Chapter 88: Chapter 88
The Omegas were right about Fleur being by the stalls, they found the Omega seated by the stalls, a handful of Alphas trying to talk to her.
She rose to her feet the moment she saw Valentin coming though, smiling at the boys around her as she excused herself.
"We’ll see you around." The duo of Omegas waved off Valentin after he thanked them, reluctantly walking off.
Fleur reached out to pinch Valentin’s cheek, "Look at you, all grown." She smiled radiantly, reaching out to pinch Audie’s cheeks as well.
"You saw us a few months ago." Valentin pointed out, letting her do as she wished.
Meanwhile, Audie evaded her reach, taking her hand instead to press a kiss on her lace glove. "It’s a pleasure to see you again, Fleur." He said smoothly.
Valentin looked at him in concern, not buying his act. While Fleur smiled politely.
"How charming," She murmured, taking her hand back. "Have either of you come across Dodie? She asked me to wait here for her but I’m certain she must have gotten distracted again."
Audie wore a long face at her request. "You see Dodie every other day, don’t you? And you haven’t seen me in a while, why don’t you let me take you on a tour of the college grounds, instead?"
Fleur was quite delicate, the daughter of a noble lord who didn’t hold any titles. She became friends with Dodie in college and they had been inseparable ever since. She had flaxen hair which looked as soft as spun gold and misty amber eyes. She was soft-spoken and smiled often, a visible contrast to Dodie.
She didn’t hold back any punches when it came to Audie though. "Oh no, thank you, I’d rather be with Dodie." She said bluntly, chasing her cutting words with a radiant smile. freewebnovel.cσ๓
Audie immediately went down in misery, clutching his heart. Ever since Dodie invited her new friend over to their manor, Audie had tried to get in her good graces but she turned him down at every other chance. ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com
"Could you take me to Dodie, Valentin?" She returned to pinching his cheeks. "I’d like to see Errol, and Nael, he has the softest cheeks, although he doesn’t let me touch them."
Valentin led the way to the racecourse, indulging Fleur the whole way there.
Audie trudged right after them, a black cloud hanging over his head.
Fleur had been waiting because Dodie asked her to, she didn’t want her delicate friend walking endlessly so she offered to find the boys instead and then bring them to her but she must have gotten distracted.
"She’s currently about to have a horse-racing competition with Henri," Valentin answered when Fleur asked.
"Prince Henri?" Fleur started, forgetting to pinch Valentin’s cheeks. Dodie exchanged letters with Errol so they both knew about the prince.
Valentin wisely put some distance in between them before she remembered to squeeze his face again, rubbing the sore skin. "Yes, they should all be at the race course."
By the time they got to the race course, the race between Dodie and Henri was over. Well, it was quite a stretch to call it a race.
Dodie also favored large horses and was wowed by Henri’s choice, no one rode Moonlight so she hadn’t seen him at the last Inter-school sports event. They spent the entire time studying each other’s techniques and horses.
It was more a friendly meander than a race but that was also because the officials wouldn’t let them race.
By the time Valentin brought Fleur over to the racecourse, Dodie was already gone. It was about time for the horse races to begin and as the female category was the first to begin, she was called away.
The crowd of mixed students slowly gravitated to the first competition of the day, some not even bothering to come around at all.
They met up at the seats placed at the center space of the race course, Fleur immediately throwing herself on Errol with the brightest smile.
Nael evaded her searching hands, having to fight another girl off Errol. Fortunately, she was equally distracted by Henri, a surprised sound leaving her when she pinched his cheeks.
"Oh, how soft." She saw in an awed voice, her eyes rounded.
Louis and Dio were subjected to her whims but she quickly returned to Henri after declaring that he had the softest cheeks.
A vein ticked on Henri’s jaw as he turned to Errol, displeasure in his darkening eyes.
Errol quickly pulled the touchy Omega off him, Tarquin coming over to call for Henri.
The race was about to begin, and from their spot, they could clearly see Dodie put on fingerless gloves, a bright smile on her face.
Her win was assured but after she crossed the finish line and got off her horse, Fleur charged across the space to her, throwing herself at Dodie without warning.
Dodie caught her nonetheless, like she expected it, letting Fleur hang off her like a koala.
Even after they met up with the rest, Fleur hung off Dodie’s arm and she let her, taking a breather on the seats to watch Henri race.
Audie was surprisingly quiet, the quietest he possibly had ever been in his life. He sat at the edge of the group, glaring darkly at his older sister.
"There’s no reason to be so bitter. Here, I’ll hang off your arm." Valentin offered, trying to cheer his friend up.
Audie perked up at this, he placed an arm around Valentin’s waist and pulled him closer, all without warning. Then he sighed and let his friend go. "It’s just not the same."
Valentin checked his pulse unconsciously, his eyes still wide in shock. "Yeah, it isn’t." He agreed absently, staring into space.
During his race, Henri was nice enough to temper his speed so that he didn’t leave the rest of the participants in the dust. He got off his horse with a sour expression after the race although everyone was cheering for him.
His mood only improved when Tarquin came over to congratulate him and Moonlight, the senior’s happiness was quite contagious.
He was ambushed by a group of tittering Omegas on his way back to his friends, a surprised look on his face. He had become so used to everyone treating him like he was just like everyone else, that he forgot about the risk of this.
They only wanted to have a brief conversation with him though, most likely to be able to boast that they spoke to the Omega Prince.
Henri didn’t mind this, as long as they left him alon... His thoughts were cut short when he bumped into Louis.
