Chapter 140: Chapter 140

They stopped by their lockers before heading to the cafeteria. The lockers were located on the ground floor while their classes were located on the first floor.

The flooring was made of dark-toned marble, giving the vast open space of the foyer a cool ambiance. There were fewer windows on the first floor, lockers neatly arranged in rows instead.

Fortunately, Henri’s locker wasn’t put in an obscure spot this time, it was just down the row from Louis’ locker. They needed to drop off their books before heading down to the cafeteria for their midday meal.

Claude and Alexander still trailed behind him, Henri’s disappointment climbing higher when they both went to the lockers on either side of his. ’There had to be a limit at some point, right?’

Claude was one thing but what exactly did Alexander want from him? Surely, he didn’t think that just because they were both royalty, they had to spend all their time together.

Henri noted that Louis seemed to keep a suspicious distance from him but looking at his friend and finding him having a soft-spoken conversation with Dio, with barely any space between them explained it all.

Meanwhile, Louis was sneaking surreptitious looks in Henri’s direction, "Are they ever going to let him be? I can hardly even talk to him." He complained to Dio in a whisper.

Dio didn’t seem as troubled as Louis was, for one thing, Henri looked to be just fine. It wasn’t like Alexander and Claude were strangers to him. "After classes maybe?" He suggested helpfully, knowing that Louis would keep being worried.

Louis didn’t look comforted, "I wonder if that’ll be the case."

Jacques had ended up in the same class as Nael, the both of them sitting together. They were less likely to be chatty when the other two were not around, both of them sitting in comfortable silence.

"Going to join us at the cafeteria?" Jacques asked when they headed for their lockers after the end of their second class.

Nael held back a grimace, "Errol is going with his club members."

"So I’ll take that as a yes." The short-haired Alpha went right on.

Nael didn’t answer, sticking his head into his locker to drop off his books. freewebnovёl.ƈom

Jacques studied him intently, "That’s a yes, right?" He asked with slight concern, "You don’t intend to crash Errol’s meet-up, right?"

Nael shrugged noncomittally, slamming his locker close and striding away. "I’m not making any promises."

Jacques immediately went after him, "You had him to yourself all weekend! It’s just one meal!"

They were waved over by Valentin who immediately sighted them as soon as they stepped into the cafeteria. Jacques had a firm hold on Nael’s arm, he didn’t quite trust the Alpha, and from the way, Nael’s hazel eyes were quickly scanning the room, he was smart not to.

"Huh? Where’s Audie?" Nael asked as soon as they got to the table where Valentin was seated at, it was odd to not see Audie beside him, the Alpha seemed to be fused to him.

Valentin looked sheepish, he ruffled his dirty-blond hair, "I don’t know..."

They both gaped at this, "You lost him?" Nael said in shock.

"He said I should go ahead, that’ll he’ll catch up." He shrugged, "He’ll probably be here soon."

"Hopefully in one piece," Nael grumbled under his breath, settling down across from Valentin.

Jacques looked about to do the same but then he caught himself and sat beside Valentin instead.

"You’re not with Errol?" Valentin asked curiously, not batting an eyelid at Jacques sliding into the space beside him.

Nael’s grimace returned, his hazel-gold eyes narrowing. "Ah, shit, I forgot something..." He started to say, making a move to get up.

"I’ll tackle you to the ground if you do that," Jacques spoke up. "Errol is hanging out with his club members, keep an eye on him while I get something from the counter." He tagged on, getting to his feet.

Nael seemed displeased by this but he made no verbal protests, "Could you get me a sandwich?" He asked Jacques who waited to listen to him, "And a mug of beer-"

"Okay!" Jacques immediately cut him off. "Sandwich it is." He said shortly, hightailing away from the table.

Valentin reached across the table to pat Nael’s hand comfortingly, "You both share a dorm room, you’ll see him soon." He said with a small smile.

Nael flinched dropping his head on the polished table top with a gentle thud, "Your smiles are the same." He said in a voice steeped in misery.

Valentin blinked, slightly offended by this although he wasn’t sure why. His response was interrupted by Audie making his way over to their table. Because they had classes that day, he was thankfully properly covered up.

Well as much as someone like Audie could be, his dark blue dress shirt was buttoned all the way to the top and he had his matching cravat on. The shirt however was untucked and he had worn his overcoat over it which was left unbuttoned.

He immediately beelined to Valentin’s side, slipping into the space that Jacques had just vacated, Valentin was about to protest when Audie started rambling like he always did.

"Vale, I found a secret passageway in our class building." He whispered conspiratorially, ignoring Nael who was sprawled over the table top, looking lifeless.

Valentin’s train of thought was brought to a screeching halt by this confession, "You what?? Was that why you stayed behind?" He asked curiously.

Audie beamed, pleased that he had gotten his friend’s full attention. "Yes, want to ditch third period and check it out with me?" He leaned forward in his enthusiasm.

"If you ditch classes, I’ll snitch to Errol." Nael lifted his head to say in a drab voice.

Audie scowled at him, "This is exactly why he’s not eating with you right now."

Nael winced like he had been smacked across the face, "You really think so?" He asked with the tone of a whipped puppy.

Valentin had to intervene, "No, that’s not why." He cut off Audie’s next response, "And we’re not ditching classes."

"But it’s art, I hate drawing." Audie grumbled. fгeewebnovёl.com

"We can go after classes..." Valentin said to placate him, having to lean back slightly when Audie closed the distance between them in his enthusiasm.

"Where are we going?" Jacques’ voice came from behind them, a frown in his voice.

Audie had an almost petty expression on, "It’s none of your business."
