Chapter 173: Desires (1)

Vincent glared at Derek as the man started to lecture the young girls on why they should avoid boys with personalities like Vincent in the future. Derek didn’t have to worry about the little girl’s one day getting married to a man like him because he was too great for the world to have another person like him. "You are worrying all for nothing," said Vincent.

"I have to worry about them from a young age and teach them about the type of people they should avoid. Something is wrong that she looks at you as if you are a knight in shining armor. You are more like a villain to me."

"That does not offend me. I love being the villain," Vincent grinned, pissing off Derek even more. It was fun to see the man angry because the little girl thought he was handsome. Humans might be useful after all. Vincent enjoyed messing with Derek and the little girls were the new way for him to do so. "I can set them up to be engaged to nice young boys from-"

"No!" Jane and Derek yelled objecting to the offer. It was best for the children to find their own love. Even if it would be hard with Derel constantly over their shoulder. freēwebnovel.com

"Unless you plan to send them back to be with humans when they get older you must intervene and pick out a good husband for them. They can’t just fall in love with anyone here as they might have bad intentions. A fetish for humans they use and abuse behind closed doors. It has happened before thanks to the hunt," Vincent reminded the group.

Terrible things happened when they still took part in the hunt which was why he didn’t plan to bring it back.

Aurora was confused as to how the conversation shifted to the young girls getting married when they were so young. There was plenty of time before anyone had to worry about who their crush would be. It couldn’t be helped that Tara saw Vincent as handsome when he was.

"I don’t think I would be as happy as I am now if I had listened to my mother and found myself in an arranged marriage," Jane spoke up reflecting on her past.

"You’re happy now? With him?" Vincent pointed his finger at Derek. Sometimes he didn’t understand how Jane and Derek ended up together.

"So funny I forgot to laugh," Derek grumbled under his breath, wishing that for one moment he could just slap the heck out of Vincent. "If not for Abigail and Tara wanting to visit Aurora, I would not be spending my free day here with you, Vincent. Aurora, what do you think about getting your own home or staying with us?"

Vincent growled warning Derek not to go any further. Aurora wasn’t going to live with anyone but him. He could arrange for her to live in the house next door to him if she wanted to be all alone.

Aurora smiled hearing Vincent’s possessive side come out. "Do you wish to die early, Derek?" freewebnσvel.cøm

"No, and I am not getting used to how you are speaking. You can always tell her if this brute gave you a love spell to make you fall for him. Although he is handsome, not too many people would love him enough to put up with his personality. That’s why he’s not married yet when he should have been. I pity the young lady that ends up with him. No offense Aurora but I have a feeling you’ll be running for the hills shortly."

"None taken. You never know what to expect in the future. I just might run away from him," Aurora joked looking up to Vincent who didn’t find it to be funny.

"As long as you know that I am an excellent hunter and I can find you anywhere you go. I will go to the end of the earth to find and have you back by my side," Vincent promised her.

Aurora looked away from Vincent to ask the others, "Doesn’t that sound less romantic and more like a crazy stalker? Should I be fearing for my life?"

Jane only smiled while Derek nodded his head in agreement.

"Now that we had this lovely conversation and the children have seen Aurora, why don’t you all return home?" Vincent said to the couple who had just arrived not too long ago. He felt like the visit should be short and sweet because he had other things to do.

Derek frowned, disliking how quickly he was being pushed away. "Who on earth pissed in your coffee this morning? We came here at this time because I assumed you were awake already, had your coffee, and some of your brute personality would be gone."

"Vincent woke up late this morning and didn’t have his coffee or breakfast yet," said Mari. She had been knocking on Vincent’s door this morning, before she went to Aurora, to give him a cup of coffee but she did not get a response from him. "Shall I have the table set up for breakfast and bring out your coffee?"

"Yes. Set the table for two," Vincent replied.

"Hey!" Derek exclaimed, pointing his finger at Vincent. The man was extremely rude. ’How have I survived working with him for so long?’ He thought.

"I assumed that before you came all the way over here you fed yourself and the children? Was I wrong and you are actually being cheap by not feeding your family? I know how much money you make Derek. Shame on you," Vincent shook his head.

"We did eat" Jane answered since her husband’s mouth was wide open after Vincent’s allegations. "We thought you had eaten by now. There is no need for the table to be set for more than two people. I don’t want the girls to overeat and Derek, you had three portions this morning."

Aurora found it to be amusing that Jane was the one wearing the pants in the relationship. She always kept Derek in check. It was starting to make sense why the two were together or maybe Derek was the more dominating one when he and Jane were home.

It was interesting to see two opposites attract. The slacker and the hard worker. In a perfect world for Derek, he would be the one staying home watching the children while Jane went out to work. The strange thing is that it would actually work for the two of them.

"Why are you staring at me so intently Aurora?" Derek asked after noticing her gaze on him. He grinned, deciding to use this moment as payback to Vincent for all the things he said. "Did you just realize how much more handsome I am than Vincent?" He asked only to receive a smack at the back of his head from Jane and Vincent throwing a chair pillow at him.

"It’s not good we have so many violent people around these children," he muttered rubbing the back of his head where Jane hit him. Derek was certain she caused damage to his brain. "Can you please stop hurting me, honey?"

"Say stupid things and you will get smacked," Jane replied getting up from her stop to fix Abigail’s dress which had riled up thanks to her running around the room with her sister.

"Jane, that can be taken as you saying finding myself more handsome than Vincent is stupid. That hurts my feelings. Right girls," he pouted trying to use the girls for sympathy but they only laughed at him. "I need to find someone who will be on my side in arguments."

"I think you are like a prince," Abigail said to cheer him up. She saw Derek as her hero because he saved both her and her sister. Now they had an actual home rather than sleeping on the street and begging for food. He bought them clothes she had always wanted to wear, making her feel like a princess. "You’re number one," she held her thumb up.

Derek’s eyes started to water because of this. He got down on his knees shuffling his way to Abigail to give her a hug. "See, someone gets it."

"I wasn’t expecting to see a grown man cry today but it is cute I guess," Aurora said watching Derek try to hold back his tears but lost it when Tara came to hug him. Aurora was pretty sure the smaller child had no idea what was going on and was only hugging Derek because her sister was doing the same.

"Extremely cute. It makes me fall in love with him all over again," Jane started with a smile but as the moment passed, the smile turned into a frown.

"Breakfast is ready. The cook prepared treats for everyone here," Mari announced when she came back.

As everyone started to get up to go to the dining room Aurora used this opportunity to pull Jane to one side and tell her, "There is something special about me Jane. Every once in a while, I can grant a wish. It can be anything you ever desire. I would like to offer that wish to you.
