Chapter 27: Chapter 27

Cecil strode up confidently to the Archery club, he had no intention of joining any club, not when he could spend his time doing much better things. He also had lofty goals of becoming a part of the student council, he just had to make sure that he stood out in the first few months of the school year.

He was paying a visit to the Archery club to run an errand. Cecil was hardly the type to run errands when he had Leeson and Perry but he had to make sure that this particular errand was completed properly or his plans would fall apart. It was just to hand a package over to the Archery club captain but Cecil didn’t trust the two to manage even that.

The door opened to a large indoor archery range, Cecil was aware that the academy also had an outdoor range that was three times as big as the one in the club. Behind the range was the clubhouse proper as well as the storage room.

A drab looking senior approached them as soon as they opened the door. "Looking to join the club?" He drawled.

Cecil didn’t hide his look of disgust. "No, I’m looking for Ivan."

"He’s in the club room." The Alpha jabbed a finger in the general direction and then wandered back to the range where there were a handful of students practicing.

"You two stay here, this will only take a few minutes." He directed Perry and Leeson, walking off by himself.

There were two doors off to the right, it was clear which was the club room. Cecil didn’t even need to have a conversation, after identifying Ivan, he handed over the package and then walked out. All that was left now was for him to head down to the cafeteria and wait to see the culmination of his plans.

He expected to find Leeson and Perry outside waiting for him and did not at all expect them to join a small crowd that had surrounded an archer.

He walked over just in time to see three arrows get shot at once, all three hitting the bullseye. Even more shocking than that was the person that had made the shot.

"Cecil! I didn’t know you were joining the archery club." Alois grinned when he caught sight of him, lowering his bow.

Cecil’s expression soured. "I’m not." He ground out, glaring at his two stooges.

He turned around and walked off to discourage further conversation, Leeson and Perry knowing to follow right behind him.

"You know that archer, Cecil..."

"Shut it." Cecil snapped at Perry, irrationally angry.

Henri nervously made his way to the second hallway on the second floor, where his club room was located. The stables were all the way at the north end of the school grounds at least that was what the brochure said, Henri had yet to confirm it for himself.

After the first time that he went to the cafeteria alone, he had always been around someone so it was a little unsettling to be doing this alone. He wasn’t going to chicken out just because he was nervous though, the club was for people who liked horses and horse riding, it wouldn’t be too difficult to find a kindred spirit, or so he thought.

Henri knocked lightly, a habit he learned from years of having attentive guards. The door opened however to reveal a familiar face.

"Well, well, if it isn’t the Prince himself," Seton said in a cynical voice. "Come to assess us?" He taunted.

"Not quite, I’d like to join the club." He responded calmly, noting that the rest of the club members present started to gather around at this.

Seton stepped back, shutting the door behind Henri when he stepped in, essentially crowding him against the door. "Who knew royalty could have a good sense of humor? You couldn’t even get on a horse."

"So you wouldn’t turn me down if I challenged you to a race?" Henri remained calm, locking gazes with Seton although he had to look up for that.

Seton froze for a moment and then looked around at the rest of his members, voracious laughter filling the club room. "You know what, I’ll take you up on that. Let’s have a race before the opening competitions." He accepted, grabbing Henri’s wrist. "And when you lose, what do I get?"

Henri slapped away his hand. "Don’t touch me. Also, I believe you have the wrong idea, I will not lose."

Seton’s eyes widened slightly when he held Henri’s wrist, it was visible that the Prince was rather short but Seton hadn’t been expecting his wrist to be that slender... Come to think of it, wasn’t the Prince an Omega?

He tried to reach for Henri’s wrist again, partially to reaffirm how slender he was and also to intimidate him when a connecting door slammed open.

"Seton, stop!" A shrill voice rang out.

Seton’s mocking smile fell off his face and he backed off, poking a finger in his ear. "President, you’re too loud."

The president didn’t even spare Seton a second look, hurrying over to Henri’s side. "I’m deeply sorry about that, did you want to join the club?" He asked with hope in his big black eyes.

"Yes," Henri said calmly, relieved that there was one sane person in his desired club.

"Please come with me." He gestured for Henri to follow him, his eyes down even as Seton and his group of eight seemed to glare daggers right through him.

"I presume there’s no love lost?" Henri voiced out loud without meaning to when they entered the connecting room. fɾēewebnσveℓ.com

The president wearily sat down behind the desk in the small, closet-like room. "You could say that, I’m sorry you had to deal with that on your first time. I’m Tarquin but everyone calls me Quinn and as you heard, I’m the president of the club, welcome."

Henri noted that he had to lock the door behind them when they stepped in, he could safely say that the state of the Horse riding club was far worse than he initially thought.

"Henri, also are you going to give me an explanation?"

Quinn sighed."I suppose I owe you that much. Seton is a State champion, precisely the champion of the capital so he gets special treatment, from the school as well as the other members. I’m merely the president in title only, Seton is the true leader here so I apologize in advance if I’m not much help to you in the future."
