Chapter 78: Chapter 78

Audie zipped up his tent and calmly took off his cotton shirt to get some quality sleep, ignoring his best friend who was fake crying right outside his tent.

A few feet away from the ruckus both Alphas were making, Errol stood in front of his own tent with a dilemma. Nael was still holding his hand, they surely couldn’t sleep in separate tents like this.

Errol could also just let go of Nael’s hand and the Alpha would give him space but he didn’t want to. If Nael wanted to hold his hand, then he would let him.

"You can sleep in my tent if you want." He offered with a kind smile, looking up at Nael who was attached to his side.

"I’ll get my sleeping bag..." Nael immediately said, making a move to follow through.

Errol frowned, "You don’t want to share my sleeping bag?" He asked innocently, trying to picture how they would keep holding hands in separate sleeping bags.

Nael was instantly rooted to the ground. "You want me to share your sleeping bag?" He repeated, taking Errol’s hand again.

Errol’s eyes widened like he just realized what he had said, of course, another Alpha wouldn’t want to share his sleeping bag... Wait, Nael hadn’t seemed put off by the idea.

"Well..." He mumbled, glancing down. "I just thought that you might like to keep holding my hand, so only if you want to..." He barely got all of his words out before Nael was pulling him in the direction of his tent.

Errol would guess that was a yes.

Although Nael didn’t have to, he moved in with Errol, and Errol didn’t stop him because he was a little lonely. As long as Nael only did it because he wanted to, it was fine, no?

They shared a dorm room but they had never had reason to share a bed before but somehow, it wasn’t awkward, it was just sleeping after all. Or so Errol told himself.

He wasn’t entirely certain why Nael insisted on holding his hand but the longer they held hands, the more he didn’t want Nael to let go.

Errol was used to Nael sleeping shirtless so he didn’t bat an eye when the Alpha took his shirt off. He instead took off his boots and got comfortable in the sleeping bag to wait for Nael. freeweɓnovel.cѳm

Nael had to force himself to slow down or risk tripping over his feet as he made his way over to the sleeping bag he would be sharing with Errol.

He had been the one to drag everyone to go searching for Errol when he didn’t return. Well, more like he was well prepared to go alone but Valentin was having none of it.

Nael couldn’t explain the desperation burning under his skin as he waited for the rest to get ready so they could begin the search. It was like millions of buzzing insects climbing over his brain and under his skin.

No one but him had seen what Seton had done to Errol and how he had torn him to have to put his idol on a pedestal back together with his own hands. He was far more shaken up than he had let show while they were searching for Errol.

It was the panic and dread clawing up his throat that made him call out for Errol, his heart had restarted when he heard an answering call, only to stutter to a stop when he saw Errol standing with gaunt eyes and bloody hands.

He had no intention to be negligent but he had barely noticed Henri who was clearly in a much worse state until Louis arrived.

He had held Errol’s bloody hand tight and kept holding on even after helping him thoroughly wash off the blood. It was to keep the buzzing insects away and Errol let him stay close.

Nael gingerly got in, his movements gentle. "Are you comfortable? Is it too tight? I don’t mind bringing my sleeping bag..." He started to ramble.

Errol just took his hand. "I’m fine, go to sleep." He said, his eyes slipping shut.

Nael clammed his lips shut, matching his breathing with Errol’s to calm him down further. Falling asleep entirely would be a stretch, not when he was still worried about something happening to Errol but the Alpha didn’t need to know that.

He reached out with his free hand to hesitantly brush Errol’s pale hair from his face, nearly swallowing his tongue when Errol snuggled closer to him.

A few tents away, Louis was gradually losing his patience. He had retired to his tent in a terrible mood but he couldn’t even fall asleep because of a certain Alpha that didn’t shut up.

A few moments later, he poked his head out of his tent with a fiery expression. "Audie!!"

Audie poked his head out as well, having the nerve to look sleepy. "What?"

Louis jabbed a finger at Valentin who had set up shop in front of Audie’s tent, howling endlessly. "Deal with that!"

"Why do I have to..." Audie started to whine.

"Don’t make me come there!" Louis snarked, clearly in a bad mood.

Audie huffed, reaching out to grab Valentin by the hair and drag him into his tent, grumbling nonstop.

Louis let out a sigh of relief as the howling finally stopped, retreating back into his tent to try and rationalize some of the guilt he felt away when something passed his peripheral vision.

It was none other than a sleepwalking Cedric.

"Jann!" He yelled again, wondering how a supposedly peaceful trip turned into him babysitting his teammates.

"Jann!"

"Hm?" The sleepy Alpha poked his tousled hair out a gap in his tent.

"Didn’t I tell you to tie Cedric down? Why is he currently walking into the woods?" He scolded.

Jann blinked the sleep out of his eyes, jumping up with a muttered curse to catch his friend before he went out of sight.

Louis waited till Jann forcibly shoved Cedric into his own tent and followed after him before getting into his own tent. Exhausted from having to keep an eye on everyone.

It wasn’t entirely terrible because he forgot to beat himself up over what happened to Henri, quickly falling asleep.
