Chapter 190: Awkward (3)
"Timothy," Rachel said, stunned when she saw the young man entering their home. Regina informed them he would be picking her up but it looked like he would also be here for breakfast. "Where on earth are my manners? Good morning," she held out her hand for him to shake.
"Good morning. Sorry to intrude but Regina invited me for breakfast before I take her to her work."
"No, not at all," Rachel glanced at her daughter who carried a small smile on her face. "We’d be happy to have you here for breakfast. It’s been so long since we had a sit down with you. You travel so much."
"I traveled around to learn many business practices and gain partners on the road. I won’t be traveling as much these days as according to my mother I have worked enough and it’s time for me to settle. I wouldn’t want to make Regina lonely because I am traveling but you can always tag along," he looked to his side at Regina with a loving gaze.
’Why the hell would I be lonely without you?’ She mentally disagreed.
"That’s a talk for if the two of you get engaged. Right now, the two of you are just courting one another. Be mindful of her reputation Timothy. It’s easy to break but hard to mend. The others should be at the table already. Come when you are ready," Rachel gave Timothy a smile and a look to acknowledge Regina.
Any other mother would be happy to see Timothy courting their daughter but she disliked the fact Regina caught such a big suitor without her. After all the lessons she tried giving Regina, her daughter did fine on her own.
It wasn’t a good feeling to be proved wrong after she thought Regina would be hopeless. One good thing would be Regina having to leave soon if she and Timothy are serious enough to get married by the end of the season. Her revelation of letting Aurora go left not too many family members in her corner.
When her mother left, Regina pinched Timothy on his arm for his nonsense earlier. "Can’t you think of anything better to say other than I would be lonely without you?" She whispered.
"No," he whispered back. "I have a good eye to be able to see into the future. You will be lonely when I am not around."
"Your confidence in yourself amazes me. Don’t say anything like that around my father or he might leap across the table to strangle you. I’m serious," she added.
"Noted. I see that your family has decorated the house with very expensive items," he said looking around as they headed to the table with the other family members.
"Why do you say that like you are poor and dislike we changed our furniture?" She chuckled, finding that to be funny since if you added up the wealth his family had, he blew them out of the water. The things in their home might not be all that expensive to him.
"You have some interesting pieces, that is all," he replied.
"Minnie is the one handling what is placed in here but if I had it my own way, it would look so much better. Not tacky with many things just because they have a price tag. It’s silly to think of this anyway since this house would go to Samuel," she frowned looking off to the side.
"You want this house?"
Regina hid her smile from Timothy since she was playing around to see what his so-called crush would make him do for her. He had all the manpower, money, and influence to help her get what she wanted. "It is the house I grew up in but it’s going to be given to Samuel. That is the norm in society."
"Hmm," Timothy hummed thinking about something. "You can never predict the future. I am happy to see you are trying to manipulate me, Regina. Remember that you and I grew up around each other. I know all of your tricks."
"Not quite," she smirked since discovering she was a witch meant she was about to have a lot more tricks up her sleeve. "Let’s get this over with," she took a deep breath as they entered the dining room.
Minnie, Rachel, and her father were all seated while Samuel was about to sit down.
"Timothy! Nice seeing you," Samuel stood back up before his rear end could touch the cushion of the chair.
"Good morning everyone," Timothy greeted everyone in the room.
"Out the way kiss ass, he’s sitting with me," Regina pushed her brother to go to her seat. He should at least have some decency and not look so desperate in front of Timothy.
"Language," Nathaniel said as he read the paper. Every once in a while his eyes looked up to see what Timothy was doing with his daughter. Although they had been preparing Regina for the day she would have to get married, he didn’t like seeing her entertaining someone. She was still his little girl in his eyes.
"Stop glaring at him," Rachel tapped her husband’s foot.
"I am not glaring, I am looking at them. We should separate them. They are not married and should not be sitting so closely," he muttered watching Timothy whisper something in Regina’s ear. He wanted to yell out there were no secrets at the table but stopped himself.
"Good morning Minnie," Timothy greeted the woman at the table who was awfully quiet. He was never a fan of Minnie in his younger days and even now, he found her to be odd.
"Good morning," Minnie replied before sipping her tea.
"So Timothy, I heard your father just-"
"Can we not discuss anything relating to work at breakfast? And it’s rude that be the first thing you ask him about Samuel. How about asking how he is today?" Regina rolled her eyes.
"I was just making small talk Regina. There is no harm in that. Right Timothy?" To Samuel, Regina could beat out how much time he spent with Timothy. He considered the two of them to be best friends.
Meanwhile, Timothy found Samuel to be annoying since he would only come around when he wanted information that would benefit him. "Actually, I don’t normally talk about my father’s work affairs. You know me, Samuel."
"Good, some things are meant to be private. I always say if anyone wants to hear about my accomplishments come straight to me. Your father is the same and has brought you up to never speak of anything he does. I like that," Nathaniel complimented Timothy.
Samuel was a little wounded that his father complimented such a small thing. What harm was there in asking Timothy about the new land his father just obtained unless it was done illegally? "I apologize if I made you uncomfortable Timothy. I forgot how you are. We need to have a drink and catch up on one of these days."
"Just yesterday the two of you were so much shorter, causing trouble wherever you went. Now you’re all grown up with businesses to run. If only life could slow down," Rachel placed a hand on her chest reminiscing on the old times when Samuel was a little boy. "Soon the two of you will be married." ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com
"Samuel, I didn’t know you found a woman to propose to," Regina looked to her brother.
Samuel awkwardly smiled since that wasn’t the case. "I haven’t but I will before the season is over. We might be able to have a double wedding if things work out between you and Timothy. Wouldn’t that be wonderful?" He asked his parents.
"I don’t plan to share my wedding day with anyone, especially my brother. I wouldn’t want your bride to feel jealous of my beauty. Now that we got the small talk out of the way, can we eat?" Regina was hungry and bored of their conversation already.
Timothy used a cup to hide his smile from the Hamiltons. It was exciting to see she kept that fire even with her family. Also, he was curious to know what her family did to piss her off this much. For as long as he knew Regina, he knew she wouldn’t go after you unless you kept poking at her. In the past, she and Minnie used to be close as they would always be chatting and teaming up against Rachel but now the two of them weren’t looking at each other.
Rachel wished Timothy would disappear for a moment so she could scold Regina for the way she was talking. What on earth was it with Regina and her attitude that Timothy liked? Did her daughter really have this man falling for her or had Regina found a way to blackmail him?
"We should hurry along with breakfast," Rachel told Duncan but he didn’t move until Minnie told him to. ’Insufferable bastard,’ she cursed him.
Rachel had arranged to meet with someone today who might have the solution to all of her problems. Shortly, she would be sitting where Minnie was now. A little poison was all she needed to get rid of her. Duncan could join her in hell too.
