Chapter 170: Suspicious (1)

Timothy chuckled hearing Regina call him crazy for proposing a marriage between the two of them. Her response was expected considering the two of them were known to butt heads whenever they were in the same room but he was long over that. "Doesn’t a union between us sound like a good idea? Your mother would jump for joy if I come and propose it now."

"She would. She might even die of a heart attack from the excitement. Unfortunately for you, I am the one picking my future husband. I can barely stand being in this carriage with you for a short period of time, what makes you think I wish to see you every day as my husband?"

"The good thing about my wealth would be my home. It is large enough that we could live there without having to see each other during the day. If you so wish, my bedroom door would always be open to you at night." Timothy tried to avoid Regina kicking him in the no-no zone after this statement but she managed to get them. He hissed from the pain, leaning over to hide his expression from her.

"Keep talking nonsense and you won’t be able to do your part in giving your future wife a child. I don’t know what on earth is going on in your mind but you and I should never ever get married to each other. No one wants to hear us arguing over and over again. We hate each other," Regina reminded him since he seemed to have forgotten.

"On the contrary Regina, it is only you with the hating. I have been interested in you for a while now and I thought it was quite clear every time we met but you still thought of it as me teasing you. Now you know that is not what it is. Whatever reason you changed your mind about marriage, just know that I could be useful to you. My family has an incredible amount of wealth and connections to the palace. Wouldn’t I be at the top of your list?" He smirked, waiting for her response.

If anyone told him when he was younger he would have an interest in Regina, he would also call them crazy as Regina did to him. He was in denial for a while about the growing feeling he had whenever the two of them were in the same room. He finally accepted it the day he heard a rumor she was going to be married but it was false. He realized from then he had to make a move or someone else would be with her.

"It sounds like you have an interest in my looks and that is why you want to marry me. What will happen when my looks fade away? Why are you going after someone who doesn’t like you when there are plenty of women from good families who would jump at the chance to be your wife and listen to all your commands," said Regina.

"Commands? You make me sound like such a bad person or like I would be a bad husband. Give me one chance to woo me and if you think a marriage won’t work out, I will leave you alone and never ask you about this ever again. What do you think?" He proposed an idea.

Regina felt for some reason she was being pranked because of what she knew Timothy to be like. He could say all of this with a straight face and then when she shows up he would laugh in her face. It wouldn’t be the first time he ever did it. "I swear if I show up anywhere and this is just a joke I will strangle you with my bare hands and kill your dog."

Timothy was confused about how his dog got into the mix but found her threat silly in the end. The crazy part was he wholeheartedly believed she would strangle him if he was joking. "Knights honor I am not joking with you. I will send the invitation to you personally and one of my carriages. No offense but the ones your family has seems to be no good."

The carriage came to a halt in the middle of the town to let Regina off. Timothy was going somewhere else but only came this way because of Regina.

"I look forward to seeing you soon," he tried to pick up her hand to kiss it but Regina pulled it away and immediately tried to get out of the carriage before the driver could come to help her. Timothy blinked twice before laughing at the situation. He wasn’t offended by it because it was normal for them.

"Just so you know," he said just as she was about to step out. Regina stopped to listen to what he had to say. "When I said I grew interested in you as you got older, I wasn’t meaning I just wanted you for your body. You know there are women with better bodies than you right? Why would I go through all this trouble with you if I just wanted someone to sleep with-Oh snap," he dodged her, sending a punch his way.

"You idiot! You didn’t need to add in that last part," she wanted to yell this at him but because the door was open and people were looking to see who was getting out she held back herself.

"Well, you weren’t believing me. Sorry if I hurt your feelings but what I like about you is not your body. It has always been your personality. Not many women can be as sarcastic and blunt as you. I have a feeling our married days would be full of laughter. "

Regina looked away from him to hide her facial expression. He made her feel something in her chest so she wanted to leave before he could see it and tease her about it. "If you don’t send the invitation in the next two days, I will reject hearing anything you have to say to me. Goodbye," she told him. Now that the driver was at her door, she accepted his help getting out.

"See you soon," she heard Timothy’s voice behind her.

"I am amazed that you didn’t have to go looking for your future husband. He came right to you," Esmeralda spoke up for the first time after enjoying the conversion between Regina and Timothy.

"That man is not my future husband," Regina corrected her great grandmother. She was only humoring Timothy because he gave her a ride to where she needed to go.

"I share a different opinion but time will tell. I hope you have a wonderful time on this day he plans to woo you. Remember not to respond to me out loud because the people around us can’t see me. The last thing you need is for people to think you are crazy or perhaps speaking to the dead. They’ll accuse you of being a witch and burn you."

’I am a witch though,’ Regina thought.

"I’ll walk ahead to lead you to where the witches are. Follow me," Esmeralda went ahead so that Regina would walk alone. She didn’t think it was best for them to walk side by side because of the possibility they might speak to each other and someone might see Regina speaking to herself.

Rumors and gossip spread quickly here so it wouldn’t take long for everyone to be talking about Regina. Regina was young and now looking to build her reputation in high society. Esmeralda saw it best that Regina got together with Timothy as soon as she could because he looked to have come from a reputable family and he was smitten by te Regina. It was good the young man did not listen to Samuel and instead went to Regina.

Though they were siblings, Regina shouldn’t rely too much on Samuel since he was looking out for his own benefit.

Regina walked behind Esmeralda with an aura full of elegance and it always was. Anyone passing by could see that she came from wealthy training because of how she stood out in the crowd. She walked as if she was trained from the moment she came out of her mother’s womb. She probably was in Regina’s opinion.

She followed Esmeralda away from the part of town she would normally venture to a place where she saw items she would never look to buy. This part of town was the place some people must go to get deals. Luckily, the guards were around to protect her from the people looking at her clothing and jewelry with interest.

"Here it is," Esmeralda pointed to the shop.

Regina walked normally towards the shop instead of rushing so she wouldn’t appear suspicious. She entered the shop and closed the door behind her. When she did this a bell signaled her presence. Looking around, she wasn’t expecting the shop to be full of books.

"We have visiting sister. Look at the flame, by the door she brought a soul with her."

Regina turned around to look at the flame the woman spoke of but didn’t see anything. She looked back at the shop to see the woman but was caught off guard when the shop changed to be full of little animals in jars. ƒreewebηoveℓ.com

"You are well dressed for a witch," said Agatha.
