Chapter 89: Chapter 89

"Are you alright?" Louis asked in worry, looking him over.

"I’m fine," Henri said dryly, taking a slight step back to put some distance between them.

"The group of girls buried you so I was worried." He said honestly, still eyeing up Henri like he didn’t believe him.

’Did that mean that he was shorter than the Omegas?’

He turned to look at them in disbelief, noticing that they were still huddled some distance away from him and seemed to be whispering excitedly amongst themselves.

"I said I’m fine." He huffed, stomping off in a different direction from the racecourse seating area. He remembered that the archery competition was next, and he wanted to see Alois compete.

Louis went after him. "Where are you going?"

"The archery range, you don’t have to come with... me." Henri trailed off when Louis caught up to him.

"I don’t have anything better to do, I might as well." He said a little too honestly.

Henri’s worries were rooted in the fact that Louis would take his overprotectiveness a little too far again. They were out in public, no one would do anything to him. His protests died on his lips when he glanced behind him and saw Dio silently standing, he hadn’t even noticed when the Alpha closed the space between them.

"Fine, you can both come." Henri gave in, leading the way.

He figured that they might both come in handy after all, students from Omega Institute might be less inclined to approach him if he was with them both. He didn’t even mind walking in the middle of them.

Henri glanced behind him to see if he could still catch a glimpse of the Omegas that had ambushed him and if there were any more and much to his surprise, they were right behind them.

It was almost like they were tailing him, should he be worried about that? It also seemed like there were more of them now. Maybe Louis was right after all and there was a reason to be worried.

Cecil stood stiffly beside his roommate who was counting arrows with a single hand, his other hand firmly grasping his wrist so that he couldn’t leave.

Perry and Leeson had abandoned him right after the opening ceremony and before Cecil could make himself acquainted with even a single Omega, Alois swooped down and snatched him up.

Or so he told himself...

Just like how the crowd of girls that surrounded Alois managed to give him a wide berth, so did the Omegas he approached before Alois found him.

Was he Omega repellent then? Or was it because he had lost his fair hair? That had to be it.

But what he didn’t understand was why Alois had to keep him here, he literally had a small horde of girls regardless of class eating out of his hand, what more did he want?

It didn’t help that Alois gave more attention to him than them, it made him burn a dark red.

"Oh Alois!" A new girl walked up, her skirt was a dark green to indicate that she was in her final year.

Her auburn hair flowed like lava down her back, a haughty expression in her beautiful eyes. "I’ve spent so long searching for you," She said, raising a hand covered in black lace.

"Only to find you surrounded by a bevy of..." She swept an icy gaze over the Omegas present. "... pretty ladies."

The Omegas all seemed wary of her, dispersing quickly like they didn’t want to get on her bad side.

Alois kept a poised mask on. "Lady Giselle, it’s an honor to have the pleasure of your company." He said formally, taking her gloved hand without letting go of Cecil. ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm

Giselle noticed this, a cruel light in her eyes. "Are you allowed a butler?" She snarked, looking Cecil up and down with disdain.

Alois dropped her hand like she burned him, his dark green eyes cooling. "That’s a silly question to ask, Giselle." He scolded calmly.

Cecil wilted under Giselle’s glare as she sidled closer to Alois, wishing his roommate would let him go. The fact that he had been referred to as a butler even if he knew it was from a place of jealousy touched a nerve.

It made him want to return to the dorms and spend the rest of the day in his bed. For the first time, he felt out of his depth, like an imposter wearing velvet clothes.

Giselle pouted like she didn’t expect to get scolded by Alois over a commoner. "I was merely teasing, who is he?" She asked rudely, hanging onto Alois’ other arm.

"Giselle, this is Cecil, my b..."

"His roommate." Cecil interrupted him, using both of his hands to try to pry off Alois’ hold this time.

Giselle fixated on this. "I don’t recognize him, he must not be a noble then?" She said to Alois, refusing to address Cecil.

Alois reluctantly let Cecil go when he started to get a bit frantic, Henri showing up just as he was about to leave.

This meant that Giselle’s attention was immediately taken up but she still held tight to Alois even as the mousy Alpha scurried off. Her cold calculating eyes fixed on him, she would have to do a bit of research on who he was. Giselle was very shrewd when it came to creating connections to make her family even more powerful.

As the son of the General of Reinhold’s entire military force, Alois was a safe bet for her.

"Your Highness, what a pleasant surprise." She smiled and flipped her hair like Henri had come to see her.

Henri glanced from the Omega hanging off Alois’ arm to him with a questioning look in his grey eyes, Louis and Dio avoiding Giselle’s curious looks.

In her opinion, anyone acquainted with the Prince was worthy of notice, she was well aware that Prince Henri was far beyond her reach or she would have dug her claws into him too.

Alois’ mask broke when Cecil hurried off, a frown on his handsome face. He would have gone after him if he wasn’t about to participate in a competition.
