Chapter 139: Lose control (5)
"Your eyes, are you okay?" Aurora couldn’t stop looking at how bright his eyes had become. She wondered if they were always like this in the dark or was this happening because something was wrong with him.
"Do you not care for your safety?" Vincent sank his claws into the palm of his hand to release his growing anger as the cigar had not taken full effect as yet. He was so out of it that he hadn’t noticed Aurora following him until she entered his room. She was too kind and there were many people who would take advantage of it like him.
"I don’t think you’ll hurt me and didn’t you see today what I can do? Try anything and I’ll do that to you," Aurora joked as she didn’t have a clue how to do what she did today.
Vincent scoffed looking up to tap the ashes off of the cigar but made sure they didn’t drop on Aurora. "Is that so? Do you remember everything?" He couldn’t forget the brief moment of how she spoke today. There was a fire at that moment that the Aurora he recently saved was missing.
"No. There must have been a great difference in my personality if everyone could tell something happened to me. You were right that the past me or the real me isn’t as innocent as I think I am. With the life that I have lived, I don’t have it in me to hang someone." freёwebnovel.com
"What are you worrying about?" Vincent could tell that she had something on her mind. It must’ve been a crazy experience for her to go through.
"I have no memory of what happened today and to everyone else how I acted today didn’t seem like me. So, when I fully wake up, will I be gone? Will she really not have my memories like I don’t have hers? She’ll return to how she was in the past right? People that I care about won’t matter to her." Aurora was concerned that if she woke up and crossed paths with Regina, the new Aurora would ignore her.
Vincent understood the concern. He knew how much she cared for the girl she called sister and if waking up meant she could forget her, it might make Aurora not want to change. "I can’t tell you what will happen because I have never experienced something like this myself or with anyone I know. Maybe your life with that Regina girl will be forgotten or maybe they will be remembered. The future is unpredictable. Are you going to continue to find the real you?" freewebnoveℓ.com
Aurora averted her eye contact with Vincent now that it had become overwhelming. "I am so close to being the Aurora you once knew, it makes no sense to stop now. I’m going to face my fears head-on instead of this back and forth. Back to you, are you okay?"
Vincent pushed himself away from her and placed the cigar in his mouth for one final blow.
"Are you not concerned that it will kill you? You shouldn’t use it too often. I’ve heard a lot about people who have died from smoking too much."
"I should write down this day for being special because of how much concern you have for me. Don’t worry about the cigar, it won’t kill me. It stops me from killing anyone. I only use it when I can’t control myself and I need to calm down. And I’m not smoking that thing the humans smoke. This was specially made by yours truly," he pointed at her.
Aurora pointed to herself in disbelief that she would make such a thing for him. "I made that? Why? What is inside of it?" Now that he mentioned it, the cigar didn’t give off a scent similar to the ones she smelt when Nathaniel Hamilton smoked his cigars. Nathaniel had a wide range of cigars and the one Vincent had didn’t smell familiar.
Vincent placed his index finger to his lips showing that it was a secret. "Somethings are better left unknown. Thanks to you, I have this to keep me in check. When you left here in the past, I found the recipe you used and kept making the cigars myself. At first, you wanted me to drink what you created but smoking it was the better idea. It would have been suspicious if anyone caught me continuously drinking what looked like Medicine. They would think I’m sick."
"Glad to know I helped you back then but why couldn’t I have thought of anything better than smoking it? As long as you are happy with it I guess. Are you ready to talk about what happened when you stayed back there? And I am curious to know how on earth did you get to your home before us." How he came back here so fast was the biggest mystery that only she seemed to be concerned about. Could he teleport? Was that a thing werewolves could do?
Vincent flicked her head with his finger to stop her from running wild with the thoughts in her head. Being an overthinker wasn’t a good thing in his opinion. "When I am on the verge of shifting into my wolf, it heightens my abilities and makes me stronger, faster, etc. I ran home. And you must be forgetting that you weren’t the only carriage taking that road and you weren’t speeding. Well, I hope not."
"That is true. I ignored all of these things just because you got back first," Aurora realized. "Now that is out of the way, can you please tell me what made you so upset that you can’t control yourself and have to smoke? And be honest if it has something to do with me. I don’t want you to get in trouble because of me."
"It truly does not have anything to do with you. My uncle is the one I am itching to kill but I can’t just do it without a reason or it will give me a bad look. People here might think I am free to kill off any of them as I please. That is not the type of leader I want them to see me as. I don’t plan to disappoint my father."
"I see. It’s good of you to not want to abuse your power. Not many leaders care not to make their people not afraid of them. Well done," she patted his back.
"Yes but I’m still going to kill him. I know he is the one behind my parent’s death but I don’t have the proof to physically show anyone. I have just been waiting for him to make one mistake that I will punish him for. He likes to have others do his dirty work and cut ties with them if they get caught trying to attack me. When all you left, he had the nerve to mention being my father figure since I don’t have one. Like he wasn’t the one who killed his own brother." Vincent felt the need to use the cigar again but didn’t want to since Aurora didn’t like it.
"How are you so certain that your uncle was the one who killed your parents?" Aurora asked. It was sad how blood meant nothing to some people and they could kill their own just to have more power or wealth.
"There was a war between werewolves and vampires that day. My parents always went out and fought in front of our warriors. The night before I had stayed awake to listen to their plans of how they would attack. My parents and uncle had a plan to use our warriors as a distraction while they take out the vampire royalty. I never mentioned that I knew this and listened to the story my uncle told of why he wasn’t with my parents."
Vincent continued to say, "He never once mentioned that the three of them had tried to kill the royals or that he had seen them after the war started. I know my parents very well and they loved to have a strategy when going to war that they never drift from unless we were losing. We were winning the war until it was announced my parents had been killed and our warriors were ordered to retreat by my uncle.
Vincent found it suspicious that his uncle never spoke of going after the vampires with his parents and he retreated when they were close to winning. Winning would have ended the suffering werewolves went through because of vampires. It was also suspicious that the vampires hadn’t killed Graham when there was a possibility he could have become the next leader unless that was what they wanted. A werewolf alpha who had to repay them and would allow vampires to enter the community as they pleased.
"The day we had to send off my parent’s spirits, my uncle had pretended to be so kind to hold the ceremony at his home. Tell me why a man who claimed to have not seen my parents when the war started and didn’t see their dead bodies because they were taken back to our elders for them to pray over their souls, had the blade that belonged to my father? Victor and I saw my parent’s bodies before anyone else and I searched their bodies."
