Chapter 245: Stranger (2)
"Gilbert, search the room for the soul and drag it back to the mountain," Minnie ordered the man who was busy watching Regina be grabbed by Duncan.
"Just let it roam around, Minnie," Gilbert replied once Minnie’s words settled in his mind. How was he supposed to take the soul to the mountain? He was not a good witch and he had nothing to lure out the soul with. "Have you forgotten we are merely humans?"
"We are witches!" Minnie reminded him. Her ancestors were great creatures with unimaginable power. She didn’t like to think she was just a human. All she needed was the heart of a witch to take and make it her own. "You can continue living like a human if you want to."
Gilbert didn’t see the need for Minnie to be so dramatic. He was only saying he could not lead the soul to the mountain. "This would not be the first soul you have loitering around your home. What about the one around you?"
Regina resisted fighting with Duncan to listen to Gilbert. Was Esmeralda hovering around Minnie or was it someone else?
"Watch your tongue," Minne didn’t like how unaware Gilbert was of who was around them. "Why haven’t you taken her away yet, Duncan?"
Regina knew the only way to remain here was to prove herself useful. "Are you really serious about souls existing? Then, the voice I keep hearing must be one. I thought all of you were trying to make me think I was crazy."
"What voice?" Minnie was suspicious of Regina.
"Everywhere I went in the house it felt like someone was right behind me whispering into my ear. Then tonight, I was woken up out of my sleep by someone speaking to me and I thought it was Samuel. As I am trying to leave to tell my father, here you three are."
Regina wanted to pat herself on the back for coming up with this story so quickly. It was ridiculous but still believable. Just because they knew a soul was here did not mean she had to confirm she saw something.
"What did the voice say?" Minnie was the one to ask the question. She was curious to know why a soul would be sticking onto Regina. What big secret did her granddaughter have?
"It only called my name and said to notice them. I cannot believe this is a real thing or the three of you are really overdoing it to try and scare me. This is not funny and you should take your hands off of me before I make you useless to Minnie," Regina placed her foot in position to make Duncan’s possibility of having a child even lower.
"We did all of this for nothing," Gilbert muttered. The trip to Regina’s bedroom had not been one to enjoy. The only saving grace was him being able to see her in her night dress as the coat she wore wasn’t properly placed.
"She is still to be thrown into a cell. I am not going to fall for your tricks. You remind me of myself, Regina. That is why I must be wary of you." Minnie was always drawn to Regina more than Samuel because she saw herself in Regina. She should have known from the beginning not to trust Regina.
"I am your blood. Are you really going to lock me away in a cell? Have you not done enough bad things already, grandmother?" Regina was ticked off by Minnie still having Duncan lock her up. Unfortunately, she had not proven herself to be useful enough for Minnie to not lock her up.
"Timothy will come looking for me. I have already told him not to believe any lies you might tell him. If I am not seen when he comes to visit, you are all screwed."
"Then we shall kill him," Gilbert proposed. He would personally do it to get back at Timothy for trying to steal Regina away.
"You are just like your grandfather, Minnie. That is why your mother hates you. Are you going to throw me into a cell as your grandfather did to your twin and what you did to your other child? Esmeralda frowns each time she is near to you," Regina revealed the soul. She had no choice but to do this now.
The entire family was aware of Minni’s love for her mother. If there was anything Minnie wanted more than power it was the chance to be with her mother.
"You spoke to my mother," Minnie was confused as to how Regina was able to do this. She didn’t doubt for a second Regina was telling the truth. There was no way Regina could know about the cell unless she talked to an old relative who once lived here but they were all dead.
Nathaniel was the only other person aware of the cell but he was so terrified of being placed in it that he would never speak of it.
"What has my mother been telling you?"
"Why on earth would I tell a stranger that information?" Regina wasn’t going to brush off Minnie referring to her as a stranger. If that was what Minnie wanted then so be it. They were strangers from this moment on.
Now that they broke family ties, Regina would have no regrets when she would kill Minnie. The plan to let Esmeralda be the one to end Minnie was now quickly out of the window. It would not be satisfying enough if someone else were to kill Minnie.
"Why did you reveal this to me? Are you aware of what you have just done? I now know you are becoming in tune with what little witch blood you have in you. That is how you are able to see the dead," Minnie was starting to reconsider throwing Regina into the cell.
She was much more useful if she had this ability. If Regina’s memories were removed, she would once again be the perfect granddaughter and the puppet.
"Because I am now useful to you again. I have Timothy protecting me and I can listen to secrets only your mother knows about our family. We might not trust each other but we can still help one another. Make me the heir instead of Samuel and I shall tell you everything your mother says," Regina lied. ƒгeewёbnovel.com
She was only doing this for Minnie to leave her be then she would escape to Timothy’s home for protection. Regina could only escape if she remained in her room and not in a cell.
