Chapter 182: No one else (4)
"Marry me," Vincent suddenly proposed after knowing the Hamiltons were witches. He knew there was something odd about the family but never thought they would be witches all along. It solved the mystery of why they were taking children off the street. Children were a prime target for witch rituals.
Aurora was deeply confused by his sudden proposal. She wasn’t expecting this after letting Vincent know the Hamiltons were witches. What about that made him want to propose to her? "I don’t like saying this to creatures like us but have you gotten too old? Is there something wrong with your hearing?"
"There is nothing wrong with my hearing, Aurora. Now that I know that they are witches, I see how much riskier revenge on them will be. We both have our own wars to fight and there is a chance any of us can get hurt. Before our lives become crazy, I wish for you to marry me."
"Our lives are already crazy. Hello, I was trapped by witches to believe I was a child from a mistress while you turn into a beast every once in a while. Yes, I would love to marry you, Vincent but when this is all over. I don’t like the feeling that we are preparing for our final days. I would love to marry you when we have gotten rid of the dangers around us and we can try to be at peace."
Propping up onto her side next to Vincent, she played with his hair as she imagined their future. A time when she would not be consumed with so much hatred for the Hamiltons and Vincent would not have to deal with his uncle. A time when they would only think of each other and not have to worry about someone hurting them.
"I wish to marry you on a beautiful day surrounded by the friends and loved ones we have here. Somehow, I want Artemis and the girl I grew up calling sister to be here to witness it. I want to walk down a path filled with flowers and see you at the end waiting for me. I never thought such a moment would ever happen for someone like me and for that, I am grateful for meeting you, Vincent. I love you," she declared, keeping full eye contact with him.
She couldn’t wait for the day she would become his wife and him, her husband.
"As you wish," Vincent replied. His chest had a fluttering feeling after hearing her describe how she would want to marry him. Unknown to her, he would start planning it as a surprise for everything happening now was all said and done.
"Why do I get the feeling you are already planning something, Vincent?" She smiled, going back to lay on his chest to listen to his heartbeat which somehow brought her peace.
"I am always planning. Just know, you’ll be happy in the end. Should I go out to kill my uncle right now and the Hamiltons tomorrow?" It didn’t sound like a bad idea when he said it out loud.
"Vincent, you can’t do that. If it was so easy you would have killed your uncle already. You might not be able to prove he played a hand in your parents’ deaths but you can get him for the attempts on your life. Tomorrow, I will find a way to contact Regina and work with her to get rid of Minnie Hamilton. I know you want to get married right away but it’s better for us to go against these people with a well thought out plan."
"You are right. Now, let us go to sleep and not think about these people any longer. If we stay up talking for much longer, I might break the promise of us just sleeping," he said, feeling himself get more excited the more she rubbed her thigh against his bottom half as she tried to get more comfortable.
’Not that I would mind,’ she thought. Still, laying together like this was more than enough for her tonight but tomorrow would be a different story. Being close like this increased her need to have him. With Cherry’s help, she planned to seduce him.
"Good night," she said before closing her eyes and drifting off to sleep.
"Good night," Vincent held her close so that she would not disappear from his arms. Instead of going to sleep, he decided to stay awake for a while to watch over Aurora.
Simultaneously, Regina and her family were returning from the party they attended earlier. All eyes were on Regina in the carriage, waiting for her to explain her new relationship with Timothy and the events leading up to it but she hadn’t spoken a word to anyone. fɾeewebnoveℓ.co๓
Regina was the first one to exit the carriage when it stopped at the entrance of their home. She was tired from being out all day and the only thing on her mind was taking off her dress and collapsing somewhere.
"Regina," Rachel called after her daughter. She thought about the entire situation on their way back home and came to the conclusion that Regina had been playing with her all along. Acting a fool to the young men Rachel introduced her to because she had something going on with Timothy. "Regina," she said again after no response.
"Regina," this time it was Minnie calling out for her.
"Yes please," Regina sighed but stopped to see what her family wanted now.
"Care to explain to me how all of a sudden Timothy is announcing he wants to court you? I know you, child," Minnie walked ahead of the others to get the information. The union between Timothy and Regina would be useful but she didn’t trust her granddaughter. Something wasn’t adding up.
"No, I don’t care to explain and correct, you don’t know me just like I don’t know you. Please leave me alone. I have been out since morning and I am tired. Can I please go to bed and discuss this in the morning?" Regina asked though she knew how impatient they were.
Though she was tired, it entertained her to see them trying to gain information from her and try to understand how she came to be this way with Timothy. Just a moment ago, most of them were pushing her off to the side as she had nothing to bring to the table. ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com
"Do you understand how you made a fool of us tonight? We weren’t able to give a proper answer about you and Timothy because you told us nothing. You left us standing there the entire night while you sat up there with Timothy. You embarrassed us by not allowing us to be able to go upstairs to talk to you," Rachel said.
"I thought when it came to things like this you had cut me off so what was I supposed to tell you? Why was I supposed to come to you, mother? You are no longer helping me to find a husband or being my guardian at these events. I assumed you would have let your friends know you were punishing me. I don’t have to explain anything to you, mother, Minnie, and Samuel," Regina pointed at each one of them.
"When are you going to grow up and stop being a brat?" Rachel had enough of Regina and her ridiculous behavior.
"A brat?" Regina chuckled. "When are you going to stop being so clueless, mother? I give out the same energy I receive and it’s not my fault you can’t handle it. This is me being tired of putting up with your crap for years."
"Putting up with my crap? Young lady, I have done nothing but try to help you!" Rachel exclaimed, completely losing her cool.
"Help me? You’re trying to turn me into you. A woman who isn’t sure she loves her husband, cherishes her son more than her daughter because you are hoping you can gain everything from Samuel’s success. You have been grooming me to become a miserable housewife just like you. All of your peers are doing that to their daughters. There’s just the rare chance that someone finds love."
Rachel sighed since Regina never seemed to understand how society works. "You don’t understand."
"I understand perfectly that I need to marry young before people start talking of how I have become too old and lost my beauty or that I won’t be able to provide for my husband with children. Or how status matters more than anything and how I shouldn’t do anything to have people talking about me but that life is boring and it is draining. We have enough money so what is the reason for me going out of my way to be someone I’m not?"
"Regina, listen. We’ll talk about this tomorrow," Nathaniel stepped in to be the voice of reason.
"No offense father but I don’t feel like explaining myself over and over again for none of you to listen in the end. I am tired of being around all of you," Regina confessed with tears forming in her eyes. "I can’t help how I hate all of you. Aurora was the only one who understood me."
