Chapter 106: Problem (3)

"I enjoy spending time with Cherry and hearing of the many ways she has tried to beat you. The two of you seem like the oddest pair of friends because of your personalities but I guess that makes the best kind of friendship," said Aurora

"I envy how many good friends you have around you. I really wanted to have a large group of friends in the past but no one would ever talk to me for too long because of rumors they heard. I’m sorry for boring you with this depressing topic. I’m also tired of hearing myself being nothing more than a victim."

"It isn’t boring to me. I want you to be open with what you feel now and in the past. It’s better than keeping it bottled up inside. There are a lot of good people for you to be friends with here. You have a long life ahead of you and you can replace the bad memories you have with new ones in the future," Vincent said in hopes to cheer her up.

Aurora smiled because of his kind words. "Are you this nice to everyone or is it just me? They kind of paint you to be a brute."

"I’m selective when it comes to being nice. What do you paint me to be?" He asked.

"Truthfully, it’s just annoying when you keep teasing me. You have been nothing but nice to me this entire time. Maybe your friends aren’t accustomed to this behavior and that’s why they would not drop the idea that I might become your wife in the future. I’m flattered by how true they think it will be when they hardly know me. Your future wife could be out there looking for you and you don’t know it."

"If I was meant to be with someone else I would be married by now. Even if I had to let go of what we had in the past. But yes, the future is unknown and things can end up different from what we expect. You might end up surprising yourself," he hinted at the fact she might be the one thinking of being his wife one day.

"I should start taking bets so that I can gain some money off of everyone’s predictions of our relationships. Lucian," she read another title and showed it to Vincent. freewёbnoνel.com

"It’s the diary of the first alpha. Be careful with it as it is the only version we have in the community. Someone is meant to come and write it out in a new book. I was given the book to read when I became the alpha and I am meant to start writing one of my own in case something happens to me it can provide advice to the alpha after me," he explained and pushed his body off the wall to look at some of the books he had saved but hadn’t read in a long time.

"Is there only one alpha at a time?"

"No, there can be more than one but it means they will have to fight over who actually gets to lead the pack. Alpha’s only come from certain families and this time, I was the only one to be a true alpha in the Lawerence family. Victor can only transform into a wolf. We don’t know how the alpha chooses the person it will become a part of which is why my uncle is angry it skipped him," Vincent smiled remembering the disappointment on his uncle’s face.

"What do you mean by choosing?" Aurora assumed they were just born as the alpha and realized it when they came of a certain age.

"There’s a spirit we believe knows who is meant to be the alpha and from the Lawerance family, it has been picking who it wants. Why it made me the only one is unknown but I believe it knows anyone who goes against me shall be defeated."

"Your confidence never ceases to amaze me, Vincent. Will you ever be so kind as to share some of this confidence with me? A cup full is all I need and you have so much to spare that I doubt you will miss any of it. What do you think?" She questioned walking behind a shelf to hide from him.

"Fine by me but I will need something in exchange. A reward for granting you something so powerful. What do you think?" He threw back her question and waited. "Equivalent exchange."

Aurora rolled her eyes knowing what he wanted. "I’m not going to kiss you."

"I didn’t think of a kiss for even a second but since you have brought up the idea-"

"Liar," she appeared on the other side of the bookshelf to where he stood. "Don’t try to act all innocent. We knew both knew you were thinking it," she pointed a finger accusingly at him.

Vincent grabbed hold of her finger and said, "But you were the one to say it out loud. I really wasn’t referring to a kiss but the invitation to go somewhere with me as my date. I only received the invitation today and have no one to go with. Your company would be helpful."

"Truly?"

"Truly," he promised.

"Are you sure you’re not the devil?" She questioned finding him to be more than just a werewolf. He could be the devil himself standing before her and lying about who he really is. "This wolf community can all be an illusion."

Vincent chuckled upon hearing her crazy theory and flicked her forehead. "No, I am not the devil. That man is worse than you think I am. I am simply Vincent Lawerence," he released her finger.

"There is nothing simple about you," she declared looking up to him craning her neck in the process. ’Why did he have to be so tall?’ she thought.

To tease her once again, Vincent leaned down to her level to whisper in her right ear, "If that is what you think, I won’t disagree with you."

Aurora blushed because of their closeness. "You’re too close-Ah!" She exclaimed when he blew air just below her ear.
