Chapter 54: Chapter 54

Errol’s new dorm room would be assigned to him that morning, so he wanted to be up early to meet up with the member of staff that would be giving him his new dorm room.

He quietly rolled out of bed so that he wouldn’t disturb Nael’s sleep, tip-toeing to the bathroom after taking out a change of clothes.

Although Errol had brought back some clothes from his visit to his dorm room earlier in the week, he wore nothing but Nael’s clothes while he was in the dorm room, which was most of the time.

For the first time, Errol was grateful that he hadn’t been put in the same class as Seton because it meant that he was spared the other Alpha’s presence during classes.

As he took off Nael’s clothes in the bathroom, he found himself remembering Audie tactlessly asking if they were together. Audie had made no further comments about Errol and Nael’s strange arrangement ever since that time but his question stuck to Errol’s skin like a brand.

Because it was a silly question, there was no way that Nael would get together with him, another Alpha. It just couldn’t happen. ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm

Errol found himself looking at his reflection in the mirror after bathing. It was something that he had recently begun doing. The person in the mirror wasn’t as frightful anymore.

His bruises had more or less fully healed and his skin was no longer stretched taut over his rib cage. He couldn’t stare at himself too long though or his image would start to distort.

So he got dressed and walked out, properly folding Nael’s clothes and taking them out with him.

He wouldn’t be able to take Nael’s clothes with him to his new dorm, which upset him more than he cared to admit.

"You don’t have to leave, you know?" Nael’s raspy voice made him flinch slightly.

"Nael, you’re awake." Errol turned around, still clutching his clothes.

"You can stay here for as long as you want." Nael went on, sitting up.

Errol forced his eyes upwards from Nael’s bare torso, going over to put the clothes in his hands in the bin. "I’ve already stayed here long enough, I’ll be fine in a new dorm room." He said with confidence that he didn’t feel.

It had just been a handful of days but Errol had already fallen into the peaceful routine of living with Nael, so much so that he had forgotten the sensation of sickly dread that he had once lived with.

Nael didn’t try to dissuade him, getting to his feet instead. "I’ll come with you then."

Errol’s eyes went wide at this, fragility dancing in his pale blue eyes. "Thank you." He cleared his throat to say, sitting down to wait.

He had planned to turn Nael down but then he realized that he was actually very terrified of doing this alone.

Nael was pleasantly surprised by this, he hadn’t expected Errol to agree so easily. He sped up, hurrying to the bathroom to quickly clean up so he could join Errol.

Henri and Tarquin got to the stables to find Seton waiting patiently for them; he was pleasantly surprised to see Henri.

"I’ll prepare your horses," Tarquin said in a small voice, quickly disappearing inside the stables to find an escape, leaving Henri with a predatory Seton.

"What a pleasant surprise to see you, your Highness."

"Cut the pretense, Seton." Henri said impassively. "I’m aware of what you did."

Seton was unfazed. "I’d be more surprised if you weren’t but that doesn’t stop me from being civil, does it?"

Henri stared right through him. "What do you want?"

"Just to spend some time with his Highness, is that a crime?" He asked smoothly.

"If you have ulterior motives, then it is." Henri eyed him.

Seton walked closer and took Henri’s hand. "I assure you that I don’t..."

Henri pulled his hand away just as Tarquin returned, quelling the urge to wipe his hand.

"Moonlight is beside himself with excitement," Tarquin said like a proud mother when Henri walked up to him.

Henri had to protect his face from the horse’s muzzle, as it enthusiastically tried to eat his hair "I can see that."

Seton went to his own horse which was brought out by a dour-faced stablehand and quietly watched their interaction.

"Will you be riding with us?" Henri asked.

Tarquin was filled with anxiousness again. "No, I fear I will not." He mumbled, sneaking a glance at Seton.

Henri had expected this. "That’s alright, will you be here when I return?"

Tarquin brightened up at this question. "Certainly, I like to spend my free time at the stables, caring for the horses. I’ll also wait for Moonlight because the stablehands can’t handle him."

Henri could see why that was the case. "Alright, I’ll try not to stay too long." He called behind him after getting on the large grey horse and trotting off.

Seton rode off behind him without question, leaving Tarquin behind who watched with a concerned gaze as they both headed for the racecourse.

"Complaints by students of the academy are taken very seriously even if the student in question insists on not reporting the details." The staff that was to assign Errol a new dorm room recited drably, pinning him a suspicious look.

Nael stood right beside Errol much to the staff’s disapproval but he had no reason to turn the young Alpha away and thus he remained,

Errol remained silent and waited for a new key to be given to him.

The staff drew out the process as painstakingly long as he could, eyeing up Errol in a way that made Nael want to dig out his eyes.

Errol sighed deeply when they were finally out of the staff’s cubicle of an office, clutching the new key given to him. His new room was room 025, on the first floor of the year two dorm building.

He hadn’t been told anything about the occupant already present in the room and he was too jittery to ask, just wanting to be out of the Alpha’s office.

"Want to go check it out?" Nael asked kindly.

Errol braced himself and nodded. "Might as well."
