Chapter 101: Growing circle (1)

"Can we please get to gushing over the dresses I brought today? Allow me to put on a show to present some of what I have for you, Aurora. We can use the sitting room and then I want to go upstairs and see what your closet is like. I hope it’s big enough to hold everything or we’ll have to redesign one of his guest rooms to be a massive closet like what I did with my home. It’s not like he brings any guests over," Cherry started creating her own plans for Aurora’s closet.

"More money for Vincent to spend?" Jane highlighted this one fact.

Cherry sighed because of Jane being a killjoy once again. "I’m going to pay for it to be done. You need a fabulous room to hold all of your wonderful dresses. And before you object to this Aurora, think of it as an early birthday present. And Vincent’s home is so eerie with all the black. It’s so depressing. I should help you redesign it to make it more vibrant with color."

Aurora looked around the home taking in how many dark colors he had in his home. She wasn’t sure how she missed the lack of color in his home aside from flowers placed here and there but she liked it. Her room had white walls and she was sort of jealous it didn’t have the dark theme like the rest of the house. The home fit Vincent’s vibe and instead of having more color by changing furniture, she would love to place some of the roses from the garden inside the home.

"I prefer to leave everything the way it is. His decor is unique. What?" Aurora asked when Cherry gave her a funny look. Was it weird to like the dark theme?

"Nothing. Place the dresses in this room for me fellas. I’ll give all of you something extra for all your hard work today," Cherry told the men she brought along today. "Mari, can you be a dear and come tell me which ones you like most? I’m so indecisive because all of them are my favorite and I can’t pick what to show to Aurora first."

"Can I? Coming," Mari replied when Aurora gave her the all-clear to help Cherry. She enjoyed dressing up as Aurora and now she had more than enough clothes to do so every day.

Aurora smiled seeing Mari and Cherry’s excitement. She was about to follow after them to the sitting room but Jane stopped her. "Is there something wrong Jane?"

"No, but I wanted to speak with you quickly. Please do not get the wrong idea that I might not like you because of how strong I come off sometimes. I’m always told I have to be a little bit warmer with my words and being that you and I are strangers, you might take what I say as me not liking you. I want you to hear from my own mouth that is not the case," Jane decided to get that out the way since she’ll be spending a lot of time with Aurora as her guard and the last thing she wanted Aurora to think was that she had something against her.

"I haven’t for a second thought you disliked me," Aurora chuckled, surprising Jane with her words. "You are looking out for Vincent so he doesn’t have too many things caused by me to worry about in the future when his mind must be preoccupied in watching his uncle."

"He told you everything about his uncle?" If he did, Jane would be surprised as he hadn’t discussed the bad blood he had with his uncle to many people. He was dealing with the situation privately to not bring light to the community that the Lawerence family were at war with each other for the position of leader and also the fact Vincent believed his uncle had something to do with his parent’s death.

"He didn’t go into full detail about it but I know he doesn’t have a good relationship with the man. I understand your need to be protective over Vincent since you know his troubles better than I do. I promise to try my best not to get myself into anything that will cause harm to him or put him in a difficult situation," Aurora held up her right hand to show the oath she was making. "I hope you and I will be good friends in the future Jane. I didn’t have many in the past besides my siblings."

"We will be." Jane realized she had underestimated Aurora upon meeting the girl. She assumed the girl wasn’t well aware of her environment and how careful she needed to be but Aurora had already thought about all of that. Jane knew going forward Aurora will continue to surprise everyone she crossed paths with.

Instead of pushing her to tell Vincent all of her problems, Jane scolded herself for not first helping Aurora learn how to protect herself. Jane hated depending on others in certain situations so she now realized how much of a hypocrite she was in an effort to look out for Vincent. Thankfully, Aurora understood where she was coming from. "If you ever need my help with anything, please feel free to reach out to me. I’m not a lover of too many girly things but I am willing to talk about anything," Jane offered.

’How cute,’ Aurora thought, watching Jane awkwardly scratch the back of her neck. ƒree𝑤ebnσvel.com

"You never wanted to talk to me about girl stuff and I knew you much longer than Aurora!" Cherry yelled from the sitting room. The house was filled with wolves which meant there was no privacy in conversations.

"You want to talk about dresses all day long and I don’t. And it’s not fair when you don’t want me to talk too much about my knife collection. Come to me when it’s not about dresses Cherry," Jane responded walking side by side with Aurora as they walked into the sitting room. "It’s surprising how different we became as adults, Jane. When we were children, you used to be the girliest girl I ever knew with all the prettiest dresses money could buy." Cherry shook her head in disbelief as young Jane and current Jane were different as night and day. "Now, you’re so rough. You could totally go toe to toe with your husband in a fight and win."
