Chapter 172: Suspicious (3)
Aurora sat on one side of Vincent’s living room while Derek and Jane stared at her while the two children played with Mari for a moment. Aurora stared right back at them waiting for one of them to tell her why there was a staring game. frёewebnoѵēl.com
"Derek told me that last night you and Vincent were quite close to each other. Not that it is any of our business that seems so out of the blue seeing as you have always said your relationship was not like that," Jane said breaking the awkward staring contest.
As someone who had been around Aurora and Vincent a lot, Jane didn’t expect to see such a jump in their relationship with what Derek told her.
Aurora figured Derek wouldn’t be able to keep his mouth shut about what he saw last night. He had to tell his wife. ’How cute,’ she thought.
"Well, things can change in a blink of an eye right? Vincent and I are working it out. No need to worry," Aurora smiled wishing they would switch the topic after this.
"I see," Jane muttered.
"Why do you feel so different? I am not the only one sensing it." Derek felt like last night when he caught Aurora and Vincent in the act. This morning, he spoke to Mari and she also brought up a change in Aurora’s personality and essence. He knew something must have happened when she got kidnapped but Vincent didn’t mention anything when they spoke last night.
"You’re looking at the true Aurora, the creation of Artemis. Before I was not all myself but I am back now. The change will take a minute to get used to but I want to assure you that I am still the same. Just unlocked some old memories," she pointed at her head.
Jane and Derek looked at each other, still confused by what she meant. Vincent had told them a little bit about Aurora being herself but they weren’t expecting a personality change.
"Last night, did that help you to return to you? I heard a tree mysteriously fell on the house you and Cherry were held in. I assume you are the only one that can do that. You are making quite the stir in this community. I hope you are prepared for more people to become interested in you," said Jane.
The party ended before it could start and everyone was talking about Aurora.
Aurora shrugged, not caring about others talking about her. They had the right to that with someone they didn’t know. As Mari said, she would have to get to know them in the future and show them what she was really like. "I’ll be fine," she replied.
Aurora switched her focus from the married couple to the children they tainted their reputation to save. The two young girls seemed to be happy as they played with Mari. Their shabby clothes had switched the pretty dresses and ribbons in her hair. Either Jane or Derek was having fun dressing them up.
"How is it with the children?" She asked the couple.
In sync, Jane and Derek both smiled looking at the two little ones.
"It has been a fun experience. They have helped to liven up our home. Be sure to come to visit one day and see the children. It’s thanks to you we were able to help them. They kept asking for you which is why we bought them over today. We can’t keep them caged up in our home forever," Derek said now thinking of their plans to move away.
"I am sure your savings have taken a hit with the new addition to your family. I’m surprised by how quickly you got the dresses sent for them to wear. It shows that they were meant to be with the two of you-Oh," Aurora said when the smaller girl Tara approached her.
"Pretty," the young girl smiled, loving the color of Aurora’s hair. "Are you old?"
"Is it because of my hair you think that? I am old but my hair isn’t an indication of that. I was created with this white hair. Should I change the color?"
"Of course not," Vincent disagreed with Aurora. He liked her white hair and saw it as an addition to her endless beauty. "I love every inch of you and it would sadden me to see this hair change," he took up a strand of her hair to kiss it.
"You are making me and everyone else in the room uncomfortable Vincent. I had to rinse out my eyes for what I saw last night-"
"I thought you would have stopped visiting my home for a while to give me some privacy but I was wrong. In the future, I will make you feel the same way by interrupting all of your activities with Jane," Vincent threatened the man.
If Derek was going to keep interrupting the time he wanted to be alone with Aurora, Vincent was going to return the favor. He knew Derek hated nothing more than having his quality time with Jane interrupted but the man was too dense to notice when he did it to others.
Derek squinted his eyes not liking Vincent’s threats. It wasn’t like he was expecting Aurora and Vincent to be trying to make babies in the dining room. The two of them weren’t in a relationship and Aurora didn’t seem like she was falling for Vincent’s flirtatious ways. Oh, how wrong he was.
Vincent shouldn’t be upset with him anymore after the one mistake last night. It’s not like he interrupted anything this morning right? Derek stared at Vincent, suspicious of what he was doing when Mari had to look for him and Aurora. ’So early in the morning? You wild dog,’ Derek mentally cursed his friend.
"Next time Derek will knock instead of barging in. We should move on from what happened here last night. I’m sure the new couple doesn’t want to hear any more of how you blocked their desires last night. Were you able to find out anything from the people who took Aurora and Cherry, Vincent? Even if you suspect your uncle, you would still need proof," said Jane.
"It won’t be too long before my uncle messes up and exposes himself. Although I am upset with what happened to Aurora and Cherry, my concern has to be turned towards the vampires. They attacked without any reason and worst of all, they were half-bloods. Everyone is looking to piss me off these days," Vincent took a seat on the arm of the chair where Aurora sat.
"Your uncle wants to kill you and he’s doing the stupidest things to achieve it. If he was the one behind the vampire attack, he’ll be killed before anyone could even consider letting him take your spot. He is becoming more dangerous." Jane wanted Vincent to be more cautious these days because if Graham was taking these lengths to become a leader there is nothing he wouldn’t do to get rid of Vincent.
Someone targeted Aurora because they saw her as Vincent’s weakness. This was exactly what Jane did not want to happen. Vincent gave her a list of weaknesses he had aside from Aurora but she still saw Aurora as the one many would use against him. Graham liked Victor which is why he never tried to harm him. Jane liked Aurora but her presence here won’t be good for Vincent. It was her duty to look out for Vincent first and if she had to lose a friend doing that then so be it.
"I can read your mind like the back of my hand Jane and it will not be happening. I am going to get my uncle. I have been too kind by allowing him to be here without any kind of punishment for what he did to my parents and the foolishness he does to me. I will update the two of you later on but right now, you might want to enjoy time with the little humans I wish would stop staring at me. Am I too handsome?" Vincent asked the smaller child.
Never did he expect this house would have children in it and they would be human. He only thought of children he could share with Aurora. ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm
Tara nodded, rushing to hug Vincent because she viewed him as a prince.
"I think she has a crush on Vincent. Good luck Derek, those years are starting earlier," Aurora teased Derek enjoying the look of horror on his face.
Derek stood up from his seat quickly to pull Tara away from Vincent. He was the last person the little girl should have a crush on. "He is not handsome Tara. One day when you are thirty, you will find a nice man to settle down with."
Jane rolled her eyes hearing her husband say the little girl would get married at thirty. He was delusional right now but he couldn’t stop the girl from falling in love with someone long before she was thirty. Jane imagined the girl’s teen years will have Derek losing his mind.
