Chapter 139: Chapter 139
Henri expelled a long-suffering sigh, he wasn’t interested in showing Alexander around but their arguing was just as annoying.
"I’ll show you around." He agreed, anything to get them to stop tearing at each other’s throats.
Claude immediately started singing a different tune. "Good thing I’m also a transfer student, I’ll come along too." He smoothly invited himself.
Alexander was displeased by this, the dark emotion falling off his face when Henri looked in his direction. He didn’t want Henri to retract his offer so he grudgingly gave in. "Sure, if that’s what Henri wants."
Henri leaned back in his seat when they both settled their eyes on him, he didn’t want Claude coming along but he knew that if he turned the Alpha down, he would only find another way to stick to him.
"Fine." He bit out, slamming open a textbook when a professor stepped in.
He expected their first class to begin and not at all for the professor to call his name.
Henri rose to his feet, slightly hesitant. The Head Chancellor had requested for him, he wondered what the Head Chancellor could possibly want with him so early in the year.
He strode out nonetheless, relieved to be away from the two Alphas who were suffocating him. freeweɓnovēl.coɱ
He was led to the Head Chancellor’s office, still displeased at the amount of stairs that he needed to go up. The professor led the way until they got to the space where Sir Bolton’s secretary had his desk.
He was immediately ushered into the Head Chancellor’s room, surprise blooming on his face as he saw his mother seated across from the Head Chancellor.
"Henri!" Marina beamed, rising to her feet to hug her son.
She was dressed plainly today, foregoing her crown and putting her hair in a simple braid. It seemed to make Sir Bolton nervous for some reason, if the way he gave the Queen a wide berth was any indication.
"You didn’t have to come yourself." Henri scolded lightly, holding tightly to his mother’s slender hands when she took his.
Marina laughed happily, "I couldn’t let the chance to see you slip by." She admitted shamelessly, pulling up a package. "I brought your hea-"
"Mother!" Henri cut her off sharply, color high on his cheekbones.
Marina demurred, "Ah, my apologies..." She quickly said, handing the package to Henri and looking for a way to change the line of conversation to something that was less awkward. "Have you seen Claude?!" She asked suddenly with stars in her eyes.
The sparkle in Marina’s eyes dwindled rapidly at the change of expression on her son’s face.
"You knew he was back?" Henri asked his mother, clutching the package close.
The tone of Henri’s voice made Marina panic slightly, this wasn’t the reaction she had been expecting from her son about his best friend. "I did but that was because he made a request of me, he said he wanted to surprise you." She said carefully, trying a small smile again.
Henri didn’t return the action, his eyes dropping low. "Oh, I see."
Marina frowned but she didn’t push, it was best if she let them figure things out for themselves. "I made sure to get you fruit flavored gummies this time." She diverted the conversation once more, realizing that it was far easier to talk about heats than Claude.
The flush on Henri’s face returned in full force but he didn’t scold her this time. "As long as they’re not sour." He mumbled in a soft voice.
"They’re not," Marina reassured him, sounding exceptionally proud of herself. "I would have come earlier but I got chocolate flavored ones and they turned out to be bitter chocolate..."
Sir Bolton just sat stiffly in his seat and watched the Queen and the Crown Prince interact familiarly with each other. He tried not to look like he was eavesdropping in on their conversation but he couldn’t help but wonder what confectionary was so important that the Queen herself had to bring it.
Henri was relieved when his mother didn’t bring up Claude again, honestly, he would take an indepth conversation about his heat in public over the Alpha.
She didn’t stay very long because he had to resume his classes. And so they quickly said their goodbyes and parted ways.
Henri had no intention of taking his jar of heat suppressant gummy pills and the hand made calender his mother had carefully done for him back to the class.
What if Dio or Jann gave into their curiosity and did a little searching? Or far worse, Claude or Alexander stumbled across it.
He wasn’t ashamed of the probability of having heats, it was just an embarrassing topic that he would rather avoid.
So after leaving the staff building, he went back to the dorm buildings instead of the class. The park beside the Year Two dormitory building was empty, the marble benches devoid of students.
The dorms were the same as well. Henri had never had a reason to return to the dorms while classes were ongoing so he had never thought of how deserted it would be.
The hallways were eerily quiet and empty, doors closed. He hurried to his dorm room, not wanting to miss out on the entirety of the first class of the day. frёeωebɳovel.com
He safely stowed away the package deep in the caverns of his wardrobe. He would hide it in a much better spot after classes. It would be an out of sight, out of mind with the pills.
He returned quietly back to class, relieved to find that it was the professor that had come to get him who was currently teaching. It meant that he wouldn’t have to explain his tardiness to class.
The professor waved him over to his seat and went right on with his teaching, Henri gingerly settling behind his desk while trying to ignore the eyes that were riveted on him.
Henri had more or less forgotten about his offer to show not just Alexander but also Claude around the college grounds but was reminded when break rolled around.
Louis was immediately on his feet and by his friend’s side by the time the second professor of the day left the class, he was curious about why Henri had been called and he also wanted to steal Henri away to the cafeteria before either of the scary Alphas could do so.
"My mother just needed to give me something." Henri said vaguely to Louis’ question, rising to his feet.
Alexander and Claude followed suit, Claude leaning against his desk with his hands tucked in his pockets.
Alexander stepped forward when Louis tried to take Henri with him, a patronising smile on his aristocratic face. "His Highness promised to help us get accustomed to the workings of the college." He said smoothly twisting Henri’s words.
Henri turned to look at him in disbelief but he couldn’t deny it, he should have known better than to give the Alpha Prince any leeway. ’Give him a finger and he’ll take the whole arm.’
"Surely you know your way to the cafeteria at the very least," Louis said with genuine concern, looking from one smiling Alpha to the other brooding one.
"Not at all." Alexander smiled without hesitation.
Claude just gave a noncommittal shrug, he had no intention of leaving Henri all along with Alexander.
It was Louis’ turn to be speechless, uncertain of what to say in a situation like this. It was such a blatant lie considering that they had all first met each other at the cafeteria but that was what made it so difficult to address.
Dio stepped up at this point, flicking his eyes from Alexander to Claude with slight confusion. "Is something wrong?"
Henri had to take the reins, "No, we’re heading to the cafeteria now." He said as politely as a host, his grimace very evident.
’Would he never be rid of these two?’
Louis wasn’t pleased by this and he didn’t bother to hide it but before he could stick to Henri’s side to dissuade the troublesome two from doing that, Alexander stepped into his personal space. He tilted his head to the side with an expectant look in his eyes.
Louis had to suppress a shiver, the Alpha Prince always had a placid expression on his face, his lips lifting in a slight smile but it did nothing to hide the danger hiding just behind his mask.
If he had to pick between the two, he would go with Claude because the other Alpha didn’t seem to be suspicious, Henri just didn’t like him so naturally, Louis supported his friend.
Alexander didn’t even have to say a word but he didn’t know when he hurried to Dio’s side, clutching his boyfriend’s arm as they led the way, Henri coming up behind them with the towering Alphas standing on either side of him.
Louis honestly couldn’t wrap his head around how Henri managed to hold his own against them. Claude seemed largely uninterested in everyone else but Henri so he couldn’t get a proper read on the Alpha but Alexander unsettled him.
Dio frowned slightly and glanced at Louis in concern. "Are you alright?"
Louis glanced at the single braid in Dio’s hair, its quirkiness distracting him. "Yeah..." He breathed, sneaking a look at Henri who had a bored expression on his face.
His friend also looked fine, maybe it was something about being royalty. Louis couldn’t relate.
