Chapter 219: Traitor (5)
"Do not try to play with me, Cecilia. I am not in the mood to play games today. I will ask again, why are you trying to leave my uncle? Word of what I know has not spread around yet so enlighten me on what you know," said Vincent.
Cecilia wasn’t sure if he was talking about the poison or something else. She didn’t want to respond to the wrong thing and then find herself in more profound problems. "I do not know what you mean Vincent."
"Please tell me instead of going around in circles. One moment you are dying and the next you are healthier than ever. You should be explaining that to me," she switched the topic to him.
Cecilia desperately wanted to know what happened for Vincent to be still alive. Did someone magically find a cure for the poison?
"Trust me, that will be explained to everyone else. You on the other hand should be telling me all you know of my uncle’s crimes and maybe I will be kind with your punishment. What do you think?"
"Whatever Graham did, I had no parts in it. It is him you should be seeking out. Not me." Cecilia knew she was safe as she had never been the one to arrange anything Graham had planned.
Graham did everything and she had no problem throwing that out there to save herself. Graham would do it to her in a heartbeat.
"I know where your husband is and I’m afraid those vampires he’s been working with won’t be letting him go so easily. You might not have participated in anything he did but you knew about it. That’s enough for me to punish you," Vincent took one step forward causing Cecilia to take one step back.
"He threatened me-"
"I thought you knew nothing of vampires," he recalled her earlier reaction to him mentioning vampires. "The more you lie to me the more annoyed I will become and the outcome won’t be good for you. Are you going to tell me the truth?"
"What on earth was I supposed to tell anyone when he offered me up as collateral to those creatures? I had no choice but to remain quiet about what he did."
"A day ago I might’ve taken pity on you but I have seen for myself how much of a greedy person you are. I heard the excitement in your voice when you thought you were going to become the wife of the alpha Cecilia. Witches are quite handy when it comes to spying," said Vincent.
"I-I don’t know what you mean," Cecilia didn’t recall remembering speaking of such a thing and even if she did, it would have to be in the comfort of her home so how on earth would a witch be able to let Vincent hear what she said. "I am innocent in all of this." freēwēbnovel.com
"Stop lying to me," Vincent took another step forward. Many like to say he wasn’t a nice person but he gave her the opportunity to be honest in order to receive a less harsh punishment.
"I am not lying to you. I just said he used me as collateral-"
"You were well aware that he intended to poison me, you knew he was working with vampires, knew of the kidnapping incident where Cherry was harmed, and I am almost certain you are well aware that he was behind my parent’s death, Cecilia. No matter what lie you come up with I will punish you," Vincent took two last steps to stand in front of her.
"I..." Cecilia wanted to go against him again but then realized that he was certainly going to punish her one way or the other. Still, if Graham was taken by the vampires as Vincent claimed there was no way for Vincent to confirm she did know about anything even with the witch spell.
"What do you know about the things my uncle did?" Vincent asked her one last time.
"I have nothing to say to you until you can prove I was involved in anything. I will kindly ask that you leave my home," Cecilia pointed to the door. She needed time to think of how she would get herself out of this situation.
Done with being kind, Vincent in a swift movement grabbed hold of Cecilia’s hair and once he had a good enough grip, he started to pull her towards the door.
"Vincent!" She kicked and screamed, falling to the ground when he kept pulling her. "I am not just anyone for you to be treating me like this. I am your uncle’s wife!"
Vincent didn’t respond to her request and kept pulling her toward the door. "I remember you telling his first wife you wouldn’t leave this house willingly. Someone would have to drag you away. I am glad she is no longer married to my uncle and you are. I wouldn’t want her in this mess."
Cecilia remembered those words clearly. She said this the day Graham had finally kicked out his wife and only child while she moved in. She had been triumphant in becoming his woman that day.
"Ugh," Cecilia groaned when Vincent threw her out the door. She tumbled down the first few steps before catching herself.
"Don’t be so dramatic. You are a werewolf. This much should not be painful to you," Vincent said whilst looking down at Cecilia. "I would hate to know the people here are becoming weak."
"You cannot throw me out of my home!" Cecilia yelled deeply angered by being thrown out. He had no idea how many people would talk about this and how her reputation would be hard to fix.
"Your home? You and my uncle are traitors. This house will be handed over to his daughter but since she is so young her mother will decide what to do with it. No one is to enter this house as it will be searched-"
"This is my house! You cannot throw me out of my house and hand it over to anyone. This was never meant to go to his daughter. That woman said she wanted nothing from him." Cecilia stayed with Graham too long for everything she acquired to be taken from her so easily.
"I am the one who says it will be given to his daughter and the things in this house will no longer belong to you. Are you not aware that you will soon be imprisoned? There will be no use for them where you are going," Vincent closed the door behind him.
"No!" Cecilia slapped her hand down against the ground. "I told you I had nothing to do with anyone of this. Do you have any idea how many people have wanted you to be dead but you have done nothing to them? If you knew of the things Graham did, why didn’t you punish him long ago? Why are you coming after me only?"
"Who says it is only you that I am coming after. Right now, all those people who worked with my uncle are being imprisoned. I wanted to come to you personally to see you break down and I am enjoying every moment of it. Instead of fighting this, you should confess what you know before the others point fingers at you."
"You!" Cecilia couldn’t believe the excitement of becoming the most powerful woman in the community was quickly replaced by fear. She was so close to having all that she ever dreamed of but Vincent was one step ahead of him.
Graham was the only one able to confirm the things she knew about but if the others were going to say it was her, she was screwed. Out of everyone involved, she was the most innocent person but she was on her own.
"I will confess what I know," she gave up.
"This could have been so much easier had you said this from the start. You will be taken to prison and then later get to speak your truth. After what I hear you will be given your punishment. Take her," Vincent ordered the guards who had shown up to get her.
A crowd formed around Graham’s home confused as to what was going on. From Vincent still being alive to Cecilia being thrown out of her home, they were more confused than ever.
Vincent watched Cecilia keep her head down to avoid the stares of the people who she once called her friends but now they were looking down on her now that she would be imprisoned. None of them asked her if she was alright and only wanted to know what she did.
"It’s almost over," Vincent sighed. Soon, everyone working with Graham would be exposed and dealt with. Even if it would be for a brief moment he would get to enjoy the peace before he gained more enemies.
With Graham gone, he started to contemplate making Victor become the leader while he got to spend his days with Aurora. This position was something he never wanted but only took to spite his uncle.
