Chapter 242: Accepted (1)

"Now that Jane is gone, are you going to scold me?"

"No, because I am not upset with you, Aurora. I just don’t like seeing you in pain," Vincent sat down beside Aurora to wait out the pain she was going through. "You granted Jane’s wish to have a child. I would be an asshole to be mad at you for doing it."

"Now that the wish is gone, Minnie cannot have it. Just in case anything goes wrong, I am glad Jane would be the one to have it. The pain is starting to go away. If only I could bring someone back from the dead," Aurora said, referring to his parents.

If she could do it, she would have granted his wish to see his parents again.

"It would cost a lot but I could always go down to the underworld to see them. I would have to make a deal with the devil," said Vincent as he remembered what others said from their experience going down to the underworld.

"Never make a deal with that man. There’s always a downside to it. He was close with Artemis so maybe I can get you down there to see your parents without any deals being done but I cannot guarantee they will still be down there. Souls have to move on after a while but I would love to meet my in-laws."

"If that’s the case, I shall leave them be and let them move without any disturbance. My parents would have loved you. You granted my mother’s wish for me to find someone to love. You proved that I do have a heart," Vincent joked as it was commonly said he did not have one.

"Everyone is too hard on you, Vincent. Even me. We are only on the outside looking in but being the alpha is not an easy job. You have to make harsh decisions to keep everyone here safe then we tell you about not having a heart. Even though it’s a joke and you brush it off it must still hurt," Aurora softly said.

"You’re so warm and fluffy. I love cuddling with you at night," she added.

Vincent touched Aurora’s forehead to make sure she was alright. She started off giving him a compliment but now she was talking about him being fluffy. "I despise the word fluffy, Aurora. Vincent Lawerence is terrifying."

"In my eyes, you are never terrifying Vincent. Not even when we used to hate each other. I wish we are present when Jane tells Derek the good news. I want to see his crying face," Aurora chuckled as she imagined the sight of it.

"You should be more curious about the face I’ll make when you tell me about our child or children. I can hardly wait for the announcement." Vincent was patiently waiting to expand their family. "Two, three, or maybe six."

Aurora couldn’t help glaring at Vincent for even suggesting she would have six children for him. "Six is easy for you to say when you aren’t the one carrying them. How could you just jump from two and three to six?"

"I multiplied two by three," Vincent grinned. The more children he had with Aurora the better. "If needed, we can get a bigger house."

"Says the man who hates children-"

"I dislike some children who are not our own Aurora. How many times must I say it?" Vincent flicked Aurora’s nose. "Are you ready to rejoin the group or do you wish for it to just be the two of us? I am fine with either option."

"You would rather it be just the two of us, Vincent. Due to that, I don’t mind the two of us just sitting here for a while. Each time we have a moment of peace something arises. I am on board for you banning the others from coming to your home," Aurora loved the company but the continuous interruptions were starting to get irritating.

"That can be arranged from tonight," it was not difficult for Vincent to order his men to not let his own brother casually enter his home anymore.

"I sense your men stepping on the weeds," Aurora said as she felt the ground. "Shouldn’t they have a day off too? It must be tiring to always be in the shadows waiting to jump out to protect you from danger."

"It is their own wish to stay in the shadows and watch over me. Many of them owe me their lives so this is their way of repaying me. They are not necessarily protecting me these days. My uncle still had quite a few supporters so it is not as safe as it seems."

"My men have accepted you as my future wife and now they are watching over you. They shall get rid of any unwanted pest around you," Vincent picked a piece of grass from Aurora’s hair and flicked it away. "Think of them as your men in the future." freёwebnovel.com

Normally, Aurora would object to having others protecting her as she was more than capable outside of what happened with the Hamiltons but she liked the idea of having a group of skilled people under her command. "Okay," she accepted Vincent’s men as her own.

Now she just had to find a way to at least be cordial with the rest of their community. Ignoring what people thought of her was fine until she thought about her future with Vincent.

Aurora would become their luna and have to share some of Vincent’s responsibilities. She could not do this if the werewolves here did not at least respect her. "I have to make them accept me one way or the other. What would be the point in you taking me as your wife if I cannot help share your load?"

"I am not marrying you just so you could end up working alongside me. I am marrying you because I love you. You will build genuine relationships with the people here in time but for now, observe," Vincent used her chin to direct her eyes to the crowd.

"Observe the people here in order to know how to approach them. See what they like or do not like. What is their personality like with others? The second most important thing you need to do is not act like a werewolf. You are not one and never will be one. Do not think that is the way you are meant to fit in."

"What?" Aurora was confused by his statement. "Outside of shifting into a werewolf, shouldn’t I follow your traditions and rules? Act a certain way as a leader?"

"You must follow our rules but not all of our traditions as they concern things you can’t do. Just be what you are instead of trying to act like a werewolf. I’ve read stories from past alphas when we used to live with humans. Humans did not act like humans and tried to be a werewolf. They stressed themselves trying to do what werewolves could when it was obvious it would never happen."

"Vincent, I would never for a moment think I could howl at the moon, grow claws, or lift up a carriage. I know who and what I am. I would never lose myself trying to be someone else. I think," Aurora suddenly wasn’t sure of herself.

If someone said she needed to act like a werewolf to be around Vincent, would she have done it? Probably.

"I understand what you are saying," Aurora changed her answer. Eventually, she would’ve tried everything in the book to be viewed as an equal for Vincent by the community and respected as their luna. "Why did I have to pick someone with big responsibilities? Life will never be simple."

After Minnie is dealt with there would be others here in this very community looking to harm either Vincent, her, or their children in the future should they have any.

"At least life would never be boring," Vincent tried to make a joke out of it. He could do nothing about the number of people who wish to kill him. He didn’t share the same view about many things with others therefore they will always believed a new alpha is needed.

"One moment people like you then they seek to kill you. You can never predict who the next person to want to kill you will be. Look at Mari, we trusted her but she had such a big secret. Things like that make me have trust issues," Aurora said.

"I was not paying attention to Mari well enough to realize how much of a hole her family was in. It was my mistake to bring her around you. I’m sorry," Vincent apologized. It’s a lesson learned to pay more attention to the people around us. When I passed her cell, she was apologetic towards you."

"As I said before, I wasn’t the one she tried to kill, therefore she did not need to apologize to me. I like Mari, she has always been helpful but anyone who tries to hurt someone I love is my enemy. Had she not poured the poison into your mouth and alerted you or Derek of your uncle’s plans, I would have easily forgiven her."

Right now, Aurora could not find it in her heart to speak with Mari.
