleader in high society was child’s play compared to her future.

Meanwhile, Regina was nervous about her escape plan. It was one thing to mentally plan escaping once she was placed in her room but it was another to have to physically do it with guards at every escape route.

’Think positively. It is better than being thrown into a cell,’ she kept herself motivated.

When there is a will there’s a way and Regina was sure she could think of a way to escape once she was in the safety of her bedroom.

"I will come to you tomorrow to talk about my mother. Should you lie about anything even for a second, I will consider sending you to Gilbert," Minnie was considering the possibility that Regina by chance found something which gave this information and she had not spoken to the dead. freewёbnoνel.com

Though a lot of secrets died with their relatives, many clues were left behind in the home. Clues that Minnie could not find herself but someone as sneaky as Regina might.

"Regina, you will have till morning to tell me everything you know. Will you tell me the truth about the soul or will you hide whatever you have found in this house? Make no mistake, I will truly throw you into a cell tomorrow if I do not like what you have to say."

"I know," Regina didn’t forget Minnie’s attempt to throw her into a cell two seconds ago.

This was no longer a game where Minnie would just give her a slap on the wrist and let her do as she pleased. One mistake was enough to have Regina be stripped of her last name and become a prisoner. Then, not even her father would be able to help her.

Ducan released Regina’s hand so that she could go back into her bedroom but before she could take one step, Minnie stopped her.

"Wait, place her in another room," Minnie suddenly changed her mind.

Regina drugged her nails in her palm as she tried her hardest not to let her emotions show on her face. The best way for her to escape would be from her room. More importantly, the witch book was still on the inside. This time she might have dug herself a hole she could not get out of.

Regina wanted to slap herself for forgetting who she was dealing with. Minnie was not an easy person to fool or to gain her trust so easily.

A grin slowly crept its way upon Minnie’s lips as she believed she had trapped Regina.

"You shall reside in the room next door. Run along my sweet grandchild."

Regina felt the need to laugh at Minnie referring to her as a grandchild. A moment ago she was a stranger. If Regina did not escape tonight, she could be a stranger once again. Without any objections, Regina walked to the room next door.

"Search her room while she is locked up. I don’t care if you must tear it down to the ground. Find whatever she could be hiding and bring it to me immediately. Watch her door while I inform the guards. Duncan," Minnie stopped him before he could do as he was told. "If you allow her to escape just as you did with Aurora, kill yourself."

Minnie didn’t need someone who could not fulfill their duties and Duncan knew of this. She did not care about any past feelings or affairs they shared with each other.

"I understand," Duncan replied.

Regina didn’t understand how Duncan could still be so loyal when Minnie had just told him to kill himself should he fail this. She would hate to break it to Duncan that tonight, he would die.

"I shall have her," Gilbert had a feeling Minnie would end up not liking what Regina would have to say and then throw her into a cell. With Regina’s last name gone, he would be able to take her. Not as a wife but as a mistress. "I will double the men looking for Aurora if you give Regina to me."

"Careful with your words Gilbert, that is my granddaughter you are speaking about. Until I deem her a stranger and throw her away you should watch yourself. And if you are not doing a proper job looking for Aurora, I shall kill you. Why is it so hard for your men to infiltrate where the wolves live?" Minnie asked. ƒгeewebnovёl.com

"Those creatures have many lookouts to see who is coming. I have told you many times we need to lure out the girl with something she cares about and the alpha will follow her. We can kill him with the wolf’s bane so no one would be trying to take her once we have her."

"We have the perfect bait," Minnie said as she watched Regina enter her new room.

"What will you do now?" Esmeralda asked when Regina was alone. "Keep your voice down as that man is waiting on the outside."

"Escaping," Regina spoke as softly as she could.

The first thing she did was start to inspect the bedroom for any way she could escape. She ran to the window to look at the drop from the window to the ground.

"Shit. How can Minnie be that fast?" She asked as she spotted a handful of guards running in her direction. "The devil certainly works hard."

Regina was stuck between a rock and a hard place with the guards outside and Duncan standing outside the door. The only way for her to escape now was with Esmeralda’s help. "You have to help me or I will be screwed come morning. They will find out I can perform spells if they bring a witch," she continued to speak softly, mindful of Duncan’s presence.

"I do not know how to help you. I am only a ghost," Esmeralda took a step back. There was nothing she could do to help Regina.

"You told me you were more witch than human. Surely you must know of a spell to get me out of here. You owe it to Aurora to try. If Minnie locks me up or does anything weird to me tomorrow, your moment to stop her and avenge Aurora is out the window. Start thinking of a way to escape quickly."

Though Regina had religiously read the witch book and learned many spells, her mind was in a panic causing her to be unable to remember anything. It was hard for her to calm down as she worried about what would happen tomorrow.

Regina did not trust Minnie would not lock her up even after Regina would communicate with Esmeralda for Minnie. The room she was in was her first cell and it would only get worse from here.

"I-I cannot think of anything as my memories are not that good. I am sorry," Esmeralda disappeared into thin air.

Regina could not believe at a time like this, Esmeralda had abandoned her. She was in this predicament due to Esmeralda waking her up in the first place. "I have to calm down and think. No one will help you but yourself."

Regina took deep breaths, trying to clear her mind to think about spells. "That’s it. I’m calm. I’m Regina Hamilton and I can get out of anything. Come on, give me a spell."

She closed her eyes scanning through the lists of spells she knew. Regina sat still for a long time until she found a spell.

"Got it," Regina’s eyes fluttered open. It was a spell she never tried before but desperate times called for desperate measures.

Regina chanted the words as best as she could and thought of the place she wanted to teleport to. Unbeknownst to Regina as she was focusing on the spell, her nails had started to turn black.
