Chapter 36: Chapter 36
Tarquin acted quickly, leading Henri away before he could get swarmed by the crowd of students wanting to have a word with him. He had to return to the racecourse though because there was another race to be had.
Surprisingly, a good number of the students that had simply shown up for the race between Seton and Henri, stayed behind to watch the opening competitions. Perhaps they hoped to find another prodigy amongst the year one applicants.
Henri was exempted from the opening competitions because he had already proved himself worthy of the club.
Tarquin didn’t actually approve of the opening competitions determining those who would be accepted into the club but it was a rule enforced by Seton.
He straightened out the sleeves of his dark green dress shirt, as he waited for the new applicants to line up at the starting position.
The opening competitions were supposed to be a fun race, that was how they had always been until Seton showed up and insisted on a proper competition.
While Tarquin was grateful to Seton for reviving the horse racing club and making it one of the top clubs at the academy in the span of a year, he was glad that complete control of the club wouldn’t fall to the twisted Alpha. frёeweɓηovel.coɱ

To hide out of the public eye, they had to go the long way around to get back to their dorms.
"You can let us go now," Audie muttered as they walked past the greenhouses, tired of trying to pry Dio’s hand from his wrist without success.
Valentin on the other hand didn’t seem to mind, swinging their joined hands to and fro.
"You were awesome." Louis walked beside Henri, his deep blue eyes lighting up. "I had no idea you were so good on a horse."
The adrenaline had faded away and all Henri was left with was a painful awareness of how impulsively he had acted. "I also wasn’t aware." He murmured sheepishly, wanting to retire to the safety of his dorm room.
Nael had also slipped away during the fray that happened after the race.
Louis smiled slightly at this. "You should get some rest, we’ll drop you off at your room." He offered considerately.
Henri sighed in relief, he could always count on Louis to understand exactly what he needed.
They first stopped at Audie and Valentin’s dorm on the first floor before making the journey to the third floor.

Nael slipped away to find Errol, he found the older Alpha already heading to the dorms.
"Nael!" Errol exclaimed when he was intercepted. "Why aren’t you with Henri and the others?"
Nael found himself tongue-tied, and it wasn’t because he didn’t know what to say but because of the look of terror, Errol constantly wore.
"I wanted to come find you." He said bluntly.
Errol chuckled nervously; for some reason, he felt like Nael could see right through the bruises on his body, all the way to his cracking heart.
"Why? Did you need something?"
Nael fell silent again. He did need something, he needed to see the bright and kind Alpha he grew up admiring and not this empty shell of a person.
"Do you want to go to the cafeteria for a drink?" He blurted out without thinking. He just didn’t want Errol to go back to the shithead that was his boyfriend.
Errol laughed softly then quickly sobered up. "Oh, you were serious." He mumbled, fidgeting. "I would like to but... I can’t." He ended in a painful whisper.
It sounded like a cry for help and if Errol would let him, Nael would take him with him, but...
"I’m sorry, I have to go." Errol suddenly snapped out of it, hurrying away.
Nael watched him leave, an inferno blazing in his hazel-gold eyes.

Alois made his way to the cafeteria; until the race began even he couldn’t predict the outcome of the race. Even though he was well aware of just how good a horse rider the Prince was.
He had never raced with Henri before though, this was because the most time they spent together was at balls, not exactly a prime time for a friendly horse race.
He intended to get a basket of snacks from the cafeteria, not for himself though.
The race couldn’t have happened at a more opportune time because now it had sufficiently taken away everyone’s attention from the incident at the cafeteria. There apparently wasn’t a single dull moment around Henri.
Alois didn’t even have to devote his entire time to looking after the Prince, he seemed immensely capable of doing that himself.
Although Queen Marina... *i keep writing Queen Marinara for some reason so if you see any future typos, no you didn’t.*
Although Queen Marina had asked him to keep Henri company, Alois had come to find that there was no need for that either. For someone who had spent his entire life cooped up in the castle, he somehow found a way to gather quite trustworthy people.
"Are they for his Highness?" The bright-eyed lady behind the counter gushed.
Alois neither confirmed nor denied her suspicions, thanking her with a smile when she handed him the basket. There was far more than he had asked for in the basket, which was no surprise.
Somehow, the debacle at the cafeteria had also boosted his own popularity, especially since it was confirmed that he was directly associated with the Prince.
Alois didn’t want that, he wanted to be able to blend in the background, although that was a little ironic considering the odd coloring of his hair. But that had never hindered him before, he would just have to return to watching over Henri from a distance and hope that Henri’s fame would soon overwhelm his.
He briskly made his way back to the year one dorm and went straight to his dorm room to find it empty. He calmly placed the basket on a side table, unsurprised by this.
It would have been more of a surprise if he came back to find his wilful roommate right where he left him.
